What did you order or the post deliver? (Japanese N Gauge)

Received my latest package from HobbySearch.

Tomix Kiha 40-350 Hidaka Line

This model is great.  I didn't expect it to be as nicely detailed as it is.  It does not say it's a "High Grade" model, but it's packaged in the black/gold packaging that I've usually seen HG models.  This model has brake hoses, hand rails, a very detailed under carriage.. the destination board is pre-installed.. overall, a fantastic model.  Unfortunately, placing it beside my Kiha 130 Hidaka Pony set.. the 130s look cheaply made in contrast..

I should have picked up one of the regular white/green Hokkaido Kiha 40s as well..

One Piece 1/144 Scale 6pc Set

While not exactly "1/150 N scale", these anime character figures should stage nicely on my layout.  I like the idea of someday having a exhibition layout.. and maybe one or two people all day would notice these little things.. granted, because I had to purchase the whole box.. I now also own a 1/144 scale Going Merry.. I may need to create a big harbor module for my future exhibition layout..

Hey this is neat, I'm jealous! Perfect pirate ship I want to do for my eventual amusement park. Nice find, hope it comes back in stock doesn't seem to be at other sources.

Have fun with them.

Hi 200系! I really envy you! That's a very nice present! I've only been getting presents for myself... Yes now your 16 car can finally get some distance to cover! Sweet ~

Thanks! It's certainly fun to be able to run them this way' date=' makes you realize it takes a while to place/store them though haha.

But I'm not sure if I should because it would delay my other projects even worse.
Lol. Well I hope my plans won't go like that.

I'd say go for it! I used to be that way too, I actually build a semi complete H0 layout some years back (tore it down). When I made the switch to Japanese N gauge I had the same goal, build a permanent layout, preferably realistic with DCC and everything, however I never build the layout (always found something to hold me back). When I thought about it, it made sense. I'm a prototype guy, I love trains and everything that goes with it, model railroading is an extension of that passion, so I'd rather collect the trains them self as opposed to spending the money on layout material, I deep down don't give a hoot about. (don't get me wrong, I like a well made layout, it's just not something I'm capable of doing myself).

So in short, I'm a collector who runs his trains from time to time on a temporary layout (do hope to be able to get it of the ground, and on something more "safe" in the future though), and I've never looked back, temporary layouts are a lot more fun IMHO.

anyway, sorry for the OT, thought it might help some people :grin.

back on topic,

-My reserved Kato E2系0番台 basic set has been paid and sent by HS

-I bought the Kato E2系0番台 add on set + a Kato Inclination Piers set

@200系

You know what I'm talking about! I have no idea of my capability of building layouts, that's why I decided to go with the  "Dutch T-Trak" plan some guys from the forums here organized so that I can take it easy. The thing I do is looking at others' layouts much and get inspiration, but I think it's difficult to make something like what I often see.

Temporary layout can be fun, but some buildings like the Kato stations for example are really necessary in my opinion to make it interesting for me.

@Tomo Takino

Nice! But there's something I totally don't understand. Take a look at these pictures and compare them to the window positioning on your model:

http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/image/10111849a/20/1

http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/image/10111849a4/20/4

That's different than the two large and two small between the doors right? Even though you've ordered that one (I assume), it seems to me as if you've got the one with correct windows as in the anime (another screenshot below).

I did noticed however that MicroAce also makes it: http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10105414

I thought that was the one I was getting, it looks the same and its by Greenmax, but mine has a different box now that I have it to see.

Yeah, mines definitely by Greenmax though.

@Tomo

I assume you didn't order at HS? That would explain the confusion, though there's always the article number.

@disturbman

I couldn't find that one on HS because they made a typo with "107series".

Anyway, you got what you wanted, right? :grin

Link to comment

Well I actually think it's even exactly the correct one if you look at the link I gave earlier: http://hanchiya-han.cocolog-nifty.com/blog/2011/07/post-4261.html

If I understand the comments below correctly the guy who wrote the article originally messed it up as well, hence some photos have the 3-window version rather than the 2 small/2 large as in the anime. Someone corrects him with that, and the train he mentions is the one you have got.

bought the digitrax Zephyr Xtra and psu

Since digitrax holds everything I need and seems the most superior in regards to their transponding compared to other suppliers similar features etc

I decided to buy the set and do some basic testing and add decoders to some of my models though i won't be implementing on my current layout though i may depending on time and other various moves i will be doing in the future.

for now i will play with it on the dinner table.

i have a few cheap GM model kits I have bought to learn installing decoders on. So I'm not fussed on breaking them. call it my learning curve.

keitaro,

I've been reading about Digitrax.  You and Webskipper both use it, right?

There seems to be a lot of strong opinion about this system, both for and against.

Warmest regards,

Boiler

yes Boiler,

I'm confident i have chosen the right system hands down the best for supply support and compatability, though there decode offering atm is missing a critical decoder type i would like (none offer this really though).

You should join up to our next sydney meet I and a previous member The_Ghan both are doing digitrax and both agree it's tops.

Mark N Maybe might come ???? another member, we are thinking about doing around late oct/early november when the_ghan returns from his trip to japan. I'll pm or post in the club section.

Cheers,

Dave

Hooray, finished ordering all the decoders I needed! Now I need to fit them... :grin

Ordered two Railway Collection items, Collection #16 (for the Hokuriku/Oigawa "Shirasagi" trainsets and Asahikawa Denki Kido car) and the Tobu Nikko 100 Series tram.

Took the bull by the horns and stopped procrastinating, ordered two Arumodel kits, one N scale (Center-cab loco, http://homepage3.nifty.com/arumo/rn006.htm) and one HOn30 (2-axle passenger coach, http://homepage3.nifty.com/arumo/r002.htm). Plus all the finishing parts I needed (except the Kato power unit, which I already have in hand).

Cheers NB

Sorry been busy celebrating the South Melbourne/Sydney Swans and the Melbourne Storm win and forgot to post that my full set of the 200系 had arrived. I just had a look at my shinkansen list and I pretty much got nearly all of the JR East Shinkansen units (missing the 400系, E1系, E2系 (Asama), E3系 (Tsubasa) units.

Been shipped out is the Sayonara Nihonkai full set and a EF500-510 (Cassiopeia) Unit and expect to have them arriving on Tuesday the latest.

Yesterday (Wednesday) I received an order of Unitrack from KatoNL. A V4 expansion set, a pack of 248mm, 124mm and 62mm straight each, and at last a Kato catalog.

Some pictures of the packages and a couple of pictures of my first Kato turnouts in action below (I don't have space for a loop now so I put it on my desk like this). Unfortunately I went through some trouble with the turnouts, but they work fine now.

Oh yes it does, and playing with the switches is addictive. It also makes me want more trains and tracks so I'm not sure if that's good or bad. :grin

I didn't really have this feeling with my Dutch H0 models, now I'm so glad I decided to start with Japanese N scale now.

Japanese N-scale is very dangerous for the credit card ;)
