Yeah, it's great to browse shops, but it's still a bit difficult to communicate, since I speak German with my girlfriend all the time. I guess we should switch to Japanese soon, or develop some kind of in-between language. :P

Anyway, I've motorised two trains (Keisei 3050 and Keikyu 2100) with Bandai trucks and power units I bought at Yodobashi Camera in Machida yesterday. I didn't want to use Kato products, since they don't match with the design of the trucks and leave an ugly space in the middle, which has to be filled with, again, other 3rd party parts...

Oh my, 83 pages and 120 hours. Now I'm actually curious what the exact weight is... :grin

I've weighed the Spirited Away bath house box now, it's about 1.7kg, or around 3.75 pounds.

I'm itching to get started, but I really should do the smaller, easier ones first and get some experience before potentially messing up the bath house itself :)

yes yes do martijn. i did a couple DOHs on the first sankai i did as some of the wall sections were just a tiny bit different in size that made a difference! in the end it worked out as i was able to cut the structure down a mm or so to make it all work out.

also write the number of the part on the inside of the part lightly with a pencil, helps to not have to puzzle piece it back to the knock out sheet to figure out part numbers while assembling.

also knock out just the parts you are doing in a step. my first small kit i figured id just cut them all out at once for ease, but even with like 30 parts it was a bit of a fiddle, yours is going to be a hideous number of pieces!

cant wait to see it come together! enjoy!

I've already done a couple of test kits, still working one one now that has a couple of large surfaces that need to be glued together. After that I still have all the other Sankei Ghibli kits to build as well :)

I might end up buying a couple more non Ghibli kits, maybe also a somewhat bigger one to give that a go.

First of, sorry for the delay pictures as promised... Having problems linking the photos from photo bucket to here, hence decided to attach the photos here as attachments instead...

My recent score from Yahoo Auctions!

One can never guess how much i got these for! It's quite a steal!

Having fun these few days fixing them up and installing lights into them ~~

16016 yen? :grin

What's up with those pre-built Greenmax buildings? I can't remember seeing any pre-built Greenmax structure before.

I think I just hit the jackpot today. Went out for a stroll and stepped into TamTam to satisfy my nerdgasms and bought a Tomytec Railway Collection #14 boxed train on the fly, just for fun. It turned out to be the secret version! The Toyama MOHA 14753 in old colours.

Now, I'm not too sure what to do with this one. I like the model a lot, but I also would like to sell it, since there is at least 700% profit on it... Ah hell, I'd repaint the thing anyway, so I'll sell it to Poppondetta when I'm in Akiba again.

Tony got lucky today! Congrats! Popondetta actually buys in stuff?

That's right! They also sell a lot of 2nd hand stuff for a good price as well. I hope to get at least a few thousand yen or a good trade for my Tetsukore Toyama MOHA 14753 Secret train.

Got my first breadboard set.

Also got a freebie app called Perfboard.

It helps calculate values for resisters, capacitors, and best of all which resistor you need for a proper voltage drop from say track voltage for an LED.

Have yet to find a real breadboard app with a trial version.

Just ordered Kato E259 Narita Express (10-847 and 10-848) from HS. Fingers crossed I dont have to wait two weeks for it to be stuck in customs like when I ordered My 800 Sakura/Tsubame (10-865).  :boxing:

Maybe I want to get the old livery later as well (perhaps the 3-car version), it's available at HS at the moment, but it's a very different price tag. I still don't know if old livery trains were coupled together with ones with the new livery in the time when the livery change was happening, I can't find anything about it.

Do you have the new livery as well, disturbman?

Yes, I have both and both liveries are very cool. Very different but still appealing. I'm actually a bit unsure which one I prefer. Possibly the older livery, you can really see it was designed at the same time as the train. They compliment each others very nicely.

I have no idea if the two livery were mixed up in one train or not. I'm sure that at the time of the livery change both must have existed in parallel but on the same consist. But nobody said you couldn't mixed up anyway. ;)

It's a tad bit late but after half a year I finally found a confirmation that both liveries were used together in the past. Here's a video of a JR Shikoku 8000 series with the 5-car train in renewal colors and the 3-car train in the old colors:

This week I finally received my Tomix 400系 (had to wait quite some time for that one, ordered it in late 2012).

I also received A Kato 8 car E4系 formation via PlazaJapan.

After how ever many billions of years of searching, I've finally landed a Tomix 92913 Arigatou/Memorial 0 series 16 car set in brand new condition! Pics to follow.

(not to mention I've been on a bit of a train buying hiatus the past year).

Got bored today and took the express to Ebina where there is a Popondetta branch shop. There I found a Cosmic CP-0505 controller for ¥1,000! Normally these go for around ¥5,000, so I bought it. It's a good replacement for my battery powered Tomytec controller, plus it can be built into a layout easily in the future.

My E259 by Kato took 2 days to get from Tokyo to the UK and has spent it's 8th day stuck in customs. I HAAATE parcelforce :(

Sadly Parcelfarce are a non-negotiable aspect of shipping here. The fact the blighters charge you for the privilege of holding it up fir weeks on end and then hit you with the VAT!
