scott
Having just sold the first two trains that I posted about in this thread, I just sent Rainbowten part of the proceeds for this: Right now the only other thing I feel a need for is a 485 or some other high-cab limited-express train, maybe one of the 485-3000 North East Express sets. But that'll have to wait for a bargain to come along. Link to comment
disturbman
485 are great, the king of JR Limited Express. But you shouldn't wait for 485-3000. They are very hard to come by and usually very expensive. Maybe it is time for MicroAce to re-release those nice trains. I would advise you to look for a more classic 485 design, the old JNR livery is quite fine and common. What I was waiting to be delivered to me? Nothing N scaled but I was so stressed to get it that I forgot to post it here. I was waiting for my 3 weeks JR Pass (or more acurately for my exhange order for a 3 weeks JR Pass). That's quite an expensive baby. Link to comment
lbriand_fr
Just receive this: http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10078228 Not N gauge, but a huge C62 Link to comment

I had already thought that the JNR livery might be good, since it avoids tying the train down to any one route. What I was waiting to be delivered to me? I had already thought that the JNR livery might be good, since it avoids tying the train down to any one route. Well, I've looking for them for quite a good time. And the MA versions are usually available for Yen 20.000 on the used market. The most easily available and cheapest model is Kato Roudhouse's version, the one with the Tobu/Nikko livery. But it's really geographically limited, like you mention : no possible comparison with the versatility of a JNR version. Wow--when are you going? And is it an unlimited-travel pass? I fly to Paris on Friday and then to Japan on April 1st. I'll come back on May 3rd and then flying back to Berlin on May 5th. It's an unlimited-travel pass on JR trains (except Nozomi services & some limitations on Sleepers), busses and ferries (I don't remember the limitations here). I took the ordinary ticket, I don't care for green cars plus I'll be traveling alone and I don't need more. That's a bit of a last minute travel. I decided myself two weeks ago. When I came back I'll reeck from train and miso! Yeah!!! Link to comment

KenS
I just sent off a month-end order to HS for a bunch of little things before their March discount runs out (will we see it again for April?), but I also ordered one of these and some Tomix finetrack to go along with it. Yes, I've been bitten by the tram bug. After staring at too many photos of Ōtsuka Station, I decided my elevated station needed a tram too. In the end, I liked the Tōkyū Setagaya line's more modern trams more, but the blame falls squarely on the Toden Arakawa Line. Mind you, all the other tram-lovers on this board showing off their new toys probably had some influence too... Now I just have to figure out how to fit it in. Otherwise it has a fine future ahead of it, running in circles on my coffee-table. 2 Link to comment

By the end of the year (can I wait that long???) I should have three layouts-- one train, and two tram. Kind of neat to run little trams at eye level. Link to comment

scott
I just order a Green Max DT50 power unit from HWJapan--it was 50% off! I don't have any models that it fits, but I've been working on this idea of cobbling together a single-car "panoramic" railcar that could run on our point-to-point line and look nice while not taking up a lot of track space at any one time. Martijn Meerts
That Baldwin loco works sure looks an AWFUL lot like Faller's burning factory kit (232202) Link to comment
clem24
That Baldwin loco works sure looks an AWFUL lot like Faller's burning factory kit (232202) Probably is, but being model power, it's probably tons cheaper. I've seen lots of ConCor stuff that are repackaged Heljan buildings and they usually cost much less. So win-win in my books. Back on topic, my Tomix 16 car 300 series Shinkansen is on it's way...
