Seems to be a dual release. H0 and N gauge.

 

I hadn't considered that possibility. 

 

Knowing (they certainly look like the tankers Kato sells) they're already available in N, I was thinking this was more likely to be HO.

 

If they've done dual releases in the past, I hope they've been more clear about it.

Charles have a look at the Tomix website and you will find the Taki 1000's will be coming out in two versions, one fitted with tail lights and the other one as a normal car, this will be the case for both HO and N scale versions.

Nice to see Tomix finally delve into making modern Taki's for so long this has been the domain of Kato, I look forward to adding some to my fleet.

 

ps: After looking closer at the photo of the rake of Taki's I noticed that the end one has tail lights, are we getting another wagon fitted with them and additional car numbers, if so I will surely be picking some of these up as well as some Kato Taki's to renumber when I am in Japan in April.

So a new control system, not DCC, compatible with current trains, manual control possible, automatic block control, based on sensors. Maybe it's an analog automatic block system? (sensors could detect the first wheel of each train and signals must control whole blocks, since the motor car is usually not on the front) Anyone has more info about this?

Yes, it looks like Tomix is finally incorporating an automated block system with their TCS. This has been on my wish list for years (although mostly unconsciously), and I think this will be a great competitor to the Kato DCC system, as it's modular, probably easy to set up, doesn't need programming of the trains and doesn't require modifications to the trains. If the price is right, this will be a hit!

Considering Kato doesn't have DCC automation, the Tomix solution is better as it works. It's more of a multiple unit oriented system though.

 

The number of sensors on the demo layout was around 12 (4 entry+8 station) which 8 could be active any time. The number of blocks seemed to be 4 (2x2). Allowing a full crossbar this could mean either 2 (auto+manual), 4 or 6 speed controller inputs (for full manual auto blocks). Personally i would add 4 simple top speed knobs and one or two passthrough inputs for full sized manual controllers. (it has at least one such input based on the video)

Also noticed what looks like a new larger Tomix apartment building in one of Nariichi's photos from the all Japan hobby and model show. Similar structure and exterior stairs but larger and more unique footprint. Hope it can come apart by floor like the old one to make it larger! Nice

Whoops sorry my bad, it is greenmax, i just had shuttled past it to the tomix bits and had tomix in my head, especially as similar design to the old tomix one! hmm this will be interesting to see if a prebuilt or kit.
