Looks like you have a fairly expansive collection of Koki 107's with this latest addition, have you been able to diversify your fleet with some of the other 100 Series models. I can't wait for Tomix to bring out their Koki 106 with working Tail End lights, I will be adding one of those to my fleet of Koki's as soon as they appear.

I just received a Kato C12 and a D51.  I already have the Kato/Roundhouse 2006-3 D51 and I've read about the significant difference between the two here in the forum but seeing them side by side - it's pretty dramatic.  These 2 steam locos may not see much run time as they will be just sitting pretty in a glass case to be admired and also because I'm afraid I will break off the little details if I handle them too often.

I think I now have every Koki 107 released.  The Koki 106s don't wow me as there is only 3 different running numbers to collect.  So don't care about the running numbers, some do.

Is Tomix releasing container cars with tail lights, or is that just a huge wish?

I have 4 Koki 106's all with different running numbers Kato 10-245 (685 & 572) Tomix 2768 (342) and Tomix 2769 (421), I am a bit OCD when it comes to running numbers as I don't like to have duplicate numbers, this even extends to containers which I have started a register of so when I do buy new containers I won't be doubling up.

I'm hoping the new Tomix model with tail lights will be released in the new year as I am keen to diversify my fleet which currently has 11 Koki 107's and I would like to bulk up the numbers of the other Koki 100 Series types I have, Nariichi had a photo of the poster for it on his facebook page and it is also on the Tomix site.

Of the 20 something wagons and 100 something containers I own from the pics I posted earlier.  Not one shares the same running number.  I understand the illness.

The ED75s are here.  And you lot thought my depot picture post was a joke...

My project was initially only needing one ED75-1000 for a diorama project.  However, extra traction is always welcome. ;)

What's the proper collective term for that many ED75s?  A passel?  A herd?  A murder?

Received another new addition to my growing 'Getaden' collection, as well as another 72系:

Tomix HG 72系 Tsurumi-sen 'all metal car'.

Unlike the previous 72系 set, which consisted of 3 rebuilt 63系 cars (KuMoHa73形 (former MoHa63形), MoHa72形 (former MoHa63形) and SaHa78形) and a new built KuHa79形 (79-300 sub series, introduced in 1954), the Tsurumi-sen set includes two 'all metal' cars of the final two production batches for the 72系 delivered in 1957. The construction used for the rebuilt 63系 cars as well as any MoHa72形 and KuHa79形 cars built before 1957 where often referred to as being of semi-steel construction, with the roof being of wooden construction. This was a construction method specified during the war as a way to reduce the amount of steel used for civil purposes, as well as a reduction in copper. As a result, when the 63系 was designed in 1944, it was built using those revised building standards, resulting in a rather simple and crude vehicle (wooden roof, 3-section windows, crude and simplified electric structure). Though the design called for a higher standard of completion, the wartime circumstances prevented this from happening. Mass production started in late 1944 and continued until 1948.
The design flaws of the 63系 where brought to light in a horrible manner by the 1951 Sakuragichō fire, where a broken overhead wire landed on top of the roof of a train consisting of 63系 cars, causing a short circuit and setting fire to the wooden roof. The wooden roof, flammable paint and faulty wiring led to an inferno, and to make matters worse, the 3 sided windows didn't open far enough to allow them to be used as an escape route, while the end doors opened inwards blocking another escape route. In all 106 people died while 92 people where injured in the two car affected by the fire.
As a result of the fire, and bad press the 63系 was receiving due to the accident, J.N.R. decided to remedy most of the issues the series had, and remodel them into the improved 72系 (back then still using the old MoHa XX designation system) between 1951 and 1954 while simultaneously starting production of new built MoHa72形/KuHa79形 cars to supplement the remodeled 63系 cars (KuMoHa63形, MoHa72形, SaHa78形 and KuHa79形 types of the same series (overlapping types where placed in different sub-series e.g.  KuHa72-100~250 are ex 63系 cars, while numbers 300 and up where new builds)). Though almost every design flaw of the 63系 was improved upon with both the remodeled, and the new built cars, the wooden roofs remained until 1960 when all 72系 car went through another modernization program and received new sheet metal roofs (as well as a few other changes).

Anyway, to get to the point, as the new built cars of the 72系 where built in a transitional period (1952~1957) there where some evolutionary changes made to the design, especially visible with the KuMoHa79形 cars. While the original new built cars retained the 63系 style flat front, with the introduction of the KuHa79-301 (odd numbers) sub-types in 1954 a new 3 panel windscreen tilted at a 10 degree angle was introduced (the same principle later used for the 101系, 103系 etc.). But the biggest changes where introduced with the 1957 KuHa79-920 and MoHa72-920 sub-types featuring a full metal car body based on experience with the prototype 10系 passenger cars, 2 sided sash windows, new trucks and a new interior, providing a large number of features that would be used for the first of the 'new performance' trains, the 101系, introduced in the same years.
While the 63系 was originally designed for a limited service life, the final examples, now living their days as 72系 where retired in 1985 the oldest cars reaching a 40 year service life. The cars used on the Tsurumi-sen where replaced by 101系 cars in 1980.

That Tomytec guide has much information for diorama building, very interesting read!

I wanted to get a case too, but didn't have a use for it....  :(
