Those aren't just new releases, but Tomix World only releases. Only available through the Tomix shop in Ōmiya.

 

Just to add on, they have been around for sometime now.. Shouldn't there be something new soon?

 

Just like the Tomix 93519 E3 Arigato Komachi that was so rapidly snapped up at the Tomix World at Omiya....

Most of the photos show 6 car sets with cab-pantograph-middle-middle-pantograph-cab arrangement. Afaik these sets are also known as Nankai 3000 series. Apparently 4 car sets exist in a cab-pantograph-middle-cab arrangement.

The JR Hokkaido KiHa 54 is a surprise. There only exists a Greenmax model of it now, and an expensive one at that. I want it because it fits nicely in my KiHa-subcollection, but on the other hand maybe I should just wait for Tomytec to release the JR Shikoku version, since the release of that one has become highly likely now considering Tomytec's releasing history. I still prefer buying trains for a region I am already sort-of collecting for than getting a random train from Hokkaido. The red still looks better on it than the blue though...

I think they look really good. I had reservations regarding this set, especially seeing it priced so high... But I am glad I got just the 3-car basic set... The body and final paint design looks really good...

That is some expensive fall protection.  I mean.  Who is gonna fall down in my layout.  They travellers are all static and they are stuck in glue! haha

Thanks JR500, I haven't used amiami's postage before, is the SAL option only available up to ¥6000 in value? Was that in another topic talked about recently? Amiami do have good discounts on the base price

AmiAmi is almost 10% cheaper than HobbySearch.  But yes over 6000 yen you are limited to e-parcel or EMS.  So I only buy a large order from them.  Cos one item is say 2800 yen to ship.  Then 4-5 items is 3200 yen to ship.

 

An item like the one above would be 1680 yen shipped by HobbySearch using SAL.  Make up your mind whether the extra 1000 yen is worth it.  Or can be saved buying from AmiAmi.

 

My last order had 9 items.  I averaged 150 per item savings.  So 1350 cheaper for 1150 more shipping.

 

Most of the time, I just attempt to stay under 6000 yen.  But if you gotta go over.  Go over in a big way to maximize your savings.  The below order was supposed to have another 2200 yens worth of backordered products.  But they couldn't furfil those backorders.

I've had 104s and 106s before.  But sold them on.  The lack of variety in the running numbers gets me every time.  If I don't find more 104s and 106s in the short term.  They will probably suffer the same fate.

Thanks for the above explanation Katoftw, I'll look into it. As JR500 said it is an expensive 3 car set even at Amiami's discounted price of ¥10080 plus shipping. The NZD has gone weak against the yen lately so I might just hold off for a moment. I hadn't bought anything for a while but then thought Id better check the exchange rate first.
