Everyone getting Tomix calenders from him this month?

While I haven't gotten anything from MTP (guilty yes) for a while, it is only Nariichi san's style to include lovely pamphlets and trick lets with each order, something that I always look forward to when I open his parcels....  🙂

I got my first bookshelf style Tomytec Collection case. I'm delighted to find a surprise unpainted "Ghost" trailer in the box. I don't know why but I just love it.

Do people usually paint those or just leave them? Weirdly the truck should be easier than a train as you can get away without lettering it beyond the numberplates, although the container will need something.

Just ordered the four OHaNe 15s for the Fuji from Hobbysearch. After finding that Tomix are making them again under a different item number.

Hi guys! Received Received the GHQ Bucyrus Erie 30B crawler crane, wich will be (of course) abandoned. Looking for info if this crane was ever in Japan, surprisingly find out that it was built under license as Komatsu-Bucyrus, so it won´t be that out of place on the layout. Also received this Walthers facility https://www.walthers.com/central-gas-supply-kit-1a2638. Sooooo I think I have enough of buildings at last. Hope to start with the layout design soon.

I think they do these mainly as sort of collector items. I got a ghost portram with my portram case. Some of the special vehicles in tomytec sets are ghost cars. I have a translucent pearl 280z from that set.

They are included in almost every case for which ever collection they come from.... And being a bus fan, no prize for guessing which 'ghost' model I have the most!  🙂

Although I would very much wished I had the skills to transform them into beautiful work of arts like what the Japanese does with theirs...

I'd actually like to have a go at that myself. I'm looking for airbrush/masking projects. I don't really have the skills either, but I love a challenge!

I have the same building on my layout, doesn't look terribly out of place (I've traveled around on google earth and seen a couple of Japanese LPG/LNG dealers that look similar). I do want to build a small open warehouse for the smaller tanks though, also don't know that the smaller horizontal tanks are used in Japan.

Yes! I also have been looking on facilities and seems to be OK for a downgrade on the big spherical storage tanks. I'll take a pic soon of all the buildings I have to work on this layout 😉

From the "old loose junk by the cheap bucket" corner of Yahoo Auctions, a Kato Musashino line 205 series:

Actually in quite good condition, except missing a bunch of couplings (the same type of which I had fortuitously just removed from another train) and one of the end cars, which I shall need to procure separately.

I was slightly mystified by the (somewhat crudely) attached "headboard"

The background seems to be a very stylised "AD", and evidently an "ADトレイン" is JR's name for trains where the internal (and sometimes external) advertising space is leased to a single advertiser (very annoying IMHO), and these used to bear headboards of varying designs like the one pictured here: https://blogs.yahoo.co.jp/shinagawa_11_103/64208068.html though I haven't found this exact design.

There'll be a moulding which should fit around the dummy coupler under the cabs, Kato may still have them depending on whether they still make a 205 Series.

Still waiting for various bits! Getting a bit worried about the first batch of Hokutosei coaches as they're now two days past the end of the forecast delivery window.

This appears to be from Kato set 10-446 which looks like it never had the bits to start off with. Some newer sets look like they have, but they don't appear to be a separate part. Anyway an interesting challenge for the round tuit list.

Happened upon the OE version of D51 498 and couldn’t resist to complete the set. I already have the standard version of 498 but nice to see a better model than the older Roundhouse one from a few years ago. Still no proper spoked leading wheel at the front so already swapped this out for a spare I had from replacing the various steamies and EF10/15s. I’m hoping this will be rectified for the C56s in November.

Interesting. The last normal D51 had see through spoked wheels last year. So wonder why not on this.

I was a little surprised too, especially as all the newer SL releases have the updated spoke wheels. Am happy this is the newer tooling D51 as I wasn’t a fan of the motor block taking up the space in the cab.

Received my Tomix 98947 Twilight Express limited edition set with interior lighting already installed, as well as some spare parts for an upcoming project (will post about it if successful).
