What has horse got to do with train? On Chinese context, the 馬 is horse and the 尺 refers to ruler. So a station is a horse ruler.  :)

Collected a parcel yesterday from Plamoya:

The Tomix Kiha48-500 Umineko went on a big sale recently on Plamoya, hence decided to try my luck at this store for the first time. Not too bad at all!

Grabbed a Tomytec Tokyo Sky Tree model (1/2000 scale) too since it was available. This piece is highly sold out elsewhere... Definitely looks good with those changing LED lights, and together with the Tobu Spacia It makes a really nice scene on the layout!

Does that livery have a name?

Not that I am aware of. I cannot find much about this painting.

From my understanding this locomotive was painted after it was decommissioned. During its service years unit 502 wore the standard colors. The only picture I can find of unit 502 in this paint is dated Aug. 4th 1987 which I believe is during that timeframe Hokkaido was playing with paint schemes.

This Tomix set has a date of 1988 for paint

I cannot find a date on MicroAce but appears to be same era.. late 80s

This weekend the Tomix JR Kyushu Series 800-1000 and the MicroAce Series Eidan 03 Hibya Line arrived. The Kyushu Shinkansen looks more beautiful live than on pictures. Very Happy with it.Fast shipping too.I'm impressed with the MicroAce details on the Eidan.I used it every day on my vacation in Tokyo, to go from Umejima Station all over Tokyo. Thank's Nariichi Takayama (http://www.modeltrainplus.net)  and keitaro

How did you find this bargain? There's no train section in the bargain section...  :icon_scratch:

Did my usual Akihabara round a bit earlier this week, came across a bunch of these on sale for 3780 yen in TamTam and as I have a weakness for centre-cab locos and want to expand my horizons beyond the usual Kato/Tomix mix, I gave one a new home:

post-1206-0-51107200-1418048730_thumb.jpg

It's a MicroAce DD16, model A7510. Seems to be an older design, latest production run was 2007 as far as I can tell, and the headlights are evidently not LEDs. It was a bit juddery out of the box but has improved with a bit of running-in. Though it's not as smooth as my newer Kato and Tomix locos, depressingly predictably it performs more satisfactorily than most of my British stuff...

Released Jan 2014 according to the A7510 part number.  It is to be combined with A7511 Russel Head snow ploughs.

The MA DD16 is a tough little loco. My example - light blue - runs a little roughly (it doesn't get much action on Kanjiyama for that reason) but is powerful...it happily tackled a rake of 19 Kato tankers on our old layout, which included a 1/40 gradient with a reverse curve.

There are certainly older releases, of which I suspect this is one, as TamTam's bargain corner is generally full of older stuff they want to get rid of.

They had those too, but no snow on my layout ;)

This one was a bit rough at first but has smoothed out. It's also very sensitive to unclean and otherwise problematic track, presumably in part at least due to the short wheelbase. Cleaned the track up and it's running nice and smoothly at slow speed except over one or two problematic track sections. It'll certainly be useful as a track tester.

Well I could be wrong, not ruling it out...  Can't find any information on the packaging about the lot number. Where did you find the Microace information? Their PDF doesn't have a date on it.

This week's acquisitions... Damn, lots of sales on at the moment...

On the left, a Modemo Hakone-Tozan railway type 2, 2004 lot but in mint condition, runs very nicely. Pretty sure I've been on the original.

On the right, JNR/JR 203 class from MicroAce (A8280); bargain from Yamada Denki in Ikebukuro, which as I have suspected is not really a model railway retailer but has inherited a bunch of stock from somewhere which isn't being renewed. Anyway they seem to be trying to get rid of their remaining MicroAce stuff, and this was going for 8,000 yen + tax. One of those classes I've always had a bit of a soft spot for, so hard to resist. Runs very nicely, though the front/rear lights are a bit flickery.

i have both of those too.  both very nice.  the 203 though I have with the JR markings as you do rather than the slightly more cool old-school JNR head markings.   Still, the 203 is an interesting case where on one hand it should be a fairly quickly forgotten pretty generic EMU and yet for some reason it stands out and gets collected.

Two weeks ago when I was in the USA, I got a bunch of stuff that had been waiting for me for quite some time, including:

- Keio 9000 MicroAce (finally! - now bring on the 8000!)

- Eidan 7000 MicroAce Yurakucho line

- E655 Nagomi with royal car.  no idea why I got this but everybody seemed very excited about it, so i got it too.  on the plus side it's a great looking train and a  great looking model.

- E259 Nex Kato - I love riding the nex.  didn't open it yet.

- Kato  181-100 Toki/Azusa.   As an azusa completist, i could not not get this.  superb kato fniish and coupling.

In an ideal world it'd be a JNR version, but at that price it would have been a crime to let it sit there. I really need an Eidan 6000 series to go with it now...

And an Odakyu 1000, an Odakyu 9000, a JR 207-900, a JR 209-1000, and an Eidan 06 as well maybe? Then you have all covered for the early 2000s (unless you want to limit yourself to the Jōban Local service, then you don't need the Odakyu trains).
