Kato - New Releases

I also asked 鉄道模型 F MODELS about 3 weeks ago if they could get me one of the cars and they would see what they could do. After hearing about the chaos I had given up hope but they emailed me today to tell me they had secured one for me and I'm just waiting for the bill.

Now THAT is customer service! Haha...

Wow, that's wonderful! Damn I should have thought of asking them, just figured they were not going to get into the fray!

Motoko Ann san is very helpful!

HHhmmm seems like those that went to the exhibition but didn't get the imited car could write in to Kato to request for it, and Kato will send it to them, with evidence of ticket to show they have been there?

I just got the bill and they're charging me ¥4500 shipped to Canada... Basically they're not charging any extra. Talk about service. Makes me really miss Japan.

So here's what I really wanna see from Kato in the next year:

---Imperial train full set w/ carriage.

---Kintetsu 50000 Shimakaze (realistically when this comes out it will probably be MA or GM)

---Refurb 253 series in Nagano (3-car) or Nikko/Kinugawa (6-car) livery.

Kato already has the molds for the 253 so it's just a matter of running it off with the new paint job.

I've seen on a few blogs indicating that Kato can get away with selling either 5 carriages of the E655 Imperial train, or just the single Imperial car, but not the entire lot of 6 carriages in one go due to JR permission.  So for the near future, it would only be available as 5+1, not a single set of 6.

Here's one of the blogs...

Then again, you never know...

That's ok by me, and I'm sure all the other modelers who already have the 5 car E655 and don't want to buy another whole set just to get the Imperial car.

Guest keio6000

has anybody heard anything about the Kato Eidan 6000 which appears as a potential 2013 release in the current catlog?  Would be interested in any news, especially as it's highly unlikely to be released this year now.  Is it still on schedule?

I would be perfectly happy to sell my MicroAce equivalent (or trade straight up if anybody prefers the somewhat HTF microace version)  and get the Kato version plus queue my usual rant about MicroAce not making a Eidan 8000 Hanzomon Line for some reason (only a Tokyo Metro version), bad for those of us who otherwise have a perfectly good collection to model mid-1980s futako-tamagawaen station :) (now "futako tamagawa", for reasons i dont exactly understand--the park is still there.)

Motoko San came thru for me as well for an imperial car and a few tomix cars i wanted! they must have been able to get a little pile of them!

Hmmm... concrete and canted H0 track...

Is that a Hokkaido type D51?

It's nice, that ヨ3500 but I have been waiting for a reproduction of the ヨ8000 for ages.

Also the Giesl ejector fitted D51. There were 34 of them all based on Hokkaido.

Micro Ace made a version many years ago but only as part of the Rotary Snowplough set. Kato's version will be to 1/150 and not 1/140.

Oh blast, another Yamanote E231 I need to buy. :)

And another E233. I hadn't even heard of the 7000; yikes! How did I miss that?

It was to be expected Kato to release the Yamanote Rirakkuma E231... I don't know how long it ran though. Maybe two weeks or so? The last time I saw the green commemoration set, it didn't wear the Rirakkuma ads any more. I wonder what the resale value would be :D

And the E233-7000: hmmmm~ I really like that train, despite it being the nemesis of the 205...

HHhmmm... The Rirakkuma Yamanote is really really cute! Would love to get the 3-car set!

Here's a little video to 'enforce' the buying heart, or to poison the weak at heart! I know i'm poisoned!

I'm sitting on the fence for the E233... I mean, there are much variations out there, and i still liked the Keiyo Line version the best... The red strips grow on the grey backing nicely  ~~~

I might have to move the setting of my layout to Hokkaido.  Two different Hokkaido based D51s and 2 and 10-packs of SEKI coal hoppers.

The Yamanote line in general has never really appealed to me from a modelling point of view, at least this special colour scheme adds a bit of relief from the identical trains running round in circles.

I hope your wallet is thick. Hokkaido modelers have a lot coming this January. 785 Super Hakucho, 183 Asahiyama Zoo Renewal, 183-100 Marimo, Two D51 Steamers & seki cars, and DD16-15

I like these new D51s compared to the older D51s.  Bit more colour and detail with the copper coloured pipework.

The C62 look great:-

it's DCC friendly?

NGDCC has a decoder for the C62.

A decoder can easily be hardwired into the tender of the newer D51s, the insides of the tender are even made to fit an MRC sound decoder and speaker, I've done a couple of these now I'm going to have more to do.
