Welshbloke
Just had a look at those, only snag is that I don't speak that much Japanese and would therefore struggle to order any! I can easily knock a couple of lighting units together using stripboard (circuit board with pre-drilled holes and copper strips which you cut to size, then break the strips where you want to insulate parts of it). I'll get them running first and then think about it. I notice that the chassis have the little pegs for the TN couplers to clip onto, they're on the "might add later" list too. Link to comment
JR 500系
A parcel was dropped off yesterday from MTP containing: 1) Tomix 92822 - Finally, after a long wait the Railstar is back again with power couplers! 2) Tomix 485-3000 series Hakucho - Really nice looking 485 variation train. I love these variations of the 485s, and this livery comes with a bright coloured yellow front with striking 485 North East Express wordings, and HG version with TN couplers! :) 3) Greenmax Techno-Inspector - YES! Finally the Odakyu tracks have their own doctor! Very nice looking, and just waiting for the 1000 series now to run... 4) Kato 10-891 E231-500 4-car add-on set - Finally changing my E231-500 to a newer set, and hoping to get the full consist this time. Also right in time for the Kato Destination sticker promo, so I got myself one sheet courtesy of MTP. 5) Tomytec All Island bus 27 & 28 - continuing the collection of the JB series. 6) Tomytec Central Japan high speed bus set 2 - Another 5-bus set of high speed buses, the Fujiyku Resort bus looks great! 7) Tomytec special Odakyu bus set 3 - MTP went the extra mile to get this special set for me from Odakyu. Thanks! Edited November 10, 2015 by JR 500系 5 Link to comment
serotta1972
Looks like early Christmas - what am I saying, it's been Christmas all year long for JR500. :) I too just received the Tomix Railstar and it's beautiful and I just might be becoming a Tomix Shinkansen convert and also got the Series 100 "Spacia" Nikko Special Event Livery and it's one bold looking train. Welshbloke
Parts to start the restoration of my Tomix 211-0 "City Liner" arrived. It now has a complete pantograph and TN couplers, with a pair left over for the SaHa if I ever find one. Is it normal to have to attack the bogies on the power car with a razor saw to clear the coupler units? Mine should be ok on sensible curves but there's very little clearance under there. I took as much plastic off as I dared without weakening the bogie frames. Link to comment
Eurostar25
Also guilty of the Tomix Railstar, what a long wait! But in the end with SAL shipping it only took 8 days from Japan to NZ, almost the same as EMS! Very happy to finally have it though. Got to stop collecting and start using. Link to comment
katoftw
I got my Tomix 700-7000 Railstar also today. 12 day wait. Also got Tomix 5.6mm black wheels in the same shipment. Link to comment

Ken Ford
A pair of Modemo Toden 8800s arrived yesterday - one yellow, one rose red. These are nice little models that make a nice change of pace from my usual Randen interests Link to comment

railsquid
At a tad over 4600 yen, I was unable to resist a Kato Kumoni 13: I really wanted a Kumoha 12 but they seem to have sold out. 7 Link to comment
Irish Padre
I can identify with that - below is my latest bargain purchase. A discount code from EBay helped too...worked out at about 50GBP all in... 1 Link to comment
Welshbloke
I may be having a KuMoHa 12 and KuMoNi 13 over the next couple of months (birthday and christmas present suggestions when my brother asked what I'd like). Interesting to see Kato adopting a new design of Tightlock coupler for these, it's more like the Tomix one without the extra hook underneath. Link to comment
enodenlover
Thanks to couple of packages from Hobby Search that arrived last week, my fictional Japanese town ( located in the "Kitchentable Prefecture" ) increased in size quite a bit: Tomix corner shops ( 1 set of 2 ) Tomix small office building A Tomix sm. office bldg. B Tomix apartment house ( red roof ) Diotown fruit shop Diotown gable roof house 3 Greenmax fire lookout tower I also received a pack of four Diotown Toyota minivans and a pack of Tomix steel frame catenary masts. Martijn Meerts
Still haven't ordered anything new, I may have gotten over my addiction. Which resulted in me actually working a bit on the base woodwork of the helix again ;) Of course, I did put up my oval of 0-gauge track and ran my Lenz trains on it for a bit, and I'm really rather tempted to pick up my 0-gauge project again as well. Good thing is, that requires a LOT of planning first before there's the need to buy anything. Link to comment
Welshbloke
Just opened a Tomytec TM-14 chassis, which will be going under KuMoHa 123-1 when that arrives. I've given it a quick test by hooking a power feed up to the length of double track viaduct I have set up on a shelf at the moment, seems fine. Will give it a good long run when the bodywork arrives, but even now it performs pretty well. I have the interesting problem of owning one Tomytec EMU which lacks a motor (JR 105 Series, the trailer wheelsets for the KuHa arrived yesterday) and a chassis with no body. Can't do the obvious as the 105 is designed for a TM-18, which should be here in a week or so judging by the date it was dispatched! Link to comment
marknewton
A parcel from forum member Keitaro's online shop Loco1hobby arrived yesterday. It contained a six-car set of Tomix Series 581/583 EMUs, a Tramway DD14 diesel loco, and a pair of of MicroAce electric locos - an ED60 and an ED61. All in 1/80th scale, and all beautiful models. And all at a good price too, so I'm a very happy customer! :) Cheers, Mark. 1 Link to comment

ToniBabelony
Just ordered a ridiculously cheap 8-car set of Zj gauge 485 Series (Hitachi livery) from Akia (a now defunct company). It was only ¥980 for the total batch and contains one motor car and a few rails. I have no intent to use this train as a whole, but rather use it to source parts from it. Mostly the wheel sets, possibly the bogies, but mostly the motor car are of interest. The motor car contains two driven bogies, which I want to use to rebuild to single powered units for N Narrow projects, like this and possibly like this. The latter solution is a bit complicated, but worth a try if I can find sprockets that small. It all looks very simple, but so damn tiny... However, it's not impossible. If the conversion is satisfactory, I might consider buying more cheap sets like these and source them for the powered bogies and wheels. Edited November 19, 2015 by Toni Babelony 3 Link to comment
