Densha
I can't afford all of this this month, but I bought a few Tomix buffers, another mini-platform (making three double platforms out of two sets) and another mini-point set. I feel I can now operate a small railway company with six points, though I want a few more points (maybe eight or 10) and a bit more rolling stock (at least 10 cars) to approach the 'realism' of a small company a bit more. 06CBDE15-B532-47D7-98C6-C537327FFFEA.JPG Buildings will come much later. I can't have this laying around when the misses is at home. You were actually intending to change to Unitrack right? Did you go with Tomix after all because they didn't make normal small radius switches? (those 45 degree switches seem rather useless to me) Link to comment

Maybe I'll use Tomix for the large project I'm planning with a friend as well, since I really like the geometry. The main lines will be KATO tracks, but I figure I can use Tomix for 'my' local line to simulate a different gauge or a less heavy feel than the KATO tracks. Also, the tight curves will be of use in some Enoden-style street running and windings through residential areas. Also yeah, those KATO 45˚points are a pain in the butt. I haven't done any testing/research but it's a shame they didn't release 30˚ points. If they had, I'd gone for KATO tracks 100%, since I love the Unijoiner system, sturdiness, reliability (which can be an issue with Tomix) and overall looks. Also, the KATO Unitram really appeals to me as well... Edited April 10, 2013 by Toni Babelony Link to comment

HHhmmm they somewhat sounded familar! I'm guessing we bought about the same thing! I got 2 of the hospitals to try and combine them to become taller/ larger. Densha
Received my MicroAce JR Shikoku 2000 series Uwakai today. It took less than two weeks to get here by SAL from Fmodels. After this package was sent out Fmodels I ended up with communication problems with them concerning an upcoming reservation as mentioned in the relevant topic. But for this shipment they even checked the motor and lights for me, I'll let the fact that I wasn't able to pay with Paypal until two weeks later slide. The package: What's inside: Out the box, on the tracks: Some details: The model is very good, the detailing and technique is splendid, just like on my JR Shikoku 8000 series. I think it even houses the same super silent and precise motor. The only thing I found noticeable was how the Arnold couplers looked slightly cheaply made (and tinier?) compared to the other Arnold couplers I've seen so far. But they probably do the job for now and when I can always get TN couplers. 1 Link to comment
Densha
Miku trams look nice, and not too difficult to assemble. However, I'll be waiting to see if anyone finds a power unit that fits to motorize these trams. I found these pages (of the same author I think) that describes the detailing and motorizing of these: http://www.diotown.com/creative/2013/04/yukimikudensha.html http://minkara.carview.co.jp/userid/1509391/blog/c840209/ I think it's Tomytec chassis that he used, but I don't think he wrote down what's exactly inside. Also, vids: Link to comment

Nick_Burman
Found in the LHS, a book about modern Taiwan Railway Administration locomotives and rolling stock. In Chinese, of course... snapped it on the spot, who could imagine finding a book about Taiwanese trains in a hobby shop in Brazil? On the way, set of Bachmann 18' On30 boxcars. Reordered Tomytec Tetsudo Collection 16 as Brazilian Post Office swallowed previous order without trace...this time with EMS... Received Kato TaKi9900 tank car, one more JOT tank for my Chichibu train. Received set of 4 books (Pre-Independence BG, MG, NG, Post-Independence locomotives) about Indian Locomotives by the Continental Railway Circle. On the way, book about Russian pre-Revolution NG steam locos. Bought at the LHS, Bachmann HO 4-6-0 - my first locomotive with sound. Reserved Kato TaKi35000 tank car. Cheers NB 1 Link to comment
ToniBabelony
Hurray! Today the Tomytec Railway Collection 17 came out. When I went to the shop they were still unpacking the lot... I only bought a case (with unpainted train) and a closed package. I only bought one, since I already have 6 cars that'd fit in the box anyway (8 cars in total). I was pretty lucky to get a Kotoden 1000 type (#102) in the closed package, as the unpainted train in the case is also a Kotoden (3000 type). So, I now only have Kotoden trains (15m and 16m length) in my collection. Pretty neat! The foam of the case I had to cut a little to make my other trains fit, as they are a bit longer and have their pantographs in a different position. My little collection looks pretty neat now! Eight cars (three two-car consists and two single cars) seem enough for now I guess. Now the only investments go in more track and motorising my two new additions. Anyway, there are no seats in the trains this time, plus the solution of Tomytec for the dummy couplers is a bit shoddy. I think this was a real rush-job for them... 1 Link to comment
macdon
I got some N scale stuff from the post office today.......... 100 x figures and 100 x cars all for $10 including shipping from an ebay seller in Hong Kong. Not bad - good for scene fillers! Also a package from HS - Kato Kiha 47 2-car "Aqualiner" and some Tomix/Tomytec and Kato structures. cteno4
Nice haul Mardon. Glad to hear the missing box turned up. larger/heavier boxes can be delayed the longest in sal it appears. i think its due to space on the plane so little stuff goes first and big stuff can wait awhile... jeff Link to comment

bobquincy
UPS delivered the 2nd gen chassis for the N scale Fujimi monorail. It fits much better than the 1st gen but I already made some small changes to the drawing. The 3rd gen should be perfect and that is the one I will make available to the modelers on this forum. I could make it available on Shapeways but they can't do 2mm threaded holes. ;) The one on top in the photo is my Disney monorail, similar architecture as the Fujimi. boB Link to comment
