mattdwnunder
I have three of the new Hokkaido style D51s on order from Hobby Search (and two with the Geisel ejector). I have often used two of my standard D51s to double head long trains. Is there any word on the parts which would allow this to happen? The coupler should be the same or similar but there will also need to be a snowplow which may or may not be the same as the C62 version. Any advice would be appreciated. Link to comment
mattdwnunder
The operational front coupler and snow plow that moves with the coupler like on the c62. Link to comment

westfalen
Finally! EM13 and FL12 decoders will be re-released in March. MB Klein has them both in stock and Plaza Japan has EM13s. Link to comment
Darklighter
Yes, but it's much cheaper to order from Loco1Hobby, AmiAmi or HS than from MB Klein. (FL12: 9 Euros in Japan, 14 Euros at MB Klein; EM13: 12 Euros Japan, 18 Euros MBK; shipping from Japan is much cheaper, too). ;) Link to comment
katoftw
I'm keen on the D101, but the Japan version comes with a 100V transformer. The rest of world version comes with a 100-230V transformer. And Digitrax dont sell the transformers seperately. Edited January 23, 2014 by katoftw Link to comment
westfalen
Any transformer that puts out the same voltage will do, I think it will take up to 16 volts so it doesn't have to be exactly the same. Link to comment
Melandir
Anyone know if kato ever produced a shinkansen serie 300? I see that HS has opened reservation for Tomix one I personally prefer Kato due to DCC compatibility Link to comment
The Next Station Is...
There is no Kato version of the 300 series. The new Tomix 300 series will have powered couplings which is a nice feature Kato models don't currently have. I'm not bothered by lack of consideration for DCC but I can understand it would put some people off. Needless to say I've preordered the whole set! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Link to comment
JR 500系
Yap.. I believe there's no Kato 400 series too for shinkansens... To note, Tomix doesn't have the tilting mechanism Kato has and Kato doesn't have the power couplers which Tomix has like 'The next station is...' mentioned... Hence the difference in the model makers. Edited January 29, 2014 by JR500 のぞみ Link to comment
katoftw
The Kato EH500 is meant to be re-released in late March, but haven't seen no retailers doing pre-orders yet. Anyone seen any? Link to comment

katoftw
Thanks for the link. I actually registered with them 2 nights ago after searching for the Tomix DD51 Sayonara 8 car set. Whats the difference between a pre-order and tentitive pre-order? Or are they just jumping the gun and trying to sign up people before any real concrete info from Kato? Sinus
Why do you want to preorder instead of buying one as it is back-order in amiami? Not to say that back-order is cheaper than pre-order. Edited January 29, 2014 by Sinus Link to comment
katoftw
Your question relies on the fact that I knew they were able to backorder before my original question. Which I didn't. But I'd be surprized if they could furfil a backorder. I wonder where they get their stock from? Cos HS and PJ cant get it. Edited January 29, 2014 by katoftw Link to comment
Sinus
I have bought from them 3 times already - most of the items were backordered and they got all but one assy part. Once even they collected all backordered items withing one day - complete surprise for me. Ordered on Friday, collected on Saturday, Monday - in Poland, Tuesday at my door. I don't know where they source from. However, several times I noticed HS restocked items available nowhere else. I guess different shops have different sources. BTW. what is PJ? kvp
BTW. what is PJ? Maybe Plaza Japan? It's an ebay store. Link to comment

But I'd be surprized if they could furfil a backorder. I wonder where they get their stock from? Cos HS and PJ cant get it. From my experience they won't be able to fulfill a back-order if the item is not in stock at the manufacturer. I tried it a couple of times and always got a cancellation after 1-2 weeks. Back-orders of items in stock at the manufacturer take only 1-3 days extra. As the EH500 isn't in stock at Kato (http://www.katomodels.com/distribution/stock_search.shtml) chances are pretty slim that they are able to get one before the re-release. Link to comment
katoftw
That is pretty much my thoughts. And I've had it happen twice in the past 2 months. So I'm happy to wait for pre-order. Link to comment

Not sure if I'm going to buy it, since it doesn't fit in my collection, but it sure is tempting if I have the funds for it! Link to comment
