Minelayer
I think using Tomix TN couplers (simple Arnold replacements) will already help a lot. It does with the Tomytec trains. I completely agree. This is one of the main reasons I try to buy Tomix before Kato. Edited February 14, 2013 by Minelayer Link to comment
Guest Closed Account 1
Oi. The full train is shipping in a few days so I'll play with couplers when it arrives.

http://www.katomodels.com/product/assy/pdf/10-1146_7_%5Bhyouga_tokkyuu%5D.pdf Doesn't look like we can close the gap completely but, we'll see when we get them.Does anyone know if the G3 is a Kato, Lemke, or Hobbytrain? I'm guessing decoder board sizes.Digitrax thinks it uses the EM13. Edited February 17, 2013 by Webskipper Link to comment

Guest Closed Account 1
Does anyone have any history on Dr Blue Belt DMU? I only find pics of VT18 in Red. Its probaby lost in translation. "VT18 is 1963 as a vehicle to express the form of the East German State Railways diesel international long distance high speed (DR)" Kato 73710 & 73711, 73712 & 73713, 73714 is the DR Ernst Thälmann train. Serious Pre-WWII history. http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10216040 http://www.modellbahnwelt24.de/Kato-73710-VT-181605-DR-4-teilig-Grundeinheit-GS-Epoche-III-N_1 "Spur N Digitalschnittstelle nach NEM" means NEM decoder friendly. Densha
Pics featuring the E6: https://picasaweb.google.com/ngauge.information/20130220KATO?authkey=Gv1sRgCKzszM3B58HrygE (including a good comparison of the length of a E5 against E6 http://shinosaka.ldblog.jp/archives/6313935.html http://blog.miyakomokei.com/?p=4658 The E6 really does have a long cab. It has interior in the cab. The coupling length of E5+E6 is a bit too large IMO. Link to comment
Guest Closed Account 1
My Kato Glacier Express still has not arrived but, HS has the Bogies, body shells, and floors. http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10202711 Link to comment
traindork
The E6 looks really nice! It's been too long since I bought myself a nice train... Link to comment

VJM
EF56 for June has been announced. Is it just me or are loco prices climbing? This one is JPY7875 Also, yellow Seibu 101kei. Link to comment
keitaro
Might be due to the ddc friendly addition to the locos. Is that tax included u quoted because tax goes up soon Link to comment

westfalen
I just got off Feather River Trains where I reserved two Atlas sound equipped Alco S2 switchers, now I'm down with Hobby Search for a pair of DD13's and and EF56. Oh well, easy come easy go. Edited March 8, 2013 by westfalen Link to comment
angusmclean
I'm a slow learner, so here goes a pic of Kato's latest poster. Already have a Micro-Ace EF56, but the Kato version would be a better runner, and also makes me wonder what Kato's intentions are for future releases of older stock are. Angus 1 Link to comment
keitaro
EF56 just looks epic one i can`t pass up. Ordering off my self 7012-1 http://www.loco1hobby.com/shopdetail/002002000007/order/ lol probably shouldn`t be but ....... I`d like the dd13 but not this time round. Link to comment
JR 500系
Nice! A re-release of the Super view Odoriko and the N700! The N700 leaves me thinking, wouldnt they be releasing the N700A model instead? Link to comment
keitaro
the n700 was getting pretty low with wholesalers, I guess they will likely do it latter in the year unless some one has already jumped in and got the rights and planning a release later in the year. I wouldn`t think it will sell too fast anyway It`s not really that different besides the A and 1 or 2 other visual bits, the rest is well the same... Link to comment
Densha
Yeah there's only a B-Train Shorty of the N700A announced yet. I'm expecting Tomix to release it sometime though, considering they have made most (all?) N700 variations so far. Link to comment
Tecchan
What are the visual differences between the N700 and N700A? Link to comment
Fenway Park
Hi It is a competetive world and Kato has seen MA develop and take a share of their market . Now they are seen as a threat and with a shrinking home market Kato feels the need to remind their home market that they are still competitive. Micro Ace are unlikely to announce a re-run of the Ef56 and there are those who prefer Kato products. The Kato version will be the same if no better than the MA version. Hope this helps. .
