Nick_Burman
Didn't seem to stop the previous one being marketed. Angus Yes - after it had been replaced... Cheers NB Link to comment
westfalen
I don't think we'll see Kato make the extra stand alone car to add to our existing sets anyway, it's more their style to bring out a new set and make us buy the whole thing. My brother has the original SL Banetsu Monogatari set and has always wanted the lounge car but to the best of our knowledge it was never avilable as a seperate item, after it was added to the real train you could buy a new set with it though. I think the extra space was there just in case they managed to get permission to do the Emperor's car. Link to comment
cteno4
Someone just needs to make the Imperial Chrysanthemum seal to put on a car... None the less it is a nice looking train. Jeff Link to comment
Densha
New releases up: http://www.katomodels.com/product/poster/files/2013_4.jpg It's a bit hilarious that I just received my second hand Kiha110-110 (6043 & 6044) and that they are now doing a re-release. The Kiha111/112 seem to have a new article number, but if that means that it is actually renewed is the question. Kato is also releasing the 287系, Tomix is also releasing theirs in 2013. The last new N gauge release is the 2000系. I don't know about that train at all, but Kato seems to have released it in some livery before. For the people doing HO: they are releasing the DE10 in JRF livery. Link to comment

After I saw that you bought a Kiha110, I though that I have to have one from this multiple unit. Now I got the chance. :-) Link to comment
Densha
Haha. Well, I don't mind that I got it second hand, it's like new and it was cheaper. I may get the Kiha111+112 re-release but I first have to make up my mind about what region/trains I really want to model. Link to comment
JR 500系
AHAH! The Kiha 110! The timing Coincidence with Densha's recent purchase is almost perfect! It seems a good train to buy since it can be a single carriage DMU by iteself for my rural line ~ Interesting! What interest me even more is the 2000! Seems like a nice livery to get, esp the 'Green' marking type! The 313 is re-release in a 3-car and 2-car set... Pretty interesting as i have the older 4-car set Kato 10-421... Somehow, the 2000 looks very much similar to the 313... Thanks for the news Densha! *OT - I once read that in some news that railroad modellers often have MUCH MORE train models than their layout can accomodate to run... So True a statement ~ * Link to comment
Densha
After browsing through HS I think that the Kiha110 has LEDs instead of the normal head lights my Kato110's have. That with a change of the case is the only difference. Link to comment
Mudkip Orange
New releases up: http://www.katomodels.com/product/poster/files/2013_4.jpg Dang, lots and lots and lots of 2-car trains for sale this spring. I wonder if they'll re-release the 6-car 313? Link to comment
westfalen
I got my 2013 catalog the other day, (I know, I'm a bit slow), and the thing that caught my eye was in the 'coming next year' pages, a DD13 with a prototype photo of an earlier version than their previous release of years ago. Sadly though, the turntable is still only shown in the 'next year' pages also. Link to comment
westfalen
Does it say "new"? I'm not sure, it's in Japanese. :dontknow: The catalog number of the old DD13 I think was 7001, the new one is 7012-1 and the photo is of a type 1 loco, DD13 70, with the single head light. Link to comment
Densha
After taking a look in my 2012 catalog I don't think they place a "new" mark in it like they do on their website after all. Link to comment

Darklighter
(the gap between the couplers of the Glacier Express hurt my eyes) I guess this is a consequence of the targeted minimum curve radius of just 150 mm... Link to comment
westfalen
Surely closer coupling could be accomplished, this is the worst I've ever seen in this department from Kato, if I had been thinking of buying one that would turn me off. Those big windows cry out for better detailing of the interiors as well. When I looked at the loco the first thing my eyes were drawn to was the wheel off the track. I still think it will be interesting to see how well these sell considering they don't conform to any scale/gauge combination in use in European modelling and so no other RHB rolling stock is available to run with them. Darklighter
My KIHA110 has LED lighting… Mine too. ;) They changed the color of the headlight from yellow to warm white (http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10212524). Link to comment
Densha
Mine were yellow too, I didn't have a real close look to them but I found that it took a while until they were bright (with leds usually it turns on before the motor start running) so I presumed they were not leds. I will probably pre-order both Kiha111+112 sets to go with my Kiha110's so I will take a look at those light units again. Link to comment
Densha
I actually just found out that Kato Roundhouse is doing a JR West Okayama-based 115 series in new livery (http://www.katomodels.com/product/nmi/115kei_1000_okayama.shtml). I'm looking for info if it is used on the Uno Line and/or also across the Great Seto Bridge to Shikoku. I know some 113/115 units do so but I can't find info if they also do in this color and in 3-car formation. Link to comment
Ochanomizu
Hello Densha, We call this color the "cafe-au-lait". Of course, it is used on the Uno Line between Okayama and Uno. Here is some confirmation: http://blogs.yahoo.co.jp/nsm87841/30101679.html However, the organisation of 10-931 is not correct for the Uno Line. You require + 1 SaHa 114 in "cafe-au-lait" color. Kato has not made the product. 1 Link to comment
Densha
Thanks for the info! I've seen a 115 series in yellow and Shonan livery in both 3 and 4 car sets on the Uno line but just like you I can't find any confirmation about a 4-car in this livery either. I found this pdf but using computer translation it doesn't make any sense but it does mention Shikoku in the balloon on the right and the main text mentions Kotohira and Kanonji: https://www.e-katomodels2.com/img/goods/1/115keiokayamaokyakusama.pdf Link to comment
E6系
Helo Densha, Ochanomizu's link IS the confirmation you are looking for. :) Link to comment
Densha
I know, I should have been more specific: the pdf file says (I think) that it is used on the Uno Line and/or to Shikoku but that is exactly what my point is because the pdf is about the 3-car Kato model. Hence I want to confirm that the text in the pdf is wrong or correct. Link to comment

Now, I read the PDF file too. I am confuse also. I will ask when I am next in the Liberty shop. ラウンドハウス仕様の4両化粧箱 ..... Is 4-car set an option? Link to comment
