KATO's model of the E655 is very well done, the dimples are the same as on the real thing. You can use them (if you have a steady hand) to stabilize your drill. https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:JRE-E655inOku.jpg Also MiyakoMokei has a video where he shows how to do it. Sheffie
I don’t know about anyone else, but when it comes to superfine drilling jobs in plastic, I never trust myself with any kind of power drill. Instead, I use the smallest straight edge screwdriver bit I can find, and drill by hand using alternate clockwise/anti-clockwise turns. I feel like I need that level of control over the speed and pressure. It really doesn’t require a lot of either. Link to comment

cteno4
Pin vises and fine drills are your friends. They can be had inexpensively on ebay as well. Small drill bits are so easy to snap off using a pin vises so i only use my good bits for special stuff and the cheap ones for the rest. Plastic is super easy to go thru so you don’t need super great bits. https://www.ebay.com/itm/20X-Marvelous-Mini-HSS-High-Speed-Steel-Twist-Drill-Bit-Set-Tool-Craft-Case-EN/222676127837?epid=1182777204&hash=item33d888105d%3Ag%3APs4AAOSwjaRZwlnq&LH_BIN=1 And for sizes you use (and break) all the time get a pack of 10 https://www.ebay.com/itm/10Pcs-Micro-HSS-0-3-3mm-Straight-Shank-Twist-Drilling-Bits-Sets-Tiny-Dura-HK/223292377956?hash=item33fd434b64%3Am%3AmRFyAU8V0jKTo1hQmBRPYxQ&LH_BIN=1 handy pin vise and bit set https://www.ebay.com/itm/Swivel-Head-Pin-10x-Micro-HSS-Twist-Drill-Bits-For-Jewelry-Watch-Hobby-Hand-Tool/362468292800?hash=item5464cb38c0%3Ag%3AtDAAAOSwSVdb0EbZ&LH_BIN=1 and lastly if those small holes are not quite big enough these dental root canal files are very handy to get the hole just right! https://www.ebay.com/itm/1-Pack-Dental-Stainless-Steel-Root-Canal-REAMERS-Hand-Use-H-K-Files-21-25-31-mm/202594771421?hash=item2f2b96e1dd:g:V9AAAOSwUR9cYick Also put a needle in your in pin vise and make a divit where you want the hole if there is not one already. If you try to start drilling with a pin vise on smooth plastic the tip can easily wander. cheers jeff 1 Link to comment

They also added brown variants (the same color as the single crossover ties). 1 Link to comment

Das Steinkopf
The poster for August's releases is up and has a bit of a 115 Series and JR East bonanza, luckily for myself there is nothing that I am after as I have already committed myself to other purchases. https://s3-ap-northeast-1.amazonaws.com/kato-model/poster/pdf/201904011036255ca16b19e4fe6/2019-8.pdf 1 Link to comment
chadbag
Dang, there is an updated JR 321 series... Plus they already announced for June or whatnot a re-do of the previous JR 321 (of which I need the 4 car add-on). Link to comment

Kiha66
Man what a huge disappointment, for all the "upgrades" kato is still keeping the single piece moded roof. Seeing as their older cars are available for about $10 each with the same amount of detail I wont be paying the massive price increase for these coaches. I care less about that small prototype seam than the massively obvious one piece vents right next to it. The "prototypical ac units" is a very poor justification for the price increase imo seeing as the parts were made for previous models and wont require new molding for this one. 😡 1 Link to comment
