Tomix - New Releases

Recommended Posts

Ah yes finally, the Central Liner! Surely getting this, but isn't it another price increase for a 6-car set?

Well, at least it is in a 3 + 3 formation, only complain is there is only one motor.... do hope they will also release the optional motor with this... It's always more fun to run 2 identical consists with the option of coupling them together instead of just one....

What do you mean by another price increase? It looks like as of now it comes as one 3+3 set.

What I meant was that the price increase for a usual 6-car set, like for example (prices in original Tomix Retail prices):

http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10421299

J.R. Limited Express Series KIHA183-500 `Hokuto` (HET Color) (6-Car Set) limited express train priced at 18,400yen

http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10402425

Tokyo Metropolitan Bureau of Transportation Type 10-300 (4th Edition/Shinjuku Line) (Basic 6-Car Set) commuter train priced at 17,400yen

http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10368106

J.R. Series 200 Tohoku Shinkansen (Unit H) Standard Set (Basic 6-Car Set) even a shinkansen is only priced at 17,800yen

Although there are 2 cab cars... what I would have really loved that Tomix would include was a 2nd motor in the 2nd consist....

Just buy an extra motor unit/chassis if you need it.

That's what I hoped for too, if Tomix would release the 313 compatible motor to go along with this...

Oh man, that is some bad news bears! I have no Shizutetsu trains, but I want to get some later. The problem with the new A3000 type however is that there will be seven liveries, so there will be seven liveries to collect... There seems to be a heavy focus on central Japan with these releases though!

gotta catch 'em all

seriously, it looks really good.. really tempting

Is Tomix perhaps coming out with their own curved bridge - quite different from the Kato version?  It looks like they didn't get the elements settled on the pier as they had planned to - I'm surprised they didn't correct that.  Of course, this could just be one-off for the catalog cover.

They currently have a curved bridge beam for wide viaduct track, but this looks like something new.

That's nothing new.  Been around for years. Its either a (single track) curved Overhead Railway section.

Or a Wide Track PC section on a 3017 single pier with a balustrades attactment.

Bill - what about the bridge structure under track level?  It does look like a modified 3017 pier - which they failed to properly use.

As I suggested, this may well be some custom work for the cover.

I meant the two types of curved concrete support structures above the pier - I didn't see them in the links you gave above.

What I was saying is that they obviously notched the pier for them, and then misaligned things so they're actually floating in space.

The one to the left is a Tomix 1171 (HC 280-45) or similar radius piece. A similar piece is in the photo below with the same underside detail.  This often called Tomix Overhead Railway where the double track version is Tomix Viaduct.

The right side might be a Tomix 3093 or similar.

All long available products.

The railing on the whole upper level may be a kit-bash.

The viaduct elements pictured on the catalogue cover don't look like anything from Tomix I've ever seen before; certainly different to the Tomix 1171 etc.

Gonna have to say the bridge on the catalog cover doesn't really look at all like the existing product images. They do look somewhat kitbashed to me though, and the catalog picture looks like it's a part of a larger layout, the track is also ballasted. The ballast is much lighter than the standard Finetrack ballast.

Imho that's canted wide track with the railings and the wide track bridge beam kits on the standard piers. One of the beams also use a bridge underlay plate that comes with the piers. This seems to be really creative use of 4 Tomix kits.

From what I see the beams are basically just a flat platform.

What I'm not seeing any existing Tomix products for are the bridge side panels - do you know what they are?

Oh man. More HO narrow gauge models. Good looking ones as well... A double articulated Chikuho tram/LRV. I do have a bunch of Tomix mini points lying around, as well as tight curves... Especially the tram is tempting, as it comes in two very attractive liveries.

Ohh these are some very good announcements! The new platforms look great, the H0n models are very interesting and the fact that there will finally be a double articulated tram power unit in N gauge available means both that the chances for Tomytec making other articulated trams are getting higher and that it will get much easier to find a proper power unit for your 3D printed or scratch-built tram!
