Densha
Nice new modern buildings are pedrestian walkways. Oh nice! Those 3D sketches show those clichéd Japanese dense urban areas, which take up a lot of space and cost buckets of money to create in model but are so typical Japanese. Link to comment

cteno4
Wow! Great modern buildings and walkways! Always leave it to tomy tec, a couple of months back I spent an hour fiddling with some chipboard and stryene to see how easily walkways could be built and then use the tomytec overpass stairways to them! This seems to always work, then tomytec releases the thing a month or two after I star pt on something! This time it was just a pile of cut up stock and a few test joinings luckily. Guess it's the mojo I just have to do to get them to produce something! I had also bought two partial kits of the greenmax high rise sets on ebay last winter to use to kitbash something about the size of these buildings as well. Go figure again! Just tell me what you want from tomytec and I'll start fiddling on it and it will get released w.in a couple of months for you! Jeff Link to comment

Ok, then how about a Yurikamome set using the bus system or the tram tracks and the hakotetsu motor unit? :) Link to comment
cteno4
Well when the greenmax monorail came out I did think about the yurikamome automated roadway system and perhaps use Btrain shorty bits and a geared down micro rc car mech to drive it! Guess I didnt do any physical work other than look at the micro rc car mech to see if it could get small enough. Figured battery power and jsut rc for on/off would do and let the raceway guide it. Didn't tomytec come out with a motor unit for the little toy cars that were the same basic size as the hakotetsu cars? Not NMRA clearance on those! Jeff Link to comment
kvp
Didn't tomytec come out with a motor unit for the little toy cars that were the same basic size as the hakotetsu cars? Not NMRA clearance on those! Never heard about them until now. Since the Yurikamome cars use two single axle bogies the models could use any 2 axle power unit. Steering with the roadway is doable, actually some years ago i managed to build it from lego (with guideway steerable bogies, RC control and a few rather crude turnouts), but in N that might be too much to sratchbuild. Seeing the hakotetsu gave me an idea, but i have to check the wheel distances first. For battery power with rubber wheels, i would use small reed relays or something similar for start-stop and maybe two side or roof mounted ones for direction selection with a bistable micro relay. (or mount the direction reeds on one side in each end car and the stop reed in the middle car on the other side) So any ideas how to scratchbuild a working system or to get Tomytec to produce motorized kits would be welcomed. JR 500系
The buildings look nice! What are those yellow 'walkways' in the picture? It looks like an elongated overhead pedestrian bridge with multiple 'arms' to link to the various buildings, just like how they are connected in real life. Link to comment
ToniBabelony
Seeing the hakotetsu gave me an idea, but i have to check the wheel distances first. I think it's ±16mm, measured from my own hakotetsu HM-01 unit. ;) Link to comment
cteno4
Yep they did make the mech for them http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10300862 Yeah when I was knoodlings on the monorail I was thinking od copper tape for electrical. Could work with a rubber wheeled guideway car. Then as photo resistors to do some station stops with a pause controller. I think the guideway could be pretty easy to make, but would jsut do a loop so you saw just parts of it thru some taller buildings. I would not attempt points to begin with, don't seem really necessary. I think you could forgo much of the between the wheels guideway (just a 1mm high darker bit of cardstock to give the illusion it's there and let the outer walls do the steering for the cars. Might get away w.o needing any side rollers and just run it like a hot wheels sizzlers. Also something that could be easily 3d printed for the shell or even printed onto clear acetate as they are pretty boxy and need only a little rounding in profile and just a little front end edge rounding. Wheels and undercarriage are pretty non descript so easy. It would be fun to just keep it simple where maybe only one stop visible and half of the loop is hidden by buildings. JR 500系
Heck I just took a much closer look at that moving bus system road, and boy finally the T-junction comes true! It's great news! Now to take a good look at that moving bus plan.. Link to comment
kvp
You meant the cartoon head coaches as toy cars? Yes, those were the first hakotetsu sets and the new sets are mainly selected so the railwars sets can be extended to full train lengths. I misunderstood and thought about tiny road running passenger cars for the bus system... Thanks for the info on the wheel distance! Link to comment
JR 500系
So the Tomix E4 Max in the new colour is OUT! Anyone got hold of it already? :) Also release, or rather a re-release is the Tomix E233-0 Chuo Line. Finally got a chance to grab this so yes! I sort of have some form of connection with the Chuo line, just don't know why... Link to comment

Krackel Hopper
Does anyone know what the new release poster is trying to say/advertise with the JR 19D containers? To me, the extra picture looks like a loading dock maybe? I really have no clue what that picture is trying to show.. http://www.1999.co.jp/itbig33/10330792k.jpg Link to comment
mrp
Does anyone know what the new release poster is trying to say/advertise with the JR 19D containers? I'm guessing the extra picture is actually talking about the EH500 rather than the container. Google Translate of the yellow text reads “Modified second end on the roof of the duct”. Link to comment

cteno4
I also don't get what the circled detail pict is showing, it's not the doors, looks to be some pallette. Possible they come with a pallette inside for a detail bit? Hey Toni with the containers now with doors we need interesting pallets of various bundled boxes to have out with a few being packed by a mini fork lift on transfer docks. And jsut pallets and plastic transport bins. Come to think of it print a little cargo forklift, small ones have not been done well for japan. Maybe a little one like this one that can get inside trucks and containers, not sure if the larger American ones at 1/160 would fit that are on shapeways. I'll measure my metal kit one but I think it's too tall for a 19d. http://media.machines4u.com.au/machinery/31/222831/Hyundai-LPG-Forklift-15-7M_3578949.l.jpg Jeff Link to comment

Ochanomizu
Hello, I refer to Tomix 98942 which was released in May. http://www.1999.co.jp/10304585 I have been interested in this product for some time and it seem to be widely available. However, I note that it includes one silver a/c on car 1 and all others are matt grey. Can anyone explain this? Link to comment
