Tomix - New Releases

Recommended Posts

All the more enforcing the pre-order descision made then. I'm really glad I ordered this, even though it's not really my scheme. The Shimaze looks just beautiful! I'm thinking how the 'Limited Edition' 6-car box will look like, since the description mentioned 'colour design package adopted'...

Also, this information is useful for interior lighting the train - cars 1, 2, 5 and 6 are white, cars 3 and 4 are orange.

With Tomix announcing the release of the 485 series Kamone Express.  It has really got me thinking (again) about what they are currently marketing.  They really to seem to be delving into previously Micro Ace only terrority.  Great news for model buyers.

I only think of this, as recently Tomix has touched normally low volume/interest stuff like old KiHa diesels (Seaside Liner for example), and now the above Kamone for another example.  But you just have to look though their recent release schedule to see alot of different low volume/interest models.

Anyone else have thoughts on the subject?

Mudkip Orange

I hope it continues. I'd like to see models of some of the more esoteric Kintetsu trains, including the 15400, the remodeled 30000, and of course the 20000. Maybe if the Shimakaze sells well they'll do these as a followup.

Hopefully they might do the Keisei Skyliner.

HHhmmm... But MicroAce has already done that, and I think some shops are still selling these. I'll really like to see more exquisite models like the recent Shimakaze as example...

How about more painted trains? That'll be nice!  :)

How about the Osaka Loop train? Or the 100th Anniversary Yamanote line train?

Also, no one has made the Torokko-Saga train too?

MicroAce released the Keisei Skyliner AE1-2 twice already IIRC. It has been a raging popular model.

It's going to be difficult for Tomix to cover interesting new trains from major companies which MA hasn't done yet. It's risky to release a less interesting train, like the Sōtetsu 11000 Series Tomix did. Basically it was just changing the front design, as it's a straight E233 copy. I think for Tomix it'd be a good idea to wait out the E353 Series for the JR East Chūō line, announce a release before Kato does and offer it with power couplings.

Kato always goes for the safe option, even though it's boring, they are selling. It's like what Toyota has been doing for ages. Tomix is more like Nissan, play it safe, but release some crazy things every once in a while. MicroAce is like Honda, just producing the things they like and be good at it. Greenmax is... Ikea? Maybe like Mazda? xD

My bad!

Along with the E231-500 Sobu Line! Very interesting indeed!

Then there is the 485 Kamome that katoftw mentioned, along with the 165 Moonlight Echigo. Now the moonlight is appealing to me! Which set to get though...

I dont think we will ever see the Sagona Railway in N scale.  They have a comercial agreement with Tenshodo.  And Tenshodo mainly do HO scale.

Although, see pic:-

Well snap them up while you can, I've noticed that they renew their product range quite frequently and older stuff sometimes suddenly becomes hard to find.

I predict that sometime in the next five years I'll buy 2 or 3 of those suburban stations to kitbash into a custom one.

Looking at the simple construction it should be possible to create an extension from scratch, but you would be missing the fence in that case.

Thanks katoftw! Those are from Torokko-Saga station diorama, I presume? They're in HO scale? Amazing....

The rural station kits look very good, real perfect for those rural settings of running a one-car type trains. Amazing detail too downright to the yellow line on the floor...

Come to think about it, this is about the first time I see Tomix release a special edition Yamanote Line.... Kato has been releaseing them for sometime, like the Suica, Midori 100th Yamanote line Anniversary, Rillakuma etc. But I think I haven't seen one from Tomix yet...

Are you talking about the E231-500 for the Chuo-Sobu Line? Then that's not a Yamanote Line train... :P ;)

There is a Chuo-Subo Line limited edition? Edited by katoftw

Yes they are! And a HO Sobu line too!

The limited edition Tokyo wrapping one is the one that's strange why Tomix is making this... Usually Kato is the one to make the wrapping versions... This makes me wanting to get this set more and more since I have a biased preference to Tomix...

They do have the Tomix all wheel pickup.

As for the E3-0 'Nasuno' I am not positive. I think this is a model of the E3-0 sets that ran the Tohoku line just after the transfer.. before the reconfiguration & repaint.. So.. it's an E3 Akita Shinkansen with signs & number boards representing Tohoku Shinkansen.. I think.. someone confirm this?
