Some things I've gotten over the last few weeks, 2 trucks from Cteno4, another Girls und Panzer bus (I didn't realize it's basically the same as the first), and a car collection set from eBay with the best police car ever.

Those trucks look cool, especially the Advan one! is that the Girls and Panzer bus III ? Yes they are almost identical...

I too wish that Tomytec would make a car collection series again, but I seriously doubt so as they seem to be coming out with those 4 in a set type of cars with 2 modern and 2 showa era models. (http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10340707

Is that the secret police car?!

Jeff

i think so too, since it is not listed as a variant on car collection 6, where it came from: http://www.tomytec.co.jp/diocolle/lineup/car/carcolle06.html

Only one way to be sure, could Nick turn the car around to see the part number printed in white at the bottom of the car?

And the re-release of the Kato 'Fun city' SL train... cute little runner, definitely will catch some eyes when running on the tram layout... I think this was modelled after the Bot-chan train?

The Kato SL fun city train looks very European. The Dutch Goes -Borsele line had a tank loco very similar to this when i was there in 1978 and the coaches are generic European

I received a real old timer today in the shape of a Kato 10-912,201 series "Shikisai" which I think has never been run!(Tomorrow might change that!)

To be more precise, the Kato SL is probably based on locomotive no.30 of the SHM (Steam tram Hoorn - Medemblik) museum line, as are the carriages.

The first photo on this page shows the first release of the Pocket Line SL: http://moritakusan.blog.fc2.com/blog-entry-78.html

Compare that to the original: http://nmld.locaalspoor.nl/en/object/1017 & http://nmld.locaalspoor.nl/en/object/1138

The official website has some more nice photos: http://www.stoomtram.nl/en/news/visit-museumstoomtram

Huh, it is the secret police car, it says S18 under it. I paid $11 for both so I think (I thought it a bit much but I just wanted the police car) I actually ended up with a deal.

It is GuP bus 3, I had to look hard to see the differences (aside from the lack of a roof stripe). The printing looks about the same as the first one, may be a little more crisp but no huge improvement.

Here it is in action.

That's a Toyota Crown S180. The secret police car is a Nissan March K12.

Oh, my bad. Excuse my ignorance but how is it a "secret police" car, when it's clearly a marked car. Shouldn't it be an unmarked car if it's a secret police car? I know next to nothing about Japanese police.

It's a 'secret' car because it wasn't listed in the Tomytec collection. The number 'S18' also indicates it as a secret collectible: http://nnnfish.blogspot.jp/2015/02/tomytec-car-collection-6.html If it's a IRL full sized secret police car, the common name is fukumen (disguise) or 'unmarked police car' in English.

The tomytec vehicle packages usually have a secret vehicle that are in like 1% of the boxes to replace the usual one. They are usually very sought after and worth a lot more than the regular version.

Thanks guys. I have one more question.

I recently discovered the Tomytec car collection while browsing on Hobbysearch. Most of them were sold out. I had assumed that they only produce one collection number at a time and then stop producing them. Is that how it works? Or is it still possible to get any of the collections?

Ran to TamTam to get some things I wanted to experiment with:

Rails and a book that came out recently where 3D printing techniques are combined with 2D printing techniques. I think I need to get an inkjet printer soon...

Yes, Tomytec (as do most companies) does one run of a product and then maybe do a repeat run. Big companies like Tomix and Kato are more likely to do a rerun than others though.

Older Tomytec products can be obtained via Yahoo! Auctions (or a proxy service) fairly easily, but only when available. The prices can also be quite high (even higher than the original price as well if the demand is high).

Today I visited the award ceremony for the Art Factory Layout Award 2017, but didn't win one of the prices. I didn't anticipate one, but I did receive a little complimentary container kit from World Kogei (UM9A). I think these will work out well for little storage rooms somewhere in a backyard on a layout.

I visited the display on Sunday at about 10:00am and was rather impressed, out of curiosity who won first place, I have a sneaking suspicion that it was Mr Seto's module #20 it was an absolutely gorgeous module with ample detail, my wife and daughters voted for it.

Yes, Mr. Seto won the main prize indeed! The latter three modules in your photos also won a prize (JR East, World Kogei, and Sakatsu Gallery in that order).

I really liked the apartment blocks #14, it had that real stark look of suburban Tokyo which tends to get far less exposure than the bright lights and hustle and bustle of places like Shinjuku, Akihabara, Ginza or Shibuya.

Visited Nariichi today. Sadly preordered item wasn't released yet, so I have to pay shipping. [emoji19]

Sounds like Nariichi is getting a few foreign visitors this week, I will be heading over to see him on Saturday to pick up my Hibikie Euphonium pre order as well as some other bits and pieces.

Not hugely exciting but finally received my 2017 Kato catalogue as the in-laws were posting my sons Shimajiro books and DVDs.

Exciting stuff on page 100 for updated releases of DD54, C57 and E351 Super Asuza planned. As an avid Iida Line collector I'm pleased to see a ED62 freight set also planned.

Ooh, thanks for the heads up!  I've been eyeing some of the used (and pricey!) DD54's on buyee, so glad to know I can get a brand new one soon!  Do you know if it will be the high (7010-3) or low (7010-1) headlight release?  Also is the C57 getting updated so there wont be the motor in the cab anymore?

Link to comment

Hi Kiha66

I too have been waiting for an update of the C57 to pull my Heavy Snow Taisetsu. I really don't like the motor drum in the cab or the shiny wheel rims of the current model.

The picture of the DD54 has the low headlights but the windscreen shape of the 7010-3 model. I already have the high headlight version with the Emperor's headmark flags and its a beautiful model and runs silky smooth. I would like one for freight and the Google images seem to suggest that these kicked out a far bit of soot, probably a good one for heavy weathering.
