That's one of the 4 EF58 locos in trial 1950s paint schemes that has come out of the Kato 40th Anniversary Special set (10-260).

I continued my online search for an affordable Lawson store and finally found one at Modellbahn Union in Germany. I'd never ordered anything from a European country and I was a bit surprised to find a company there that has such an extensive line of Japanese train items available. With shipping the store cost about $32 but I don't know what to expect in the way of customs fees. Anybody have any idea what kind of "surprise" I have waiting for me?

All this talk lately of transfer tables and at a train show today in Wichita, KS I snagged a manual Concor/Herkat transfer table for $20! Seemed like a good idea. Manual version has the underside mounts for adding a motor. I have no idea what I'm going to do with it but I quickly checked eBay and the last one sold for $200 so $20 seemed more than fair.. the bridge is missing railings and somehow the roof has been removed from the controllers cab.. Manual slider seems to work well..

A picture of the transfer table (not mine), exact same except mine has the roof removed (for whatever reason)

Endoenlover,

Good news is for stuff sent for your personal use, i.e. Not for resale or business/commercial use there are rarely us duties up to a couple of thousand dollars! Some odd items with restrictions, quotas etc may have some, I've never had a us customs charge for anything I've imported like this for personal use (alcohol, tobacco, etc of course will getcha!)

There may be local sales tax you get charged (some countries make it hard or impossible for the seller to get back the international tax), but that should be on the order itself, not something you would need to pay extra at the post.

For a limited edition set, the lack of TN couplers for the connecting cars are... disappointing...

Next we have the Odakyu 7000 series LSE Old Colour with Logo:

Usual front

post-819-0-10015300-1454815220_thumb.jpg

Interesting layout, usual for Romance cars.

post-819-0-34814900-1454815222_thumb.jpg

This looks good! But the front Train mark sign has to be pasted on...

post-819-0-35172600-1454815221_thumb.jpg

I then chanced upon these... They seem to be springs and wheel collectors... unless...

post-819-0-38796500-1454815223_thumb.jpg

Indeed. They need to be installed on the middle cars for interior lighting... Couldn't they have been installed in the factory? Oh well, at least they provided them to be installed.

And in another parcel, some more bus reinforcements came in:

post-819-0-84875600-1454815780_thumb.jpg

And a REALLY large current convertor for the Tomix controller.. Sick and tired of those travel adapters that always trips my controller and puts it in jeopardy of being damaged one day...

Very happy lad today with my latest delivery from MTP, a big thank you to Nariichi for putting aside the Kato 313 Series for me whilst I was waiting for the 373 Series on pre order to come in, he also got a replacement board for my EH200 and a set of PP-600 number plates for Hoki 800's when they become available.

I've received a few small items in the mail in the past week - one set each of Green Max telephone poles and Kobaru manhole covers, and a Tomix under-the-viaduct playground. Still waiting for my Eneos gas station from Plaza Japan.

After long thinking about it, today I ordered a SeaRails v.2 PowerMAX! with RP-25 6.5mm gauge wheelsets at http://www.narrow-garage.com/. It's a very expensive piece of equipment (¥11,500), so I'm going to take care of this one and develop loads of rolling stock shells for it, as well as a dummy unit as a temporary replacement.

I'm getting tired of trying to develop my own motorisation kit, as it has already taken up about the same cost of two or so PowerMAX! units as a whole... I think this will be my last investment in a motorisation unit for a while, unless the upcoming print of my renewed Big Henschel unit is a success! From now on, I'd like to focus a bit more on developing rolling stock, buildings and silicone -> resin casting.

I'm very interested in seeing how you like these since I still have an interest in messing around with Nj.

Today the E-Dentostone printed parts came in and the results were a bit disappointing. Partially because of my design, and partially because the material warps like crazy. I don't think this is suited for my purposes.

However, the PowerMAX also came in! I haven't got the chance to make it run properly, but it's tiny. Damn tiny. It looks solid and robust though, so this might just have been the best purchase for me in a long time. I'm very excited about it and will take good care of it. This will become the basis of many many projects!

Things came in and were taken out for a drink at Shin-Yokohama Kikanku in Kannai with Mr. Sato from Nanyo Bussan, a Taiwanese guest and our very own railsquid!

The PowerMAX is impressive in every aspect, but needs to be treated with ample respect as well.

And this is what I ordered:

shin yokohama kikanku

Unfortunately my stay was limited to just the one drink before being called home due to an unexpected baby emergency, but interesting place I'd like to visit again.

I must admit to an overwhelming temptation to pick the PowerMAX up with the chopsticks to go with the beer, but managed to resist ;).

I'm still waiting for my Eneos gas station, mine is coming from Plaza Japan and experience has taught me to expect a longer wait than with HS.
