The purchases at the JNMA this year were quite fruitful. Okay, the buses don't match the train, but what the hell:

IMG04232.jpg

  • MicroAce A-2890, Keisei Skyliner AE100 as it appeared during its debut in May 1990. I wasn't actively looking for this, but it sure was on my list, as it matches my collection of 1992~1993 Keisei trains. This is the first Ltd. Express in my collection as well. It was ¥6000, very cheap, but there are some doubts about the running quality and lights, but that's fixable I just test-ran it and it runs perfectly. A true bargain;
  • Bus Collection Kanagawa Chūō Kōtsu 90 years anniversary set with:
    - Mitsubishi Fusō Aerostar-S (Non-Step Bus), Atsugi depot no. 33;
    - Mitsubishi Fusō New Aero (Airport Highway bus), Hiratsuka depot no. 852;
  • Bus Collection Kanagawa Chūō Kōtsu Original set 2 with:
    - Mitsubishi Fusō Aerostar-K U-MP218M (now out of service), Yokohama depot no. 134;
    - Mitsubishi Fusō Aerostar PKG-MP35UM, Isehara depot no. 67
  • Bus Collection Odakyū Original bus set 2 with:
    - Mitsubishi Fusō MP317M, depot number A5130 for services around Kichijyōji;
    - Mitsubishi Fusō Aero Bus, Machida depot number F1018 for services to Shin-Yurigaoka.

The buses also don't really match each other and Odakyū Bus and Kanachū don't really operate in the same area (but are both in the Odakyū group anyway), but why the hell not. The Odakyū Aero Bus is also used for tour trips, so technically it can go anywhere.

Also, the only bus that comes near where I live is the Kanachū New Aero for services from Hashimoto/Machida/Sagamiono to Narita and Haneda airport...

However, I'm very happy to have these, as they could only be obtained at events and are becoming pretty rare.

And continuing:

Special developed water proof sandpaper for 3D prints! I got these as a gift from the CAD鉄 guys. Very friendly, as these aren't very cheap, but because they can be used with water, they can be practically used forever they told me. I'm eager to try it on the new project that will be arriving soon! The CAD鉄 guys were also quite interested in working together. Let's see what comes out of that. :)

Heck I hate you Toni...  :P

I want the buses so badly...  especially the Kanto region sets. They are truly hard to find...   :(

Did you say 6000 for the AE? A True bargan indeed!  :)

I was half-actively looking for Kanachū buses and will buy the other sets as well later. These first two sets are however very rare, so I decided to buy them, although they were a little bit more expensive than the original price. This is the bus company we regularly take, as it is the local provider. The drivers are friendly, drive carefully and respectful (which is surprisingly not very common in Japan), and in general the people who work there carry a very positive attitude.

  • Set 3:
    - Mitsubishi Fusō Bulldog K-MP118N, depot number Sagamihara 123 (not in service any more);
    - Mitsubishi Fusō Aerostar QKG-MP37FK, depot number Maioka 0134;
  • Set 4:
    - Isuzu KC-LV380L, depot number Fujisawa 93 (not in service any more);
    - Fuji Heavy Industries 5E, depot number Hiratsuka 16.

Set 5 is to be announced, but is in the making with a brand new design (Mitsubishi QKG-MP38FK and another one), as well as a harmonica bus (either Neoplan N4421 or Mercedes). I'd like to have a small/medium-sized bus like the Mitsubishi Fusō KK-MK23HJ or Isuzu SDG-LR290J1, since that one runs in our very tight neighbourhood and would fit on any layout.

Yes indeed, they are rare. They usually go up on Yahoo Auctions for around 3000-4000 yen per set! I miss all the Kanto area bus sets cause I couldn't get hold of them and they were expensive...

I would like to see more mini buses too, there seem to be lesser numbers of these. There are quite a few of them in HO scale though..

Speaking of which, my addiction leads to my bankruptcy recently with un-controllable ordering... Cant wait to see them arrive but not the credit card bill....

The ¥3000~¥4000 range is pretty usual for these sets, even at events like the JAM. Since these are collectibles without any moving function (unless built in afterwards) have no technical things that can go wrong and are thus hard to decline in resale value and more probably raise in value. I've seen these sets also climbing slowly to the ¥5000 range, so it'd be wise to get them a.s.a.p. (as I did with these first two Kanachū bus sets).

A pair of Nankai series 50000 (rapi:t) trains arrived recently. A blue one (which I already had, but that one doesn't run too well) and the peach one. The peach one looks really nice, and the white front fits really well with the overall design.

I now have another four B Train Shorty wagons on order:

Pair of Taki 1000s in Japan Oil green/grey

Pair of container flats (grey with red-brown containers)

Oh, and a pack of bogies to be able to run them! I can't seem to find many container wagons for sane money so hopefully Bandai will make more in future, would be good to see some with different designs of container (such as tankers or open) for a bit of variety.

Received from Nariichi at ModelTrainPlus today. He included a Tomytec brochure and Microace flyer. I have several greenmax power units surplus(freebies) which I will use on the Tomytec units. Just need to glue the under chassis detail parts on from the Tomytec chassis. That chicken Tram is real nice for a cheap unit. My first painted character? train.

A small parcel from HS yesterday, only 4 items:

1) Urethane set for 10 cars - I find these urethane sets to be really effective in organising the rolling stocks respectively and saving space.

2) Tomix 7222 head & tail light board for my E1

3) The Amagi paper structure of the 'Ghost' station. One good point to note is the paper is already designed with some rustic effect to make the structure itself look like it's rustic and old. Cool!

4) A very interesting Railway book from JR Summer 2015. It contains all the train formations including train numbers from JR Hokkaido to JR Kyushu! Now I have a new book to study!  :)

Interesting that they made a 1/144 control tower under the tomytec brand.

Keio6000 , I heard about this being released a while back and the scale was exactly what I am after. Nariichi from MTP , very kindly tracked one down for me. I am going to build a part of my hometown airport which was also an airforce base. Hoping to construct it for a module on my NZ120 (New Zealand TT scale layout ) If I keep most of it towards the front of module and railway track at the back, it might work. I have 2 more kitset planes to construct which will be same models as shown , but earlier paint schemes ( so I can backdate the era slightly by just swapping planes and a few details.

Received my Kato C12 today courtesy of Plaza Japan. (2022-1) First glance it's a beautifully crafted model with no motor parts taking up the footplate space like older models (C11 etc..). The lead and tail wheel are a bit brassy in colour compared to the black driving wheels. Not sure if this is prototypical as most photos of C12s are in black and white. I'll see if they grow on me or I might have to buff them with some black.

I have also received my Kato JR East 12系 excursion train (10-557)and I finally have D51 498. (2016-1) Nice to see the re-released version has the newer foam insert like the D51 slug. I always had frustration loading my other SLs onto those fiddly plastic mounts in the Kato boxes.

I should also like to give a big thank you to Parcel Force for adding their criminally high charges for "admin" and "handling" when things arrive here in the UK. I would prefer to go to the customs office myself and pay the duty rather than let you near my goods and charge me for the privilege. Cheers guys!

Grumble over! I have trains to run!

I picked up this the other day for about 1400 yen:

I don't know much about Japanese steam locos (though I'm very good at guessing their colour ;) ) but it's a Kato C11, the same type as the one opposite Shinbashi Station, and it will serve a similar purpose on my layout (when I get round to building it).

As far as I can tell it's the 2nd release of that model from Kato, which dates it from between 1976 and 1978. It's in incredible condition for its age and does actually run pretty well.

Cliché but iconic. I still need to get one of these someday. And of course a DE10 as well. :)

At the equivalent of under £40 for loco and shipping I'll quite happily settle for cliché!! A DE10 is next on the list as it happens.....And on a philosophical note, aren't iconic and cliché just two sides of the same coin? ;)

My Kato 455 Green Liner arrived from Loco 1 Hobby. I rode it once from Kuroiso to Koriyama and back. Helps to fill out my northern Kanto collection (115, 211, kiha 40 Karasuyama, Nikko 107, 583 Hakutsuru).

Waiting on some pre-orders to come in also.

And wrestling with the additional expense of getting the 165 Moonlight Echigo, which was also the Fairway Express from Shinjuku to Kuroiso.

Just a small parcel in today from our good friend at Loco1:

Kato E257-500 Boso View Express 5 car basic set. This E257 looks great in this new colour!

The Kiha-32 Tetsudo Hobby train! An out of region out of theme train for me, but it's sheer cuteness I couldn't resist...

Tomytec buses JB025 and JB026 to continue on collection of the 'All Island Bus collections'

Actually tomytec has a wide range of 1/144 aircraft that makes sense to have a control tower to go along with them

http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/search?typ1_c=102&cat=plamo&state=&sold=0&sortid=0&searchkey=Tomytec+144

ah.  i'm a 1/72 and 1/48 guy myself, and 99%+ military aircraft, so don't pay much attention to the small stuff :).  i actually own a 1/72 aircraft carrier.  yes, really.

Wow that will take up a parking slot in the garage! Picts?! I did a lot of 1/72 military as a kid as it was so affordable and just big enough to easily detail but not have to uber detai! Then n scale trains took over!

Jeff

Ps after hitting post I remeber making a 1/72 aircraft carrier deck out of card board to fly our planes off of as a kid. I think I wanted a plywood one but dad probably kept me to cardboard so he would not have to find someplace to store it!p

I just got the E257 too and I love the color scheme and also a Kato W7.  Been looking at the buses but been resisting the temptation.
