Guest keio6000
Happy happy joy joy the Keio 9000 is now out and selling. I'll be lying if I said the 8000 and 9000 were my favorte keio trains ever, but clearly they are the present and a must for a keio collection completist. now the million dollar question whether my pre-order is still on file as i was promised it was, as i havent heard anything from the seller, though as i pre-orderd bo the 8000 and 9000 simultaneously, he may be honoring my request to ship both when ma finally also makes the 8. katoftw
They are a nice train. I'm tempted. Probably be more so after October. Do they run on the Oedo and Asakusa lines? Edited September 21, 2014 by katoftw Link to comment
railsquid
Keio trains? The only non-Keio line they run on is the Toei Shinjuku line, IIRC the 9000 only. Link to comment
ToniBabelony
Keio runs a 1372mm gauge network. Only the Toei Shinjuku line has the same gauge (ignoring the Arakawa and Setagaya lines) and runs through on the Keio network. The only trains that are foreign to the domestic Keio trains are the 10-000 and 10-300 Series from Toei, as are the Keio 9000 Series to the Toei Shinjuku line. Link to comment
katoftw
Somehow in my mind I've confused Keio and Toei. Must have had a blonde moment. Link to comment

ToniBabelony
I'm really, REALLY tempted by the Keihan 800. I've seen it run and I've anticipated it for a long time. However, it really doesn't fit my early-nineties Keisei collection and will certainly not fit in my to-be Sōtetsu/SDR collection. Likewise with the Nankai 2000, Sanyō 3050 and Yokohama Mun. Subway trains... It's too bad for MA, but good for my wallet, sanity and finally the stability of the family. xD Now, as for that 8-car Sōtetsu 7000 Series coming up... :3 Link to comment
Densha
At the moment I'm focussing on the Keihan Ishiyama-Sakamoto Line and Keishin Line, so I decided to get the Keihan 800 in the end. I could just barely find the funds for it. :P I really doubt I have the money to get the power units for the Tomytec Keihan 600's though. I hope they will be around for a while. Initially I was going for both JR Shikoku and those two Keihan lines, but with my meager funds I decided to let go JR Shikoku for now. (please don't go releasing the Marine Liner in the next few years, please don't) Link to comment

JR 500系
Want. Get them quick! Still available at loco1 and MTP... Sweet and beautiful looking! But resisted. Never wanna go into street cars... By the way, what a good looking layout! Link to comment
Densha
But it's officially a train JR500! But the Keishin Line practice nowadays is more of a subway running partly on the street. This page on wikipedia has quite an informative story about it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interurban#Japan Link to comment
katoftw
Yup the street section is pretty small compared to the rest of the line. Probably a couple of hundred meters at best before hitting Hamaotsu Station. Link to comment

But still, I have to draw the line somewhere.... I've try best NOT to get started on the following: 1) Freight 2) Street Cars / Trains that run onto roads (exception of Tomytec for painted road trains like the K'On and Tetsudo Mesume) 3) Hokkaido trains 4) Kyushu trains Link to comment
katoftw
No freight? Shameful. Kyushu? I understand, due to the large quantity of joyful trains, collecting trains from this Island could become an expensive addiction. Oh that is right. I'm collecting Kyushu trains. Link to comment

Densha
The thing with freight trains is that the models are practically always available or will get a re-release after a while. So even if you want them you can do it later. And now that I'm focussing on Keihan freight is out of the question anyway. Link to comment
