Just paid for my MicroAce 9600 series Gotoji Engine Depot and fitting Sera1 / Sefu1 car set. August is turning out to be an expensive month, as will September be most likely.. And December too :)

Managed to not pre-order the new Skyliner though (not yet at least ;))

Almost pre-ordered the World Kougei C53 kit, but 330 USD for a kit was a bit of a turn off, especially since I need a ton of practice building the things first... I WILL get a World Kougei steamer sooner or later though =)

I have 4 or 5 World Kougei kits which still need building. I started with a simple car, but the soldering didn't work out because my soldering iron isn't meant for soldering "large" brass sheets :)

After I've settled in the new house, I'm getting myself a Weller Pyropen (or the much cheaper Dremel equivalent), which has a micro-torch function. That and some soldering paste should make it much easier. Another option is epoxy, but it get pretty messy.

The problem with the soldering, is that the heat spreads over the entire surface, so if you're trying to close the seams on the shell for example, the whole shell heats up, and it doesn't get hot enough for the soldering tin to stick. Resistance soldering probably works much better, but it's expensive. I'm thinking open flame and soldering paste instead of tin should get the job done as well.

Another problem are the instructions, which are hard to translate :)

My second Skynet apartment block has arrived from Mr PlazaJapan... :grin

Now all I have to wait for is the Tomix ED62 from HS, which seems to be taking an age to arrive in stock...

you are correct there sir.

I'm waiting for this and ED61. It better not be delayed again :( i'm hoping tomix's lack of shipping date this far into the month is becasue of the holidays.

I think it definately should come in as they moved it to their front page as with my 24 series passenger car set i'm waiting on.

Here's hoping... That will effectively be the last of my orders from HS outstanding. Nothing immediately on the horizon, so will give me a chance to start saving again, or buying more buildings for my terminus layout... :grin

Just waiting for the payment request from HS for my Tomytec/Tomix Bus system and then I shall have to take a break on train purchases as real life Subaru's have need for the cash . :grin

I guess my previous post about this was really in the wrong thread--I just reserved the Shonan-livery 143 from the Kato November releases.

Just got the "we received your payment" note from HS for my order for twenty Kawai HoKi 10000 coal cars (two sets of ten, going to have me a prototypical coal train for Tokyo; I already have an EF65).

Apparently I got the last ones as they went out-of-stock once I ordered, and I was a bit nervous until the payment request showed up.  They do still have the smaller sets in stock, but I wanted twenty with different road numbers to match the twenty-car trains I've seen in some videos.

My Kawai HoKi 10000 coal cars arrived.  Very nice, and one of the cars in the 10-pack set has the red end-of-train disks attached (I think permanently). The detail is very high quality, and the lettering crisp.  One wheel had fallen out of the bolster frame, but went back fairly easily.  The set comes with a pack of "coal", which should help weight the cars if I use it, as they seem too light as-is.

I reserved a Micro Ace AE series Skyliner at Hobby Search. I only traveled on this type of train (and an E231-500) in Tokyo, so I have to buy its model. :-)

And not N scale, but an exchange order for a 21 day Japan Railpass. :grin :grin

Less glamorous than some of the above, but still much anticipated, is the notification from HS that the Tomix ED62 is finally in stock! Should be with me in time for the exhibition in a couple of weeks time.  :grin
