cteno4
Tacky wax is like blue tack or museum gel in that it’s a temp way to stick something in place. But museum gel and blue tack is more like a rubber and best for rather flat locations, but tacky wax is, like it’s name, a wax so you can get it squeezed into finer shapes and into odd places. Gets pliable rolling in your fingers. Pretty good at not staining what’s it’s on. I used I think the progenitor to this many years ago on exhibit models to tack things in place while we were doing photo shoots where little bumps kept knocking everything over. But it doesn’t like to get warm so I’ve never used it on layout stuff as we are in the sun now and then and also fear we get too many little jarring shocks in transport. Have used museum gel on bottoms of things when windy for a temp stick of just sit down things. I had looked at this for holding container blocks together as museum gel just doesn’t like squishing into the corners well to hold container stacks up, but I never got some to try and see if it would stain the paint eventually. But it seemed like it might stick into the corners the best to hold better. I’ll be curious to hear from squid on it! jeff 1 Link to comment

All that exercise deserves a mighty fine reward! I bet @JR 500系 would have done that. 8 hours ago, Kamome said: Not at Kato prices, I’m sure. Gotta love those Assypart racks for finding stuff you’ve always wanted but never knew. Indeed, one does not simply pay RRP for trains in the Kato shop without good reason. Excellent for parts, which don't get as heavily discounted anyway. 2 Link to comment

The Tacky Wax keeps getting recommended on a British N gauge forum for various purposes so I though I'd get some just in case. The blue stuff is a "gummy" glue which comes recommended in various Japanese contexts for attaching stuff (name plates, corridor connectors etc.) to trains in a non-destructive manner, so to speak. 1 1 Link to comment
cteno4
Gummy glue sounds like our tacky glue, sort of half rubber cement, half PVA in texture. Never seems to eat at paint or plastics and stays a bit tacky. Works well for figures but can sag with time and also attract dust if exposed. Let us know how the tacky wax does. I’m curious to use it to stack containers. jeff Link to comment
JR 500系
So i really couldnt resist Sales from Ami, i mean, these sets are going for cheap! I cant forgive myself if i didnt get them.... 😛 First up, I needed to correct my wrong so i looked for the E233-3000, and got lucky when Ami had one basic set on a discounted price! This was the reason why the Basic set got discounted ~ I'm not complaining, and what better timing! Might as well get the 4-car add-on... annd while we are at it... Finally the E233s are complete! Nothing like so good old urethane to organise your sets! 6 Link to comment
JR 500系
And i also looked for expaning my Hokkaido fleet, and what better timing again!! The 731 series was on a good discount, and so was the 227 series!! Yeah those who know me i ditched the JR West fleets previously and yes this was on so attractive a discount i couldnt let it pass so.... Yes this was one of the sets i was looking out for and yet again, great timing for a discount! 🙂 7 Link to comment

KateM
Today my latest Hobby Search order came through. I'm still amazed how quickly DHL is able to deliver - sent on Thursday, delivered on Monday, even with customs processing. Most stuff is for my revised layout plan. Also got some sensors to play with, internal lightning for my KiHa110s and few new buildings to freshen the layout up. Too bad I still have one last exam to go before I can start building the new layout plan... 5 4 Link to comment

Yavianice
Didn't know Hobbysearch used cats as package filler. Perhaps I should order something from HS again soon 😆 2 Link to comment

beakaboy
my small haul over the weekend after a visit to a friend who is dealing with a deceased estate. The 485 series runs beautifully for an early set and I have a replacement for the paint damaged end car. Never expected to see the brand new Kyushu set 8 Link to comment
roadstar_na6
Seeing those prices I don‘t want to know how much you paid for the 7 Stars of Kyushu 😄 1 Link to comment
gavino200
Just received the Shinto Shrine B. I'm planning to downsize the footprint and only use one of the buildings. I'm thinking of putting it in my urban area surrounded by taller buildings, like one I saw in Ebisu when I stayed there. 11 Link to comment
