cteno4
clem, i think those multiple bids by one person may be them upping their max bid along the way as they get anxious they may not have bid enough maybe? not sure that see snipers as driving the price up more than putting a regular max bid in earlier. i only see it as the way to beat out folks that wont put in a max bid and want to do interactive bidding at the end. regular max bidders pay too much as well if they have a higher price than the snipers. i could only see it driving the price up if the other regular max bidders were to add some extra thinking snipers might be willing to pay more Link to comment
Martijn Meerts
I've pretty much stopped the auctions on eBay, I only buy there if there's a decent "buy it now" price. At the moment, there's just too many people using sniping programs, which means you don't stand a chance if you don't use such a program yourself. Last time I tried to get something by bidding were a bunch of Japanese magazines. I wanted them specifically for the prototypical and model images of servicing terminals and old steam train sheds etc. My bid on all 5 or 6 of them were highest until a couple of seconds before the end of the auction. I would've offered more (they were only a few dollars each), but there just no chance of outbidding a program ... Martijn, Yes you did have a chance to outbid the program, why didnt you put a max bid in for the max you thought you were willing to pay for them? it would have only effected the outcome of the auction if you had a higher price than everyone else and you would have won the time, if someone was willing to pay more than you still would have lost it. cheers jeff Quite simple actually, I had no idea what a good price would be for the magazines ;) Link to comment
cteno4
Quite simple actually, I had no idea what a good price would be for the magazines ;) LOL, i think you hit it on the head there, many times on ebay its tough to figure the worth/value of stuff like this. usually no great comparable and not much elsewhere to do some research, so i guess it just boils down to what its worth to you to get what you need. I see some folks that may really over pay for some things have a very high worth as they just want it now and/or dont want or know how to find the item elsewhere. i guess its all relative... cheers jeff Link to comment
Martijn Meerts
Nothing to do with trains, but I picked up an iPad today. Haven't played much with it yet, but at first glance it could definitely make an excellent, semi-portable (it's a bit heavy to carry around continuously) advanced throttle =) Link to comment
David
My JR East Kiha fleet is done for now. 2x Kiha111+Kiha 112 (1 powered, 1 unpowered), 2x Kiha 110 (1 powered, 1 unpowered), 1x View Coaster Kazekko. Everything neat and tidy (except for the view coaster motor car slot, which needed a little of the foam cut away to make space for the extra diaphragm for connecting cars). Link to comment
Jes
Nice collection you have got there David! I like the colours on the 'Kazekko' Link to comment
stevenh
A timetable! I'm back in Japan for a wedding in Sept, so I wanted to be at-the-right-place-at-the-right-time for the most freight movements.. and also to check out what moves around the Sangi Railway... So this arrived today: The RFA Website is here, but note that I had to get it from the Shosen Book Store in Akihabara via mailorder (although my Japanese friend ordered it for me.) If anyone wants any specific information, then we can start a new thread. Link to comment

David
It was introduced in 2000. The interior is done up with bare wood tables and benches with old style lighting and heating - it's like a rustic cabin, only on wheels. The big winterized windows can be slid away to make it an open air car, or be closed to keep out the cold. http://www.hwjapan.com/sh/ACE11341.aspx Link to comment

The 115s and EF64s have come in...along with the 58. Add to that a black MA 2100 Izu Resort (impulse buy) and it ain't cheap this month. Still, the 00 King Arthur is now off the list...had to return it due to a problem with the valve gear and get a refund... Link to comment

I also picked up an ESU ECoS 2 digital command station today but haven't played much with it yet. Link to comment
David
I've got the E127-100 on order. I'm also going to be the test subject for the TomyTec controller, I ordered the throttle and brake (while the sound unit is interesting and ties the whole thing together with its dials, it also weighs twice as much and puts it closer to the price of the Tomix cab controller) Link to comment

Sankei is really busy cranking these out! figure there is one guy there who has figured out his library of parts and can now whip out new designs fast in CAD. have you built any of the Sankei in HO yet? Was wondering how they look at that scale. ive been pretty happy with the n scale ones. jeff Link to comment
KenS
HS notified me that my M250 Super Rail Cargo and the two expansion sets was in and ready to ship, and sent me the paypal note early this AM. I've paid, now the waiting starts. Link to comment

David
Tomytec tram throttle to experiment with What experiments did you have in mind? I've got 2, and I've been giving some thought to seeing if it's possible to up the voltage to 9V, making it useful for controlling full size trains (I just don't know if any components would blow out). I've got a 9V battery harness, and if it works I don't see any obstacle to filing down the inside of the battery compartment to fit one 9V instead of 4 AAs. Link to comment

David, Mainly to see how well they work with trams for ttrak or other little fun things. it was on sale and pretty cheap (for some reason the blue one was cheaper!) so just more of a toy. i would not try to up the voltage as a chap on the tomix list tried that and fried his (i think he tried 12v). he then put in a bakatronics board to replace it (he liked the throttle and reversing handles). yell if you want me to email you his post there. cheers jeff Link to comment
scott
Not a delivery, but--now that it's August, I finally got the pre-order payment request for the June-release Kato Oito-line E127. And, to be fair, the shipping notice came very quickly after the payment. I wonder if they Niigata 115 and E127 will be this delayed. Link to comment
