JR 500系
Can you post a picture of the plug? Sure, i'll take a photo of it when I get home thanks! And a smaller parcel containing even more buses ~ * Series 15 buses, and a special bus from this box set: http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10178562 first 4 tour buses are from Series 8 buses, 2 on the right are from Series 5, and including some Fairlady Z cars from series 3 of car collection series... How I hope Tomytec can make this car series again... * P.s. I am always wondering how to make the link look like just a word that is underlined and can be clickable? I have seen many people do it here but I don't know how to.... :( Edited April 13, 2017 by JR 500系 1 Link to comment
Kiha66
* P.s. I am always wondering how to make the link look like just a word that is underlined and can be clickable? I have seen many people do it here but I don't know how to.... :( To get just the blue link from a text, just click on more reply options to switch to the reply mode, then highlight the text in your reply that you want to add the link to. Once the text is highlited, click on the icon that looks like a tiny chain with a green plus underneath, which can be found to the right of the bold and underline options, and below the size options. This should bring up a box that you can paste the address you want the highlighted text to link to, then just click ok! Link to comment

Here's a picture of the plug: What's confusing is that the top is written 100-240v but the bottom is written only 100v... that makes me afraid to connect it up... If someone could describe the instructions in the booklet for activating the sounds, that would be much appreciated too! :) 1 Link to comment
Yavianice
Thanks! But it seems pretty complicated... Here's a picture of the plug: 20170413_145835.jpg JET is the Japanese Electrical Safety & Environment Technology Laboratories certification. That it is in a box on the label probably means it has been tested (and complient with 110V). The CE logo means Conformité Européene, meaning it is certified for use in Europe, at 240V. So I am pretty sure that you can use it for 230-240V input. 4 Link to comment

keiichi77
A small pre-order from Model Train Plus with some trams and Tomix Taki. I added the HO container before Nariichi-san shipped the package. I am going to slowly fill my HO Koki fleet by adding a container to every order I place from Japan. I just wish Tomix left the containers unnumbered and included a decal sheet with more numbers, or offered an A and B set so at least you could have 4 or 6 container with different numbers instead of 2 or 3. In N scale it doesn't bother me much, but in HO it is very noticeable. 3 Link to comment

Suica
Some Yahoo deals arrived. Tomytec Alpico 3000 series Tomix SaHa E501 Now I can finally make a 5-car Joban line train. (and have one car left) Tomix DD51 & 50 series coach set Does anyone know more about this particular train? I tried to find informations but I can't figure anything out. Not even its name. Google translate results don't seem trustworthy here. 5 Link to comment

Not a specific named train, I think, but a "nostalgic recreation of a Ban'etsu West Line loco-hauled passenger train". ToniBabelony
I couldn't stand the sheer rubbish running quality of the old twin-motor GM units in my Tōbu 6050s, so I ordered two no. 5711 coreless power units to swap them out. I'll have to find a way to modify the bogies, as GM has no spare parts for FS357 bogies, meaning I'll probably have to buy separate FS357 bogies and cut these parts away (I'll have a few spare wheelsets then anyway)... Yap that's the same issue I encountered with greenmax coreless motors... they're really good, but they just don't come with spare bogie parts... could you use those left-overs from tomytec motorized chassis? I have the coreless motor for my 783 series too but it's bogie-less and looks really strange now... Link to comment

I have the coreless motor for my 783 series too but it's bogie-less and looks really strange now... The problem with the bogies between GM and Tomytec is that they look different from each other. Here is an example I have from the FS529. The one mounted is GM, whereas the ones on the sprue are Tomytec: The upper bogies are FS357 types, which also have differences in appearance from both GM and Tomytec (4th picture in the link): http://kusatan2001.jugem.jp/?eid=1561 The differences for me are too obvious to use them on a motor unit that runs together with the original GM bogies. Luckily GM makes FS356 bogies separately (similar looking to FS357) I can source the parts from I need. It's not such an urgent case, but when I have the time, I'll probably pay a GM store a visit directly and see if they have some special parts around I couldn't get via the regular channels. 2 Link to comment
JR 500系
Indeed.. that is a huge difference.... it helps in appearance, but being here in Sillypore I am thinking not much people will pay attention to the bogies that exactly as there really isn't much Japanese rail fans around to spot that here ~ :P Thing is how to go around attaching the tomytec bogie to the coreless motor... it doesn't have the 3 holes to pin it in like the tomytec, though that can be easily solved by sawing off the 3 pegs and gluing it directly to the bogie.. ToniBabelony
I don't really care about other people noticing the difference. I do care about me noticing the difference :P Thing is how to go around attaching the tomytec bogie to the coreless motor... it doesn't have the 3 holes to pin it in like the tomytec, though that can be easily solved by sawing off the 3 pegs and gluing it directly to the bogie.. Actually, the Tomytec bogies should fit in the GM coreless motor without trouble, as the coreless motor's bogies also have a three-pin hole. It'd be stupid of GM not to provide those holes with their new power unit. ;) Link to comment

ClosedCase.jpg OpenCases2.jpg Love that new case smell. I thought about but waited too long and it sold out. It's nice getting the whole train at once instead of in 3 sets. BTW for translating instructions, have you tried the google translate phone app. You can take a picture of some text and then highlight what you want translated. It works quite well.
