enodenlover
I just ordered Tomytec's new Tomii Electric Rwy. 17m class large electric car. According to the HS website the Tomii is a fictional line which has me wondering whether there's an actual prototype for this car or if it's the creation of Tomytec's designers. Anyone know for sure? Bob Its something like cars the Hanshin Railway ran and later were sold to local private railways or sometimes purchased new by local private railways in Hiroshima and Takamatsu (Kotoden), until recently one of the better known tool museums. https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E5%82%99%E5%8D%97%E9%9B%BB%E6%B0%97%E9%89%84%E9%81%93%E3%83%A2%E3%83%8F100%E5%BD%A2%E9%9B%BB%E8%BB%8A https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E9%AB%98%E6%9D%BE%E7%90%B4%E5%B9%B3%E9%9B%BB%E6%B0%97%E9%89%84%E9%81%931020%E5%BD%A2%E9%9B%BB%E8%BB%8A https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E9%AB%98%E6%9D%BE%E7%90%B4%E5%B9%B3%E9%9B%BB%E6%B0%97%E9%89%84%E9%81%9310000%E5%BD%A2%E9%9B%BB%E8%BB%8A http://www.geocities.jp/nishika1961/bekkan/kotoden/kotoden.htm Edited January 28, 2017 by bill937ca 1 Link to comment
enodenlover
Thanks, bill937, for the information and especially for the photos. The cars in the pictures are quite similar to the Tomytec model even though none of them have the same type of windows. The upper sections resemble the "standee" windows that were so familiar on GMC city buses and Marmon-Herrington trolleybuses in the '50s and '60s. In fact that's why I bought this model; the cream and orange color scheme and the standee-type windows remind me a lot of the M-H trolleybuses that ran in Cincinnati until about 1963. I have fond memories of those buses and was really sorry to see them disappear. Bob 1 Link to comment

From 1958 until 1990 the Hiroden Miyajimsen line ran both tram and high floor trains. Some of the cars like 1053 and 1054 had past links to the Keihan line. This was another line with the Tangerine and Cream colors. http://rre.ninja-web.net/prvrc/hiroden2/hirode21.htm http://train.sakura.ne.jp/train/hiroden/carpast/1090/10931094.html http://train.sakura.ne.jp/train/hiroden/carpast/1050/1054.html http://satoyama.in/auto/sharyo/auto653.html http://satoyama.in/auto/sharyo/auto652.html http://www.geocities.jp/koubou625/625/miyajima/miyajima.html http://train.sakura.ne.jp/train/hiroden/carpast/1060/1061.html Edited January 28, 2017 by bill937ca 1 Link to comment

linkey
The Party Train is on it's way, the party train is on it's way lol :P I am referring to the Series E257 `Azusa/Kaiji` (Basic 7-Car and Add-On Sets) this is something totally unusual for me to get as it's not a Shinkansen. ha-ha but it is something that would enjoy to have with the other fleet of trains. 1 Link to comment

Wonderbolt
Vulcan foundry is (well was) here were I live so I am quite fond of the little loco. Meanwhile I managed to pick up these kits at £10 for the lot xD Edited January 28, 2017 by Wonderbolt 2 Link to comment

It does seem to go for quite high prices, this one however popped up on Yahoo Auctions with a reasonable starting price and 24 hour auction deadline, got lucky I guess :D 1 Link to comment
enodenlover
After a week long suspension of service, the interurbans ( all acquired second hand ) of the "Tsuburaya Electric Railway" are running again thanks to our good friend cteno4. Jeff was nice enough to make up a connector that allows me to use a Kato power pack with Tomix track and it just arrived today. Many thanks, sir; the money that I would've spent on a Tomix power pack will buy a lot of scenery stuff and detail items and help get this project finished sooner than it would otherwise. I have no intention of trying to install overhead wire but I'm curious: would catenary or single span wire be more appropriate for a short rural interurban in the postwar era? railsquid
Yeah, I can see how that might be the case... Still that makes the track gauge slightly more accurate ;) Link to comment
NXCALE
Ordered 2 magazines: the N gauge +2 and the JAM 2016 Last year I got the N gauge +1 and the JAM 2015 so it was a obvious choice. Cheers, 1 Link to comment

beakaboy
Well I decided to keep my Kato N700A starter set from AmiAmi as it was so nice to run and of course finally brought a 4 car add on set as it didn't look right to have a 4 car Shinkansen running on layout. Come to think of it a 16 car set would look even better. I am sure they put numbers on the roof to keep reminding you of the cars missing! Also got some extra bits for the trackwork and some more Bandai Oigawa coaches to bring my train up to 6 coaches. 6 Link to comment

Das Steinkopf
I received my first order today from AmiAmi using the DHL delivery option, I thought EMS was fast but DHL has smashed all records for speedy delivery. Inside was a Keihan Keishin 80 series without air conditioner and two powered chassis, one for this model as well as one for a Keihan Keishin 80 Series fitted with air conditioner that I already have, also included was some other parts for some of my Tomytec units. Same is here with my N700 set, I have the 4 car basic set plus the 4 car add-on, but the full would look much better if I'd have more space to run it... Link to comment
