Atomsk
Yesterday I went for some hanami (get drunk in public and something with flowers ). Hey, I learned about "flower watching" from Azumanga Daioh. (my brother went to the same high school in Japan as Kiyohiko Azuma) I think I've found the supply of Tomix pickup springs that I know I'll need soon. Link to comment

katoftw
Ordered (well supplier has back ordered) Number plate for 6 car Hoki 800. Also brought 4 packs of tomytec old broken wooden fences and stone paths. Attempting to win some auctions on yahoo for Keihan Otsu 600s in express colours and cars from volume 17 railway collection. The Hoki 800 number plates are already on their way. Only took them 24 hours. Link to comment
JR 500系
Received a package with this stuff last week... didn't have time to open it until today though. Keihan 600 green and K-on + accessories.jpg The TM23 should have been a TM-20 of course, but loco1hobby accidentally swapped them while packaging. The TM-20 will soon be on its way to me though and I was told to keep the TM-23 for free! It seems almost everyone got the Keihan K-On train eh? :) That's the nice service from loco1 which I love! :) Link to comment

JR 500系
Yeah, but this lot included a bag of these little monkey-doodles: 13768f.jpg ...which I will need for my E1 set. Same with me Atomsk. I just checked my E1. Exact same thing, no connections in the middle cars.... Mine is far worse, engine is not moving and no directional lights on both end cars... Anyhow, away from the sorrow comes new joy! Itchy fingers click even more trains into Takahashi... Darn the mayor needs to be sacked for importing too many trains! 1) MicroAce A1985 - Seibu 10000 New Red Arrow, in Chichibu colouring! I love the mini pictures on the sides of the cars! Didn't see much of the Red Arrow initially but this one was somewhat, different. The paintings appeal to me more and more... 2) 311 series 4-car set 3) Keio 9000 8-car set 4) Odakyu 8000 Event car 4-car set 5) Chizu Express Series HOT 7000 `Super Hakuto` First Edition Time of Debut (6-Car Set) Now my private trains roster is growing.... Not good. Need to stop... Question about the HOT 7000, it is listed as Chizu Express, but when I hyperdia it it actually comes up as a JR Super Hakuto train. Dave1960
I won an auction on the UK eBay site yesterday and bagged myself a Kato 285-0 Sunrise Express, This train has been on my 'must have' list for some time. From the photographs it appears to be in very good condition and I got it for a reasonable price, I'm expecting it to be delivered tomorrow so I'll find out then if it was a real bargain. I'm still waiting on 3 packages from HS containing various buildings and bits of track and my first package from Plaza Japan with yet more buildings. To get all this all I had to do was take my wife out to dinner on our anniversary last week. Easy! Dave Link to comment
Ken Ford
I saw the first Tomix Hakone Tozan Type 3000 "Allegra" pop up on eBay overnight, so I suspect I'll see my invoice from Nariichi-san very soon. Link to comment

Mine is far worse, engine is not moving and no directional lights on both end cars... Oooh, that's bad luck. Did you check to see that all of the truck to body "collector" springs are in place? These cars use rough steel contact strips/ballast weights to get current from the trucks to the motor and light boards. If those steel strips corrode, I'd imagine it would break the circuits. I've got some "dielectric grease" for waterproofing automotive electrical connections. If i ever run into a situations like this, I intend to try that grease to prevent future oxidation. brill27mcb
I would think you want conductive grease, not dielectric grease, if the truck's contact points move along the strips. You want to stop or reduce the surface corrosion, but permit electrical contact at the same time. Rich K. Link to comment

katoftw
Roundhouse is Kato's special model division, ie more unique/special. Kinda like what Cadillac is to GM. You do find over time stuff from Roundhouse does filter down into Kato's regular range. Link to comment

enodenlover
In the past few days I've ordered three of the unpowered Tomytec items: a Sangi Ry. ED 459 electric locomotive, a Keihan type 600 2-car interurban and an Oigawa Ry. series 3000 2-car EMU. On my budget they're all going to have to sit on sidings for a while until I can afford to order the power units. Link to comment
