More Keihan Otsu goodness.  And the start of Kumamoto goodness.

I already have both of them lol :D but they are great trains, all I need now is to get the powered underframes and over panto to have them zooming around the layout.

*I refer to the AJMRG Layout not my personal layout which is still on the drawing board. :P

Ooh... nice.... flex track.

To be honest, after fighting with the flex track on my HO layout (and trying to keep the curves smooth without kinks), I found the fixed track from Kato and/or Tomix so much easier to deal with on my N scale layout.

Over the weekend I visited a couple of area hobby shops that carry Unitrack and came away with several pieces of track along with a Denny's restaurant and a pack of Kato's lattice-style catenary bridges.

One way to overcome that problem is to use templates like these:

Available in different radii, they're very useful in my experience.

Cheers,

First Off I wanted to say Hi, All the info I am getting here is great, I am waiting for various pieces of Kato track for my layout and my first Yokosuka train. I was stationed there during the 80's, so when I found out they had trains from Yokosuka, Narita, I had to get them all. As soon as I get my layout done I will take some pics.

I fear Buyee will be the death of my bank account.  I've just won auctions for:

  • 4 Tomix 583 type cars, to complete my KuHaNe 581 train
  • a complete Kato "Aodaisho" (1957 era Tsubame) wiith 12 passenger cars and an EF58
  • a Kato 151 type "Kodama" set
  • several packages of Kato interior light kits
  • Kato and Tomix storage cases for several "loose" cars

Still, I haven't found the Tomix E1 add-on cars I need to complete that set.

And when it rains, it pours.

Also ordered a EF65-500 for my Takasaki train excursion fleet.

And TT-04R trailer parts (at old cheaper price) for possible incoming Tomytec trains.

Yes Yahoo Auctions can be VERY tempting... It's especially exciting to see the auction end and you being the winning bidder! You bought Kato interior lights from Yahoo Auctions? I'm guessing it must be quite a good deal...

Good luck to both of us to try to complete the Tomix E1. It's really kinda hard to find. I did see 2 individual carriages come up for sale, but they were like going for 2800 yen per piece and I just couldn't bear to pay that then, until now I know it really is rare...

Today is an exciting day!

It's the day of double-deckers!

I collected a parcel which missed me from EMS today. Kudos to David san from Loco1 for the prompt delivery! It only took 2 days!

Here's what we got:

1) Tomytec Cable car ropeway system. Man this box is HUGE! Look at the size of the box!

2) Tomytec K-On Keihan train, together with all the required motorised parts

3) Tomytec All Island Bus collection JB 21 & JB22. I like the Airport Limousine bus!

AND now for train sets!

4) Tomix 92883 E233-8000 Nambu Line 6-car set. Another beautifully painted E233 join the commuter train roster!

Now the Double Decker fun begins!

5) Kato 10-177 E251 old painting. Looks great! Now is it me, or do I recall the E251 to come with factory installed interior lightings? Seems like mine is missing....

6) Tomix 92059 & ??? E1 MAX in Old Painting. FINALLY I got my E1 Max, and in OLD painting! I love this painting so I it can be easily distinguish from the E2, by which the new painting of white-red stripe-blue resembles the painting of the E2. I know I got the Basic set 92059, but I don't know what the other 2 cars are... Anyhow, I needed an E1 Max to complete the E-series and I got one~ Nice!

7) Tomix 92624 100 series 7-car set. I told myself I wouldn't collect retired Tokaido shinkansen and here I am buying thee 100 series... haiz... Just couldn't resist the double-decker cars!

That 233-8000 looks sharp.  And the 251 looks better than the real thing! :)

Kato's Super View Odoriko is one of my favorite models as well.  I've been trying to find a used 10-car formation for a while.

JR500, I wish I could help you with the interior light issues.  Reputable sites list interior lights as standard equipment for this model ( http://www.modelrailwaymuseum.com/museum_166.htm ).  Have you looked inside one of the cars to make sure that the lights are really missing and not just malfunctioning?

Two small parcels arrived today from Plaza Japan; a "Three F" convenience store from Tomix and a Tomytec bus turntable. I'm still waiting for my Greenmax enginehouse kit from PJ.

I only managed to get the basic set, but the older painting one. I think I liked the new painting better (Green) but this one was going at a reasonable price so decided to go for this instead.

Thank you for checking! Just wish to note I liked the web site (modelrailwaymuseum) you posted too, always a good source for model train sets.

My bad, I didn't see the interior lighting when I looked, but when I tested it yesterday, they worked and are there perfectly nice! Silly me should have checked first before thinking they're missing, but they really are quite hard to see from the exterior windows, very well hidden into the roof... Thanks all!

Received a package with this stuff last week... didn't have time to open it until today though.

The TM23 should have been a TM-20 of course, but loco1hobby accidentally swapped them while packaging. The TM-20 will soon be on its way to me though and I was told to keep the TM-23 for free!

Yesterday I went for some hanami (get drunk in public and something with flowers ). That and the combination of changing in Yokohama prompted me to buy a Tetsudo Collection Keikyu 230 type... It was too nice to let it sit there in the convenience store.

@katoftw

The Tetsudou Musume and limited express livery ones should also be on its way to me soon! :)

I have way too much Tomytec trains now and just one power unit on its way. I just don't have the funds to get more at the moment so I'm glad it's easy to swap power units so easily. Maybe I'll get a second TM-20 power unit at the release of the two more Otsu lines trains this summer.

I also already don't have enough trailer parts and pantographs, but I'm not sure if I'll be getting more pantos because they don't really make that much a difference from a normal distance to be honest.

@Toni

I'd wish they'd sell model trains in the supermarket over here! I really keep wishing for a Railway Collection-like thing with Dutch trains~
