shiniji
Hello Guys, I've been working on the modules for the last few days (I want to get all the modules greened for the model building fair in Vienna 😄 ). First I rebuilt the yard: glued tracks and graveled the empty areas on the tracks. All of that aged. I also vacuumed off the loose greenery, which will be greened again tomorrow. It's looking a lot better now. 7 Link to comment
shiniji
next I continued to build the 4th track module. The shell was finished a long time ago, so I first shaped the terrain and then glued on the tracks. The terrain consists of a Styrodur core on which I used up construction foam. I edited this after hardening and then covered it with toilet paper and a mixture of water and wood glue. Then came the "Noch Felsspachtel" and paint. I think I'll get the modules greened by the weekend 🙂 only the water will come onto the module after the trade fair in Vienna. 10 Link to comment
shiniji
Hello Guys 🙂 the model Toy fair in Vienna is over, but before that I've finished a few things on my modules. so I have a few pictures for you again, also from the fair of my modules (the rest will then go into the right topic). Pictures of the transport condition: there are always 3-4 modules mounted one above the other in a group for transport, which can be carried by two people (one person can even carry one person alone) and it fits in a small van ("Sprinter"). some pictures of the yard and the new track module. 11 Link to comment
cteno4
OMG! A sprinter van would be fantastic for shows! So many years of doing Tetris with all the club modules in vehicles and being so careful that we had enough room in the vehicles there at teardown to get them home! At least Ttrak is much more manageable but I can still fill the Prius V to the max with a 14’ loop… jeff 2 Link to comment
shiniji
Jeff, I can load 30 modules with the wooden legs and accessories into the Ford Transit 😄 it was perfect for transportation (we can get it relatively cheap here thanks to corporate rates). So, 3 station modules, 3 yard modules, 4 track modules, 3 (actually 4!) curve modules, 4 x 4 arc modules (16) and 1 module from lighthouse were in the transporter as well as the legs for the modules 🙂 I'll continue with pictures 🙂 I got some of the curve modules ready in the basic design, unfortunately I ran out of cherry trees (so far 220 pieces have been installed 😮 ), but supplies are ordered 😄 godzilla and mothra were the selfie highlight of the fair 😄 Edited November 3, 2022 by shiniji 10 Link to comment

shiniji
Hello Guys 🙂 I finally finished the pictures from the fair of my modules, so here are a few impressions 🙂 I put the modules back up yesterday and today, alone. We have our annual November exhibition on Sunday. I hope you like these pictuers. Kind Regards Patrick Edited November 8, 2022 by shiniji 10 Link to comment

shiniji
Hello everyone, After more than 2 years there are updates again 🙂 a lot has happened to the modules. I would like to start with the ground design of the yard, bushes and trees have been added here (as of 2022), although the yard will change fundamentally again (I will also replace the tracks this year). For now, just a picture. We continue with the 4-part arched module group with the small tunnel. Here the greenery with trees and bushes has also been done. Now the whole thing looks much better. I finally continued with the slope module that I built shortly before Vienna 2022. Here the design is finished except for the water (although I am also considering replacing the tracks here). By the way, Ulli (leuchtturm) and Markus (mwagner) can be seen in the background as we meet several times a year to do some crafting together) And finally (at least for today, there's more to see soon 😉 ) after more than 10 years my bridge module, which was one of my first, is almost finished. I had replaced the large bridge with the small one (mainly because of the track cleaning 😕 ). Markus then designed the riverbed for me (stones and sand) and then I cast the whole thing with 2-component resin, now the water effects are still missing (flowing water, spray and waves, etc.). The second house has also been refurbished and the module looks much better now. Kind regards Patrick Edited March 9 by shiniji 11 Link to comment
cteno4
Patrick, great to see you and the layout back! When is the next show? jeff 1 Link to comment
shiniji
Thanks Jeff 🙂 At the moment there are no exhibitions planned (or applications are ongoing, but mostly only cancellations because the exhibitions are looking for more mini systems 😕 However, my modules are in their usual place in our club and are attracting more and more fans to the exhibitions who travel long distances especially for this reason Link to comment
shiniji
We continue with the harbor module group. Last year I finished the modules here, except for the houses and small details. First the surface was prepared for the water. The edges were sealed with plastic and water effects (the water is on 3 modules - it wasn't that easy). While the seal was drying I prepared the surface with soil. The water was again filled with 2-component material(by the way, it's cheaper to use normal 2-component casting resin than the overpriced model railway material 😉 I always buy 5l canisters with 2kg hardener, which is enough for a lot of water and I can water it up to 5cm high), I color the water when mixing with color pigments from Woodland. Then we continued with the small planned tea farm on the 1st module. The greening followed in two passes, first with 2mm fibers and then with 4.5mm. Later this was supplemented with smaller tufts. Even though it's kitschy, the koi pond couldn't be missing 😉 Finally, trees and bushes were added again. What's still missing are the buildings in the harbor, small details and the water effects that are supposed to show slight waves. First overview 🙂 a few more pictures follow 😉 Kind Regards, Patrick 4 Link to comment

cteno4
Wow, looking stunning shinji! Wonderful you have a space to keep the modules set up to work on and club to play on. Venue space gets expensive these days. Even at the biggest we were a fraction of you layout size and it limited us from some venues. Our layout 3.0 design was designed to be a bit more compact on the scenes and less on track and then some spaces were we could add modules to lengthen the whole layout. really wonderful work! Kudos. cheers jeff Link to comment
shiniji
Thanks 🙂 I'll try my best, jeff. I can also build smaller, that's not the problem, it's more my attitude towards it: after building the large curve modules, I don't like the small corners anymore 😕 especially since the large layout also includes really long trains – which I simply prefer. I've been planning and collecting for an "H0e" layout for some time now, and I think it could also be something for exhibitions, but that will take some time. shiniji
Now we come to the biggest renovation: I replaced all of the station's tracks with Peco ones because the Tomix switches no longer worked properly after years (and a bit too much paint). This meant I had to rearrange the platforms, which required a lot of planning (due to the separation points between the modules). The next big modification was the sidewalks, which I only built in a simplified version back then - now there are some nice laser-cut kits that I discovered at J-Scale. The lighting is also now flicker-free thanks to a rectifier (which was always easy to see in the videos). At the moment I'm working on elaborating on the whole thing (mainly with figures, lots and lots of figures...), illuminated traffic lights, and finally the houses will be illuminated and given neon signs and running lights. Shortly before destruction The guys helped a lot 😉 Pertinax transitions for the module ends The first tracks (yay) By the way, there is a complete control panel for the station, control of the points and the tracks can later be supplied with power in 3 sections, so I can park several trains on one track or recreate train separations on one track. The current in the station itself can then be regulated down without reducing the voltage on the track (so more trains can run on one circuit - that's what the regulators and voltage displays are for). I'm already thinking about it when I plan something 🙂 By the way, this is still the 1st version, which was too small Now with gravel 😄 New fences and sidewalks There is a new railway crossing, so the road makes more sense (previously the road ended at the railway tracks). Here "mwagner" has specially illuminated the Greenmax flashing lights for me. And finally the first view of the city with figures (on the first module there are about 200) You can see there is still a lot of work to be done, especially on the details. The street layout will also change a bit when the illuminated traffic lights are installed and the houses are illuminated and have advertisements and running lights 🙂 Kind Regards Patrick 12 Link to comment
shiniji
Hi everyone, I've picked out four photos from the past exhibitions in 2023 and 2024. In 2023, I was back with my layout to our model railway dealer's summer festival in Wiesau, where I was also able to exhibit my first two layouts and my first modules. In 2024, my modular layout was first in Dresden for a model railway exhibition (there you can see more in a different theme from Leuchtturm), in October at an anniversary exhibition of another model railway club in Selbitz, and, as every year, at our club in Wunsiedel. You can see the interest is always very high 🙂 My modules have already been to a few exhibitions and I have to say there hasn't been any real damage and they work (the simple electrics do have their advantages 😉 ). Wiesau 2023 Dresden 2024 Selbitz 2024 Wunsiedel (2024/2025) Back to the real topic, of course refining the locomotives and carriages is part of the overall package 😉 So a while ago I grabbed two locomotives, brushes and paints from Citadel and Vallejo and spent two relaxing evenings aging the locomotives. On the first evening a C11 from Kato was aged. I looked for model photos on the internet (matching the locomotive number - unfortunately none were found) and picked out a suitable model for the aging. It looks much better now, not so shiny like plastic anymore 😄 What do you think? Tomorrow we'll see the other one, a Kato 8600. Kind Regards, Patrick 6 Link to comment
lighthouse
Dresden was one of the best exhibitions for IG-nippoN in the past. Hope we can go next year again... Link to comment
shiniji
Hi everyone, @lighthouse I also hope that we can take part again next year Today I'm showing you a Kato 8600 that I've weathered. There are more locomotives and cars I'll be introducing to you, and I occasionally weather other locomotives and cars to make them look a bit more realistic. 8 Link to comment
