That french mail van is totally out-of-setting in a Japanese style layout!

Going slightly off-topic, a volcanic debris protection shelter in Sakurajima.

Looks like something Tomytec could bring out.

Looks like the weather shelters I see around me, except made of concrete instead of plastic and ours are stationed around for school bus stops.

Bridge made from an old JNR auto carrier.

I've plenty of picture online of bridges made from old Pullman coaches. Handful of mountain excursion trains I've been on have had flatcars as bridges. Saw a boxcar once.

Actually makes some sense when you think about it. It's a ready-made, very strong frame that can easily be manipulated.

When the platform on your layout is only 8 cars long, but you really want to run that 9-car 381 series. (Marine Yakumo service at Takamatsu station)

When you get tired of plain boring metal or concrete lampposts and want to go for that organic look.

(not directly railway-related, but I was standing more-or-less above the Marunouchi line tunnel when I took the photo, if it helps).

Edit: also the building in the middle is owned by Seibu.

Therapist:

E2 Series with intermediate East-i car formations don't exist. They can't hurt you.

@Densha

If I recall properly, that was a diagnostics/geometry car. It got ran on whatever it would fit with, although has since been retired.

You want to model the Yamanote Line, but also run a 215 series? Or just want to put a nice sparkly headboard on your 205 series?

No problem (from ca 2:50):

though you'll have to pretend it's very early in the morning on January 1st, 2000.

That feeling when you have to limit the platform length on your layout because of space constraints, but then find out that short four-tracked stations actually exist.

2-3 car lenght there....

a not uncommon formation

Yes, but the platform layout is unusual for that length of train.

Nanbu Line E233 running in passenger service on the Chuo Main Line well outside of Tokyo? No problem.

These are running extra services to and from Kami-Suwa for the Suwako Fireworks Festival which takes place each summer. I was aware the E233-0s (and before them 201s) were used for this, but the Nanbu one is new.

Got some white paint left over and wondering what it would look like if you painted an entire car including the windows with it?

Isnt that the depot where trains go to be scrapped?  Maybe it had an advertising wrap on it or something which they didn't want showing when in the dead line.
