railsquid
Going slightly off-topic, a volcanic debris protection shelter in Sakurajima. Looks like something Tomytec could bring out. 1 Link to comment
GDorsett
Looks like the weather shelters I see around me, except made of concrete instead of plastic and ours are stationed around for school bus stops. Link to comment

I've plenty of picture online of bridges made from old Pullman coaches. Handful of mountain excursion trains I've been on have had flatcars as bridges. Saw a boxcar once. Actually makes some sense when you think about it. It's a ready-made, very strong frame that can easily be manipulated. Link to comment

Densha
When the platform on your layout is only 8 cars long, but you really want to run that 9-car 381 series. (Marine Yakumo service at Takamatsu station) 4 Link to comment

Densha
You can't run a Izukyu 2100 Series on your Tokyu layout, that doesn't make sense! 1 Link to comment
GDorsett
@Densha If I recall properly, that was a diagnostics/geometry car. It got ran on whatever it would fit with, although has since been retired. Link to comment

Hah, I think I saw that film, but didn't notice that. Someone has modelled something similar: https://enjoyscenery.blog.fc2.com/blog-entry-861.html and helpfully provided photo evidence: https://enjoyscenery.blog.fc2.com/blog-entry-862.html 2 Link to comment
railsquid
You want to model the Yamanote Line, but also run a 215 series? Or just want to put a nice sparkly headboard on your 205 series? No problem (from ca 2:50): though you'll have to pretend it's very early in the morning on January 1st, 2000. Link to comment

railsquid
Nanbu Line E233 running in passenger service on the Chuo Main Line well outside of Tokyo? No problem. These are running extra services to and from Kami-Suwa for the Suwako Fireworks Festival which takes place each summer. I was aware the E233-0s (and before them 201s) were used for this, but the Nanbu one is new. Link to comment

Kiha66
Isnt that the depot where trains go to be scrapped? Maybe it had an advertising wrap on it or something which they didn't want showing when in the dead line. Link to comment
railsquid
Yup, Nagano. (digs about a bit on the interwebs) Aha, most likely a "canvas train" for an upcoming event, see e.g.: http://naganowakaho.cocolog-nifty.com/blog/2015/10/post-e7d7.html 1 Link to comment
