  1. In an effort to attract more ridership post-corona, JR Tokai has started a campaign, with the slogan- "lets go, somebody is waiting to see you", emphasizing more personal or leisure trips to intermediate destinations on the Tokaido Shinkansen, in particular Shizuoka. Shizuoka is getting an additional Hikari stop (on an evening "down" service i.e. departing Tokyo) starting March 16, the first addition in 16 years. Currently a total of 37 Hikari (combined up and down) services stop daily in Shizuoka, with the aforementioned train in the spring timetable revision this will become 38. *at 0:55 the scene is an "up" Shinkansen service crossing the Toyokawa River, with Toyohashi in the background.
  2. JR East promoting travel by train to the Tohoku region this autumn/winter, aimed at millennials, song is "RPG" by Sekai no Owari. Good sound editing including clickety clack and signature shinkansen aerodynamic whine at speed. 30 second spot: Extended 90 sec. spot:
  3. Begins with Keihan, JNR L Tokkyu (clockface services) and ends with the Tobu Spacia X, entering service next month. Even JR freight makes a couple of appearances.
  4. Catch copy (slogan) is "let's go out and visit/meet someone". Many lineside scenes from the passenger window familiar to those that often use the Tokaido Shinkansen, as well as on-board experiences (rock hard ice cream...) another version, focusing on the journey itself, lots of views from the window:
  5. A couple of new TV cms from Meitetsu, commemorating its 120th anniversary with the slogan "connecting hearts, heading to tomorrow". First cm is a short 1 minute spot emphasizing service and safety, the second an admittedly tropey animated feature emphasizing family, with the railway as the ever-present facilitator/setting (the private [mintetsu 民鉄] railway being the familiar local means of transport). Songs as always by Kazumasa Oda.
  6. Keisei Skyliner. Emphasizing the straightness and speed of the route, no doubt contrasting with JR East’s more circuitous and slow service, at least to Tokyo. Keio Railway Liner service. A long feature CM emphasizing the comfort the service provides for tired workers going home. Finally, a CM from Odakyu advertising their quad tracking becoming fully operational this month with the spring timetable revision.
  7. The training center that opened last April in Koto Ward, Shin Kiba: Couple of CMs about the new 13000 series 20m stock for the Hibiya Line:
  8. Recent editions from the "Eyes of Metro" series, focusing on the work of staff in the various departments. Catenary work: Trackwork: https://youtube.com/watch?list=PLtk4G3PAF0ClMFshFDvEbXWS1bZS7xhaI&params=OAFIAVgC&v=84hLyAHWFJw&mode=NORMAL Very nice extended 3 min. CM (titled "Comprehensive Strength") of a typical 24 hours on the metro system, especially interesting is the segment from midway, after the stations close down and the maintenance begins: https://youtube.com/watch?list=PLtk4G3PAF0ClMFshFDvEbXWS1bZS7xhaI&params=OAFIAVgE&v=MAA4ac-FJ4g&mode=NORMAL
  9. This is an old commercial, but I saw it on TV again tonight. Thought the photographers on this board might be interested.
  10. Saw this non-consumer product Toshiba CM on TV tonight. There are two versions, a general version and a version for Kansai. Products include pmsm motors, hd300 hybrid loco, and passenger information displays. General version: Kansai version (this version uses Hankyu 1000 series rather than Tokyo Metro 1000 series):
  11. Last night watching TV Tokyo's "Cambria Kyuden" program, there was this CM for Tokyo Metro. It's part of their "Metro wa susumu, susumeru" series focusing on infrastructure improvements. It's a stylized depiction of the Tozai Line. Starting at about 0:10 is the section of line between Kudanshita and Iidabashi, where a flat junction causes a bottleneck with turnback operations. The pocket track will be converted to a passing track, allowing through trains to proceed while a turnback train is reversing in an ecs move. At about 0:18 is Minami Sunamachi Station. The current station is quite restricted in space as it was built with caisson method tunneling, and is quite congested with passengers during the rush hours. Another platform will be built, allowing what is called "sougou hacchaku", or near simultaneous arrival and departure, which lessens headways and should clear out the crowds faster at this spot. Tokyo Metro info on infrastructure projects, the above projects on p. 8: http://www.tokyometro.jp/corporate/profile/scheme/pdf/plan_h27_2.pdf To add, a CM from Metro's "Anzen. Anshin. Metro no Me" series focusing on the work of individuals and their departments: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6RaFEQObvYc
  12. Now well into autumn, the idiot box has more cold remedy commercials airing. This is a recently debuted commercial for "Estak" cold medicine, titled "Express" (presumably b/c it's fast acting). I detect a strong Odakyu influence in this one... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LyPXFHAbLFw
