I put in an order for another set of the Hankyu Tetsudo Collection trains, the 2300 renewal (yellow stripe). I also messed up applying the decals so two of the cars are going to look odd if you look too closely...follow those guides clearly folks.

Just received this Ozora from Plaza Japan.  We rode the Hokuto from Hakodate and I wanted a model of it.  The Ozora has the same livery so seemed a good bet.  Interesting price comparison between Plaza Japan and Suruga-Ya and I will write about my experience and post that as it might be useful for someone comparison shopping.

Ciao,

Tony

Nice!  I have the yellow Mickey Mouse set.  Purchased it last year when I was in Japan.  It happened to be on sale too!

Do you plan to DCC it?

Got another Hobbysearch package today:

I was expecting a Kato C56 160 which I did get, but what I wasn’t expecting was that the box contained my Tomix C58 239! I’d sent it away on January 5th for a replacement combination lever to be fitted, and I’d actually been wondering lately when it would come home. Well, it’s home now, complete with new combination lever. I’ll have to give it its first run next week!

I probably should check how HS worked the refund for shipping, probably as points I guess?

Most certainly will. But my "soon to DCC" pile grows faster than I can work on it, so no clue when. 😕

I received a huge package from our beloved RG-Rokko today. Several items accumulated over about three months. Thanks again for their great service!

  • Kato 10-1878 Series E657 'Series E653 Revival Color (Green)' 10 Cars Set - I always wanted a set of E657 and was about to purchase the original color, then I saw this set was going to be released, so I changed my mind.
  • Kato 2020-2 C56 160 Steam Locomotive and 10-1820 JR Series 12 Passenger Car JR West Version 6 Cars Set - I like steam locomotives but only collect when the whole set is released.
  • HCSP0220 E3 Series Shinkansen 'Thank You Komachi' <ありがとうこまち> - I feel the set is way too expensive. I bought it because I saw the actual train when I traveled to Japan, and I don't have any E3 yet.
  • Kato 10-1573 and 23-583 - continuing my Koki200 collection. Did not pay attention that one set actually includes two Koki.
  • Tomix 98822 JR 485-700系電車(リゾートやまどり)Resort Yamadori   - saw at least three times when visiting Kusatsu Onsen many times. My first and last impression of 485 Joyful Train (ジョイフルトレイン, joifuru torein).
  • Tomytec 鉄道コレクション 富山地方鉄道 0600E形電車 (LRT) 0608 and デ7000形 7016 - continuing my tram collection from Tomytec from the very beginning when Tomytec released their first tram back in about 2009!
  • Tomytec Truck Collection Concrete Pump Truck Sets - thought of putting these into my diorama but who knows when I will finish it...

I had another field day at Nikkyosha hobby store today as it's Friday, and I had a locomotive bonanza.
I picked up both the C56 160 and EF81 300 in the special "rose pink" livery. It'll look very befitting on my layout once it's covered with Sakura.

Here they are seen near my "mini train museum", as I like to call it, in my layout room.

Today also was the arrival of my new KATO smart device controller. Now I can drive from my phone.

And if that weren't enough, I have the C62 2 (Swallow deflector) coming in the mail soon!

Be sure to post when you do get to it.  I'll be interested in how you do it.  (Unless I get to it first.  🤣)

Well, every third moon and when mars is aligned with the sun, I get something for myself as well. The HS sale had some older gen trains I felt would break up my extremely modern collection, so I went a tad overboard ...

I regret it all when I considering all the DCC conversion work again ...

Have some ideas for a small 9mm ナロー layout as space is limited. While this is definitely a back burner project, couldn’t pass up this N gauge (but HO scale) fictional diesel based on a similar forest line loco. Love that 80 series type front. Definitely Tomytec have been putting more effort into these releases as the locos now sport moulded wipers, rivets and additional details lacking when the product line was launched.

It came with a log wagon that is not quite so detailed. The logs actual hide the weight compartment and the wagons can be turned around to use either narrow gauge style or rapido couplers. The wagon has created some controversy as it is actually modelled on a Type 97 freight car used by the Japanese Army Railway Regiment and is not a lumber wagon.  These newer narrow gauge couplers are much more realistically sized than their previous counter parts and I’m currently using a bent piece of brass wire to couple loco and wagon.

Previously items I’d converted to Greenmax knuckles but the log wagon won’t allow these changes. I was reluctant to use the more prototypical narrow gauge couplers on the earlier releases as even when taking off the extension pieces, they’re very long.

Just got this from Hobby Search. Only took 16 days with their new service. My previous surface order from January STILL hasn't arrived:  1) Tomix 2023 Guide 2) turnout extension cord and 3) station extention for a station I haven't got yet from that January order. 🤣

Yes I just got a hobbysearch ECMS package there to DC in 12 days. Nice seems to be similar to the old SAL but sadly not as economical…

I just use their current cheaper air parcel or whatever it's calle option. Take 2-3 weeks to get to me.  Slower than old air packet but quicker than old SAL

Today a friend sent me my first Autocarrier and I got some parts to put together a Bluetooth speaker Tomix car for size reference.
