bc6
Lots of odds and ends plus lots of styrene to make walkways for the GreenMax Maintenance Garage. There is an EF81 in there which I can't wait to add the details to and DCC. I got some resistors and some awesome Kato vehicles. Also included in today's delivery were some coupler springs and couplers as well, This was a well-rounded delivery. Edited February 4 by bc6 3 Link to comment
Suica
Kato E2-1000 Series (200 Series Color) Was a bit of a tough decision since I neither rode nor saw it irl but I think the 200 Series colors look amazing on the E2. 8 Link to comment
Giugiaro
It's been a while since I've posted something on this forum. Some are going to be very well aware of what I've been ordering over the past months, as I've kept a daily presence on the JNS Forum's Discord server. Starting with the arrival of the V2 and V4 sets, which I already tried and messed around with. Which were sent together with an M1 set that I bought to gift to a kid in our family for Christmas. Together with the M1 went a JNR Series 103 and a set of KATO clear open pit tracks for display. Later last month, I had the opportunity to inherit these fine units from one of our members. 5 Link to comment

Kamome
Received some Kyushu based freight locos (ED76-0, EF81-300) and some tank containers to make an “Omuta Freight” consist Opting to wait for the Tomix Koki 200s rather than get the Kato ones. The fidelity is a little better and the ride height seems more to scale on their Kokis. Edited February 8 by Kamome 6 Link to comment
SL58654号
He's a Really Useful Engine, you know... I had my eyes on this little gem for a while. It's one of the most unusual items of Thomas merchandise ever made, I'd say, as it's based upon a locomotive decorated for a Days Out with Thomas event, in this case the Oigawa Railway's C11 227, and I'm happy to have him as a part of my SL fleet! No matter how old I get I'll never forget that little blue creation by the Rev. W. Awdry that was the genesis of my love of railways. Also, my friend's video about the introduction of Thomas on the Oigawa Railway, one of the sanctums of Steam in Japan, further compelled me to go for it in my Kumamoto hobby store, especially since it was at a considerably lower price! He's also a good runner on my layout. While construction my Sakuragi no Yu Sen has taken a brief hiatus, when it's publicly displayed, no doubt Thomas will appeal to viewers young and old. Now all that I need is a Ransomes & Rapier turntable! 😊 7 Link to comment

Perhaps I may go for one of them (or both!). 1 Link to comment
railsquid
Not a new delivery, according to my records I purchased it in December 2021, but as a reward for disposing of a number of items of unwanted junk stock, it was time to get it out and have more than a cursory glance. beakaboy
my last items arrived recently from the hattons closing down sale. The 0-6-0 needs a chimney ( I already have a Tomix 0-6-0 so that will be handy to measure the chimney and replicate) The containers were listed as HO scale 4 Link to comment

Suica
And a few new arrivals of the week. Tomix Hello Kitty Shinkansen Tomix Tobu 500 Series Revaty Limited Edition GreenMax Hankyu 6000 Series Imazu Minami Line / Koyo Line I'm always a bit bummed out that Hankyu does not get the models they deserve. While GreenMax does release quite a lot of them they just don't look the part. Hankyu trains should be extremely glossy. It seems as if Popondetta is the only manufacturer that really pulled this off nicely. Kato Hankyu trains are a good compromise between looks and price but I wish they would actually make more of them and not just re-release the same three sets over and over again. 10 Link to comment

The MicroAce are pretty good in my opinion, but it's pity they only make a few different series. I'm waiting for someone that is not Tomytec to make the various 5000 series. Link to comment

Kingmeow
Tony (et al), I'm assuming your can't read Japanese or read it fluently (I can be completely wrong on this). So when you buy these books and magazine, are you just looking at the pictures and perhaps Google translate the description and a few paragraphs? When I was in Japan for 15 days last September I randomly came upon a small book store in Tokyo Station where they had a fairly good selection of train books and magazines. I was initially thrilled. Although I would love to buy a few I leafed through a few and realizes there's no way in hell I would be able to even come close in deciphering the test. At last I just gave up. Wondering what people's strategy is in attacking these publications when they can't read Japanese. Link to comment
cteno4
These books are heavily picture oriented and great references just visually and inspirationally. For text I will use mobile device camera and translate apps to read some of the text to get specific details when curiosity piqued by pictures. Many of the modeling books have interesting stepwise phtots that speak a 1000 words without google translate. cheers jeff 3 Link to comment
Tony Galiani
@Kingmeow - ditto to what Jeff said. Also, I have a lot of trouble coming up with scenic ideas when building layouts so the pictures are a big help for me. For example, when I was leaving YFS, the owner threw in one of his shrine sets to my purchase. In looking in the first book above, on page 107, there is a shrine scene with the same elements in that set. Perfect - I plan to use that as a template for a scene with that kit. Cheers, Tony 4 Link to comment
