What did you order or the post deliver? (Japanese N Gauge)

My recent additions after visiting the UK over the holidays and preorders being delivered.

Kato 283 9 car Ocean Arrow preorder

Walthers Coal mine kit which I intend to kit bash into a limestone facility. With hindsight, I probably also needed their Glacier Gravel kit but this has a good number of elements similar to facilities I have visual reference of. These kits are difficult to find and expensive in Japan so definitely a “buy it if you see it”purchase in the UK.

Apologies, I include some HO items although not the correct thread, it’s easier to post in one.

Another HO Tomix naha 10(11) which seem to be like hens teeth. This is newly boxed from the last production run in 2014 and courtesy of Santa and Rails of Sheffield.

Finally some preordered Runtec containers from Model Icon . These were actually delayed by about a month, like the Ocean Arrow. They were a little pricey for containers but have some very fine detail. They seem to now be sold out in many retailers but they have announced a run of similar containers without the side door.

Buyee has had some great deals so far, so I decided to take advantage off their 15% off coupon on select Mercari products. I got a Pre-Owned Kato 10-1644 E261 Saphir Odoriko, along with some tracks from Rakuten. I also decided to buy some tracks of Plaza Japan, and got some tracks too since I could not find them on Rakuten, along with some containers! Im expecting them sooner or later, whenever DHL decides to have my package arrive on time 😄.

Some time passed since I last posted in this thread, so here are my new additions from the last half year or so:

Tomix 92052 as an addition to my 92051 Narita Express 253series, busses, a truck and a Kato 205series I got cheaply off YAJ. This set is not really 10-490, but a mix of another set to produce the Naha2 formation in it's last active years on the Nambu line. Quite interesting story for a train set, and one that made that set a bit cheaper than the rest. Still have to find one skirt for a Kuha204 though, as one is missing. If anyone has one (Kato Z04-3384), I'd be happy about a DM.

After Christmas, a large package arrived with a lot of scenery for a planned refinery. Also included were the ne Tomix C58 and a few blue coaches I bought mainly because of the Oyu10 mail car.

And at last I got some really nice tank cars (MA A2673) from @Martijn Meerts, as well as a truck.

The light animation is great, but, opposed to what they show in the video, totally random.

Thank you for the review as I was also contemplating purchasing this light set. The videos I've watched on YouTube and the video on their website for this product seem to show a distinct programmed light function where the lights work in unisom with each other, suggesting that the lights must be placed in specific order. But since you mentioned that the lights were totally random, does this mean that the lights don't work in unisom, with each individual car randomly flashing different colored lights? And when you say it's rainbow colored when operating at higher speeds, are the lights flashing or constant? Any info much appreciated. Thanks!

I didn't have any bananas around hence the sneaker lol.

Heh, we used to use "the shoe test" to see if a car was lowered enough...it is a valid form of measurement!

For most of my life a size 14 shoe was my measurement of a foot! But now things are all off as the last decade my feet have gotten bigger so my scale is all thrown off.

Hi Odakyu,

So, these lights work well but ONLY with Tomix CL power packs. I tried it and they work as they show in the video. You need to finick with the CL function on the Tomix power packs to get the lights to work properly. Note that it will NOT work with KATO powerpacks, even the S or HX ones (I tried all of them) because the CL function apparently isn't consistent enough or something. Idk. But it would have been nice if KHAHO mentioned that it was only compatible with TOMIX power packs before I bought them... If you have more questions PM me or join the chat (click Chat top of the JNS page).

I recently tried a Suruga-Ya

Didn't even know about this one up until now

Prices seem about average for most stuff, but I've found some interesting stuff.

I'll have to keep this one in mind; Maybe put this one in the suppliers section?

MD12's post on Suruga-ya was moved over to the suppliers forum as a good start on that vendor there.

I haven't bought any Japanese models in a real long time but during my recent Japan trip I got reminded how much I love Japanese trains and simply had to take some pretty good deals home.
