I could have gotten them that way but when you include shipping costs, they were only about 30 dollars cheaper than what I paid for the entire V16 set. And I got quite a few more pieces of track with the V16. Not long after purchasing this, I got outbid on another used V16 set. You can't win them all. 😁

I was watching the Saitama-Shintoshin live feed on YouTube last night and watched 22 KoKis go by with only one single 19D container on the middle one.

It's a feature you don't see very often on model railways; a string of virtually empty container flats. At least in the UK that was partly explained by the flats themselves not being very detailed (newer models have changed that to an extent) and being very light. Also the containers add a splash of colour, which I suppose adds to the visual interest.

 

These wagons are quite weighty considering there isn't much to them, having the main chassis block made from metal. That helps with the stability.

Hi Eric, that is the Chuo line Shikisai (4 seasons) train... it ran on the Chuo line near Ume if i'm not wrong?

Correct, mainly on the Ōme and Itsukaichi branches of the Chuo Line, but also did a fair bit of excursion work.

 

This livery was ca. 2001 - 2005.

Interesting train which I’ve not come across before. Was this a Kato “Roundhouse” release? The word “Roundhouse“ always makes me think of Chuck Norris! 🤣

Finally received my March shipment from HS, to make up for it I finally got the secret truck in the trailer collection:

I thought the Tomica helicopter would be a little more in scale but it's way on the big side (should have figured as it is 1/124).

 

Also an EF64 I got from MB Klein, their prices on Kato locomotives seem to be pretty, needless to say this one was pressed into revenue service fast:

I really don't like the all-plastic pantographs on the Tomix one I have, they feel too fragile and I already had to reassemble one. I much prefer to metal on the Kato one, they feel more durable.

From RG Rokko in July. An EF58 to haul my Kamome express when my C62 wants a rest, and  Series 400 Yamagata Shinkansen. I broke my vow of not having any shinkansen, but justify this as the 400 Series I rode one Spring to Yamagata for cherry picking season. And it doesn’t look out of place at at station at ground level.

Four words that should never be used in written any sentence "Kyushu empire nearing completion", that is unless you have a wallet that is able to fill the veritable financial blackhole that will be created by the myriad of Greenmax and MicroAce purchases.

I stick to Kato so that I can afford food! 🤣 if I started dipping into other brands I’d be broke, so my ‘Kato’ Kyushu empire is nearly complete!

That's the nice thing about the mini-Shinkansen sets, you get away with running them with 'normal' trains and it's not out of place.

Hey you need shelter so you have somewhere to run your trains and keep them safe from the elements.
