My Kato Legends Collection 381 series showed up today!   The listing said used but it's actually brand new other than a scratch on the box, how lucky is that?   Super happy with this one, I think it might quickly become a favorite!

There is no excuse (needed) for the kitchenbahn.  It is the best sort!

And the 381 is nice as well.  That JNR livery evokes a certain emotion and image of another time.

Picked up some track yesterday, nothing exciting, just a single Peco X-over crossing and, um, (slowly counting in head) ... 22 switches.

Miscounted, haha

One week of Ebay madness.

Atleast the Aoshima figures were a gift.

I saw a bus!  😛

Well seller was great to include those gifts!

Two weeks from now is going to be a lot more costly than just a couple of switches like this week, haha!

And actually, the worst part is that it turns out I DID happen to get 32 switches, not 22... 😵 Lots of miscounting today on my part!

Well now you'll have to change your username! Maybe something along the lines of EH500 (9)/EH800 (3)

Lets not go down this slippery slope, that would lead to a looong name. :sad1:

Can't say no to a 3€ bus!

Those gifts are not from a seller though, got these from a friend who has a scale model shop and ordered them without noticing the scale.

Luckily they are out of region so I don't think we will see masses of them being collected, that is unless somebody decides to switch from Hokkaido to Chuo Mainline.

Oh no, my auction item apparently was outbid, AFTER it reached the ZM warehouse! 😂

(Will upload pictures soon, hopefully.)

Though they've been retired for a decade a Suigun Line KiHa-110 showed up on my layout helping to keep my promise to stick with only JR East and Hokkaido.

My experiences with Mandarake have taught me that in Japan 'used' has a much different context. I bought a figure once that had 'severe box damage' and had 'paint damage'. Needless to say I paid close to $75 less than normal and the 'severe' damage was a slightly crushed corner and the paint damage was a small inconspicuous chip.

I'll double thumbs-up 👍 this post.   I bought a "used" KATO 10-865 Shinkansen 800 on Amazon.co.jp from a marketplace vendor for significantly less than the other vendors had this set.  It was brand new -- if run, only test run.  The outside sleeve had a slightly crushed corner.  I've since bought other "used" sets on Amazon.co.jp from marketplace senders and in every case, have gotten a basically brand new older set with maybe some slight cosmetic problems in the sleeve or a slightly crushed corner or something.   I've not shied away from the "used" stuff based on my experiences.

This is one of the reasons why it is so hard for Western goods to get a toe hold in Japan. Any garment with loose threads, not necessarily anything unusual in some retail circles here, immediately gets dumped into a clearance bin in Japan.  I'm happy with my used train experiences also.

I have taken a liking to greenmax kits. Just got my keikyu 600 blue sky kits. From amiami.

Also picked up my first TGW mini Koppel. It's even smaller than I thought! I have it linked up with my tomix yo8000. Running best on my rokuhan rc01 controller.

Got my second Greenmax Model and the lame excuse for getting this one is because I rode it, actually I also really like the Kintetsu Urbanliners as I have 3 of the originals. 🙂  Got a super deal on eBay on a brand new Kato 10-421 313-0 Series to add to my 1700, 2500, 5000 and 8000 sub series.  Pretty plain and boring but I really like the 313 Series.

Two of my favourite trains!

Man I gotta seriously lurk at Ebay! I'm missing all the good deals!

Beautiful! Now I know where the 8000 series went!  Sweet isn't it?

And my small little parcel from Ami....

Always loved how Kato allows the case to be changed using a simple decal... Much better to look at then a 増結セット written on it...

All change on the Chuo line local services west of Tokyo, with a 211 series and (soon to be withdrawn) 115 series (both Kato) passing at the mouth of one of the many tunnels along the line, probably sometime in early 2014.

I have a sudden liking to the 211series just before you posted this picture... and i'm glad I have gotten lucky with yahoo auctions and gotten for myself a Kato 4-car set ! (In Tokaido colour) ~

Cant wait for it to come and maybe even couple with the 313s!

I'm not a big fan of the 211 series, but they're essential for contemporary Chuo Line operations west of Tachikawa.

Now that means it's time to buy six more 211-series sets!
