marknewton
have you built any of the Sankei in HO yet? Was wondering how they look at that scale. ive been pretty happy with the n scale ones. G'day Jeff, No, I haven't built any of my Sankei kits yet, been flat out at work! But I'm hoping to have a few days off next week and make a start on the station building. Out of curiosity, what have adhesive/glue have you been using on your N scale structures? Cheers, Mark. Link to comment

Mark it will be interesting to see what they look like in HO. in N i think they have just enough detail to look nice and the added benefit over plastic as many parts are actually close to dimensional at scale (not as much of a problem at HO!) ive used tacky white glue (the ticker stuff, sets up faster and easier to push around to only where you want it), organic wood glue, and even some CA cement at times. right now im liking the tacky white glue the best. hope to do a bunch more of them very soon here when i get this work project off my back! cheers jeff Link to comment
David
Not a delivery, but--now that it's August, I finally got the pre-order payment request for the June-release Kato Oito-line E127. And, to be fair, the shipping notice came very quickly after the payment. I wonder if they Niigata 115 and E127 will be this delayed. I think it was a combination of Kato pushing it to the end of the month (the Niigata looks like it will probably come in the first half of August right now, since it's the first item after the August 5th items), and I assume you pre-ordered from HS: for some reason they didn't get stock on the 29th, I just saw that they finally have it today. When they didn't have stock on the 30th, I went over to HW and ordered it from them, it's in the mail now. David, Mainly to see how well they work with trams for ttrak or other little fun things. it was on sale and pretty cheap (for some reason the blue one was cheaper!) so just more of a toy. i would not try to up the voltage as a chap on the tomix list tried that and fried his (i think he tried 12v). he then put in a bakatronics board to replace it (he liked the throttle and reversing handles). yell if you want me to email you his post there. cheers jeff I wouldn't mind a link. And thanks for the company name, I just (started to) checked out their website. Lots of goodies. http://www.bakatronics.com/shop/ It looks like I could have a battery powered pulse controller for under 15$ built: http://www.bakatronics.com/shop/item.aspx?itemid=383 Link to comment
bill937ca
Japan Railfan Magazine 9/2010 with a pull-out supplement that appears to be some kind of JR fleet list. HS is sold out, but it may be available from other sources. Link to comment

Guest ___
My JR East Kiha fleet is done for now. 2x Kiha111+Kiha 112 (1 powered, 1 unpowered), 2x Kiha 110 (1 powered, 1 unpowered), 1x View Coaster Kazekko. Everything neat and tidy (except for the view coaster motor car slot, which needed a little of the foam cut away to make space for the extra diaphragm for connecting cars). Hey, I know that place. Just never seen that lineup before on the cam. Link to comment
KenS
HS notified me that my M250 Super Rail Cargo and the two expansion sets was in and ready to ship, and sent me the paypal note early this AM. I've paid, now the waiting starts. It arrived (actually it arrived Saturday, but I had to go out and of course that's when they tried to deliver it). EMS has been very quick lately. Looks good, runs well. I noticed that the power units in my set (10-565) were numbered -3 and -4, which I believe makes this the second set (from the Japanese wikipedia and some photos it appears there are three sets of power units, numbered Mc250-1/M251-1 to Mc250-6/M251-6). Can anyone who has the original version (10-227?) report if it was numbered -1/-2? Link to comment
inobu
Ken, I went on that wild goose chase a while back. If I remember correctly they are all the same -3 and -4. Check with Domino he had 2 10-227 at one time. Inobu I remember now. The 10-227 was broken into the 10-565 and 10-566. I think it was a cost restructuring for the sets. There wasn't a change in the road number. To verify, I looked at a few ads from the first release and they also ran -3 and -4. Link to comment
Martijn Meerts
Ordered some spare parts for a broken EF510, new motor and driveshafts, although the driveshafts are for a different locomotive, they didn't have the ones for the EF510... hopefully I can just adjust the ones I ordered for the EF510. Also ordered a Kato C11 with 3 cars. They only had 2 of the original cars, so I replaced the 3rd with a museum version of the same car :) Link to comment

Jeff, thanks for the tip, I have a few days book-off at the end of the week, and I've set time aside for modelling. I hope to have something to show by the weekend. All the best, Mark. scott
a Yashica 35GSN rangefinder. Cool! If they built a digital version of that, I'd buy a few. I guess that's what I'm trying to emulate with the Panasonic G1 with the 20mm. That, the GSN, my Canon QL17, and my Fuji GW690 are all very similar in concept, if different in size and film/sensor format. [we now return you to your regularly scheduled topic] Link to comment
Martijn Meerts
I have http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10044940 and http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10112516 on the way Package has been held up in customs for over a week now.. I hate paying extra for an express service, just to have the package shipped from Japan to The Netherlands in 4 days, and then to have customs decide they need some 10 days to figure out what's in a package... Makes me wish they offered Fedex, I have a dvd + poster delivered from Japan to The Netherlands in 2 days, and it was cheaper than EMS =) Link to comment

Claude_Dreyfus
A few bits have arrived...most interestingly two of the new office blocks from Kato. The box they arrived in was huge, although that is what I have come to expect from HS, which is just as well as they are big! Part of a much larger order that also included two Tomix EF64 and two Kato 115-1000 in Nagano livery. I got absolutely slaughtered for import duty and handling fees (see my rants passim ad infinitum) to the tune of £78.00! Also, and from a separate UK source, is a rather sweet Jomo tanker from the Tomix truck collection number 6...obtained especially for the petrol station on Yamanouchi Oshika... Link to comment

GrahamH
I am thinking of ordering the Micro Ace Series KIHA 40 Kiha 48 View Coaster 'Kazekko' Winter Ver. 2-Car Set as described above. Sorry for my ignorance but what close coupling can I order for it? I have other Micro Ace like the EMU with eyes all over it and would like to close couple that. I have been waiting for the Yen to dip but it hasn't; so I looked up some Fleischmann N and Japanese items seem still cheap. And I am back into ordering. Graham H Link to comment
