JR 500系
Don't you just love EMS? Collected my parcel yesterday after only 2 days of travelling! A bulk order from MTP that contained a lot of goodies just in time for weekend! I like the stamps on the box, very cute and interesting with a familiar face on it... In it: A couple of Tomytec structures A really beautiful steam locomotive Microace A9616 C60-7 Tohoku type. My very first steam locomotive! A corresponding coach set (thanks to recommendations from MTP) for the C60-7 Tomytec motorised parts for Tetsudo collection, basically for my Fujidensha set from the previous order A E5 pen and coupling accessories from my Tomix Cassiopeia. My Japanese clients will be amazed to see the pen when we go for meetings together! A Tomix 5506 TCS-N-1001-CL power pack. I've always wanted this for a long time since it had the constant lighting feature, which means you can light the train up even when it is stationary. This is great for parking the train at the station and still having all it's head/tail and interior lights lighted up, especially since 90% of my line up are interior lighted. Some videos on this later... As a hardcore Tomytec bus lover, definitely not missing my chance to get a special bus set. The 50 anniversary Tokyu bus set, now still available at MTP. Some very nice pamphlets which MTP has kindly included. I like the E7 pamphlet! And finally, this takes the limelight of this order. The Kotocha Hyaku Densha! This set is SO cute, I can't put my hands down on this! It comes in a very sweet (and rare nowadays) beautifully crafted VHS cover, great for display. More pictures of this set and perhaps a video in the painted trains section. I am a happy man and a busy weekend ahead! Edited April 5, 2014 by JR500 のぞみ 1 Link to comment
IST
I definitely do not like when someone rings the bell on Saturday at 8:10 am. But today was an exception as some pack arrived from Japan and Liverpool: - Kato catalog (yes, I know, a little bit late), Tomix Kiloposts (I have never seen this magazine before), other Kato books - Santram trams with power units (only one is mine) - Woodland Scenics dark blue bushes (for my small Japanese layout) - Metcalfe paper buildings (for other club members) - 3 cars from Oxford (for my British T-trak modules) - 2 cutting mats. 1 Link to comment
Martijn Meerts
If all goes well, http://world-kougei.com/SHOP/6044280.html should be arriving at my doorstep sometime in the near-ish future .. Yes, it's N-scale, and it's a kit, of a large steam locomotive with lots of drive rods and silly details all over ... (I may end up throwing it out the window while building it ... ) Link to comment

NJHA
Finally, after a long long wait my nex (10-487) arrived! along with it, the odoriko train (10-219) Thanks to MTP for the superb packing. These 2 trains left Japan on the 28/2 and arrived to my house yesterday (39 calendar days!) after a stop at the Portuguese customs. I went to the post office to collect them today (and pay taxes!) All i can say now is : Precious, my little precious... we wants more little precious, we wants them all! :) 1 Link to comment
Melandir
Today arrived my stock of Kato decoders EM13 and FL12 from MTP that will be used in the next months for the trains I have on pre-order Link to comment
ToniBabelony
Sold a few extra books and had funds for this train, which was on my list for a LONG time. As in a decade or so... Okay, MA brought this one out in 2007, but still. It has been a favourite of mine for longer than that. Now, how to hide this from my wife? xD 1 Link to comment

I couldn't resist this ultra cheap offer (¥12,950), even though it never served on the tracks of Keisei I'm most interested in... It only ran once to Ueno and served on the Shin-Keisei line from Matsudo to Kitahatsutomi only. The only Keisei owned tracks frequently used by this type (or any Hokuso train for that matter) are the Main Line between Keisei Takasago and Aoto, and the Oshiage line. Still, this is an iconic train which had to be part of my collection! The Hokusō Kaihatsu Railway logos on the sides are also perfect for the era I'm interested in (early 1990s). 1 Link to comment

Walking Keisei Encyclopaedia! Anyway great buy! Looks good! Now, we all have this problem, don't we? I'm luckier I guess, since I have an understanding wife that wouldn't scream at me for buying too many trains... Just need my own self-control though... Link to comment

Nick_Burman
Not new, but a batch of 4 locomotives returned from conversion to DCC, a DD13, Ohmi ED14 and Chichibu DeKi 300 and 200 (all M-A). All locos are working OK, but the conversions have all been botched, the Ohmi loco being the worst case - the guy who did the conversions didn't wire one of the headlights, alleging that there is no room to do so! The Chichibu locos have had their lighting systems all hacked (light conduit cut and shield removed), meaning that now light leaks into one of the cabs (the DeKi 200 is the worst case). Had the oaf followed the instructions and pictures that westfalen posted in the forum (I printed them out) this wouldn't have happened, but noooooooooo, the imbecile decided to do his way! I'm fed up, incompetence in Brazil is reaching rampant levels, you can't get a decent mason, plumber, electrician who knows their business...not even anyone who can wire a decoder properly! Cheeers NB (livid with anger) Edited April 14, 2014 by Nick_Burman Link to comment

Cheeers NB (livid with anger) Why don't you try to do it yourself? In the worse case scenario you burn the decoder, but at least you get it done properly. I for once wouldn't risk my precious trains at the hands of a non-modeler. The worst part is usually the soldering iron, but with a good one you will manage. I did some soldering on power leds and didn't burn any (i did burn a finger but that was entirely my fault, big hands in a small space) I use a replaceable tip soldering iron with a needle type tip. That way you apply solder only where needed, and you don't risk burning the electronics. Link to comment
Keikyu
Nice! The 9000 is an all time favourite of mine, since it serves good memories of my first time visit to Japan. Its weird front design is very appealing and still has that old Odakyu flair. The 1000 is also a favourite, since the motor sound is incredibly loud when accelerating. And you're right MA should make one. The GM kit version is just not good enough to justify itself. However, I also think a 4000 would be a smashing hit. This post was froma while ago but I wish there would be a pre-made Odakyu 2000. I have the 8 cars by Greenmax, and I only got it because I love the 2000. I hate building the models, they ended up with glue on some parts I didn't want it, and one of the power bogeys doesn't fit properly because the little slots on the model that hold it in place were worn down in the sealed kit. bad experience with Greenmax kits and I won't be touching another one again. Microace would give it a good try if they were to make one. I hope they do. I am curious on why Microace and Greenmax seem to do more private railways while Kato and Tomix focus more on JR and JNR. Is there like some reason for that? Link to comment

I'll buy myself a soldering station and try my hand at doing it myself. To be fair the DD13 came out OK, although I'll have to paint the inside of the hoods black, as the factory paint around the headlights is fairly thin and light leaks out through the plastic... Martijn Meerts
Actually.. Some MicroAce trains are really rather annoying to convert to DCC.. That Deki200 for example doesn't have a lot of room for a decoder, the circuit board takes up almost all the space :) I also noticed that some of the MicroAce shinkansen (and probably EMU/DMU) use bidirectional LEDs, which most decoders can't really work with.. I have found that motor decoders can be used to pilot them, I have found in this forum that someone used the TCS Z2, but it's a costly soution, the TCS Z2 cost about two times the TCS FL4 function decoder Edited April 16, 2014 by Melandir Link to comment

There are also some function only decoders that can do it, but they're usually not the cheapest either. On the upside, using decoders that can handle bipolar/bidirectional LEDs means you don't have to alter the light boards at all. Link to comment
