velotrain
we need to know how you got it into a .ufo file first. That is not a regular file extension for a photo. Sure it is - Unidentified Fotographic Object ;-) Link to comment

kvp
My only question is about the suburban station, which looks like a single track stop. Do you plan to extend it later to let's say two tracks or adding a small yard somewhere? Link to comment
gerryo
You are right, kvp, I've been thinking that myself. So I have done some mods. The tram track has bee moved right next to the edge on the long side of the layout, and the 4 curves now start just beyond the corners, at the red X's. This gives more space at the sub. station now having room for at least 1 siding shown at the large red arrows. This also leaves more space at the Overhead station as well. I might be able to put a siding on that side behind the station. My problem with the drawings is that within Cadrail it is much easier to work in inches rather than mm and the track objects for Kato are not useable. So here is the new drawing. gerryo
Yes, I know. Somehow, yesterday I was able to get a turned copy in. But today, I can't do it. I have turned the pic in three different files in my computer but it always comes out the same. One more try and I'm giving up. gerry Edited November 16, 2015 by gerryo Link to comment

gerryo
I received the starter set of Moving Bus System yesterday. On the back of the box is the most confusing instruction sheet I have ever seen. All in Japanese, and the pictures have no indication as to whether they are right side up or up side down. Wrote an E-Mail to Hobby Search, and received an answer this morning. "Sorry, no translations to English." So I now have a Moving Bus System for sale. This opens up some space, so now I have to think about what I will do with it. Maybe space for a small yard or complicated sidings for the commuter line. gerry Link to comment
gerryo
There is now enough space to put the Viaduct back in if I can keep it close enough to the outer edges. There is backboard on all the outside except across the front, right end, so this may look ok if all the backboards are painted blue, with a few grey clouds. The next trick will be to get the Tram track and the single Commuter track from the overhead station to the suburban station. Seems like they have to cross somewhere, but that seems impossible from where I sit. I'll think on it for a while. Anyway, I don't have all the backboards finished yet, so I'm getting a little ahead of myself. gerry Link to comment
kvp
Instructions: -put road pieces together -take off shell from motor -add battery -put shell back -turn bus on -place bus on road Extra: -play with the bus stop and the under road magnets for extra tricks like speed control Notes: -turn off bus after use -replace battery when empty Link to comment
cteno4
Gerry, Don't give up on the moving bus, miss pretty simple to figure out. Quite a few folks on the forum have them and can probably give you some assistance in how to use them. Jeff Link to comment
gerryo
This kind of reminds me of last year when I was black listed for asking questions. I can't afford more wasted funds. I have already purchased one small set and will try to make it work using your instructions, kvp. If I can't make it work with this, I will not be purchasing any more buses. I have also taken steps to make my layout smaller. Not sure just how much yet, but probably about half. This will make the operating area smaller, but the viewing area will be larger. gerry Link to comment
cteno4
Gerry ask away, and give folks some time to respond and I'm sure you will get your answers. They system is pretty simple. Main features are the stop/pause magnet pieces and the speed change up/down magnets. Other than that it's just putting in the battery and turning on/off on the bus and clicking your roadway together. Cheers Jeff Link to comment
katoftw
I really don't see the issue. My 7 year old can understand the instructional diagrams. Try again. Edited December 5, 2015 by katoftw Link to comment
JR 500系
Hi Gerry: Please ask away ~ What seems to be an issue here? Its quite simple like kvp san has suggested, basically remove all the pieces from the starter set of the moving bus system and click the tracks together. By the back of the box, I assume you are referring to this: On the left of the box are the contents, basically the bus model, the motorised chassis, the empty unpainted bus and the track pieces, including some small items like a steering stopper, speed adjustor magnet and the magnet holder for the bus stop. The bus stop has pieces like the roof and the signs to assemble the bus stop. Basically the tracks snap fit together easily as shown in the middle section, and there are small clippers to attach the bus stop piece to the road. These same clippers attach tomix tram tracks to the moving bus tracks too. The right side talks about the moving bus chassis, like how to remove the shell, the components of the bus model, how to adjust the speed of the bus using the magnets etc. When you just open the set, the chassis is standalone, so just open the painted bus model to remove the shell. Set the chassis pieces (one chassis piece and one piece of the interior of the bus with the seats) somewhere and take the empty shell of the bus to place on top of the moving bus chassis. Of course, before that you need to install the LR44 type batteries in. Unscrew the top most screw so that the latch holding the batteries swing open, to place in the batteries. After you do that, place the latch back and screw back on to secure. Then place the bus model body over the chassis. Press the white button below the bus. The rear wheels of the bus should start moving in 1 second. If the wheels doesn't start moving, check the batteries again, they might have been placed wrongly. With the rear wheels moving, place the bus on the track which you have assembled. Enjoy the moving bus! Bus stop comes with a STOP or a GO option, so the bus either stop at the bus stop or go through the bus stop. Whenever the bus hits an obstruction (i.e. cat, fingers, food etc) the wheels will stop moving. When that happens, just pick up the bus and press the white button below to get it moving again, then place it back onto the tracks. After you have enough fun, just remove the bus and press the white button to stop the moving wheels. Remove the shell again and unscrew to release the hatch and remove the batteries. Hope that helps! *Note: Will be keeping an eye out for the moving bus system starter set for sale too though `~~~ :P Edited December 5, 2015 by JR 500系 Link to comment
gerryo
katoftw; No doubt your 7 year old can understand the instructions because he has you to translate for him. I do not have that convenience. But never mind, I have other people on the net to help me as they have already offered. Thank you kvp, cten04, and JR500. One thing I can't figure out is where the magnets are placed. They obviously have an important purpose. Could someone help me with this? gerry Link to comment
gerryo
With your help, Guys, I think I can do this. I will need a lot more road, and bus stops, and buses, etc., etc., etc. Well you know how it goes. So, JR500, I may not have a starter set for sale after all. gerry Link to comment

No one in my household can understand Japanese visually well enough. The diagrams are very simplistic though which is why my 7yo can understand them. Sounds like you should give up and just be angry with the world like you always do after hitting a simple roadblock in your life. Edited December 6, 2015 by katoftw Link to comment

cteno4
Some good stuff on the moving bus system here to go over. Also search around YouTube some, lots of videos there on it. http://sumidacrossing.org/OtherElements/TomytecBusSystem/ http://forum.atlasrr.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=62707&whichpage=2 http://www.jnsforum.com/community/topic/8351-kato-tram-layout-moving-bus/ http://www.jnsforum.com/community/topic/6217-tomytec-bus-system/ Cheers, Jeff 1 Link to comment
JR 500系
One thing I can't figure out is where the magnets are placed. They obviously have an important purpose. Could someone help me with this? Gerry Ok let's see if I can help you on this Gerry... Please see the attached picture. By magnets I think you meant the 2 magnets that are included; mainly the speed magnet (Boxed in Black) and the bus stop magnets (boxed in Red). The speed magnets, (2 of them), are for controlling the speed of the bus. Apparently, there are 2 speeds for the bus, one slow and the other faster. Basically you can place the magnets on the road surface of anywhere, with the magnet face up. When the bus hits that magnet, it will switch to speed 2. When it again hits the other magnet, it will switch back to speed 1 and so on. The bus stop magnets, are well, for the bus stops. Place the magnet face up into the bus stop holder, and slide back the piece into the bus stop set. This magnet will be the one that will stop/ start the bus when it moves into the bus stops. (I don't know how this works too but it works amazingly well) Hoped that helps! 1 Link to comment

gerryo
I wonder if I can get a pic right side up this time. The double blue line around the inner rectangle will be the Tram line. The single green line outside of it will be the Moving Bus Road. The next line, just inside the outer double track, will be a commuter line. These three lines will vary depending on the height of the commuter line. They will curve in and out around the two mountains which will be in the corners. The bridge will cross the valley between the mountains, and there will be a river flowing down the valley which will make it necessary to have bridges on all the lines. At the front of the layout I have shown a long, narrow yard. Has anyone got any ideas about how to go about making this yard. It could be 300mm wide by 2400mm long. And this is my final plan. gerryo Edited December 14, 2015 by gerryo Link to comment
JR 500系
Interesting ~ 3 layers of different types of transport; tram, bus and train! It should work, but having a yard infront of the layout looks strange, but maybe that's just me ~ :P I saw you are using Diotown landscape, isn't that by Kato? Are you using the Kato road plates, together with the trams too? This might pose a problem, as I do not know if the tomytec moving bus system and mix well enough with the Kato road plates & tram tracks... It will work perfectly with Tomix system though; Tomix tram tracks + Tomytec moving bus system + Tomix or even Kato external commuter line... Link to comment
