I said to myself it wouldnt hurt to ask so i did and he agreed to just sell me pdf file of the condo for Yen350. Mardon Link to comment

macdon
wow! nice mountain and mountain tram! i take it the back is all open to get at your yard behind the station? what is the castle model? jeff Thanks Jeff! Layout is flush with the wall, but table has wheels so its easy to move if I need to get back there. Mountain has no back for maintenance, derailment or cleaning of tracks - there is now 2 commuter lines behind that mountain. Mountain is also fully detachable at anytime :) Osaka Castle is just a $10 3D puzzle I found in a bookstore. Made by Cubic Fun and they have other japanese structures. Mardon Link to comment
macdon
Just a few changes........ - moved the straight away section of the shinkansen line closer to edge of table. It was basically running in the middle of the layout and I cant design anything decent on the ground level due to hitting/dodging viaduct piers. - commuter line now has 2 dedicated lines. - the addition of the mountain will result to a revamp tram line. macdon
Here are some cubic fun 3d puzzles of japanese structures and one Germany train related diorama. -Im really not a big fan of these things before and the Osaka Castle was merely bought for building fun at a cheap price. When it was done, I thought I'd just place it in the layout for some fun pics. But as it turned out, it wasnt half bad at all! I thought to myself that with a little foliage here and there, it might pass off as a distant structure or inexpensive filler on a corner of a layout. These puzzles do take a few hours to assemble but all pieces are crisp and clean die-cut. It took me longer as I used Kurecolor pens for the white edges which greatly improves the overall look I think. Mardon 1 Link to comment
kvp
That german railway station with the southern pacific diesel locomotive is really strange. Other than that, the japanese sets are nice, but all are in different scales. Link to comment
macdon
That german railway station with the southern pacific diesel locomotive is really strange. Other than that, the japanese sets are nice, but all are in different scales. Thats true. My Osaka Castle is indeed undersize. Both the box and web indicates finish size for reference, so you can have a good estimate of size based on actual structure. Thou a lot of structures in our layouts are really compressed to a degree, so I think perception is key. The 3D Tokyo tower is 62cm high - around 1/3 size of the actual tower in n scale. But in our layouts, a 24" high structure is already imposing :) Next time i'll be in the mall, i'll check out that tower. Mardon Link to comment
JR 500系
Very nice work there Mardon! You make me envy and I feel ashamed of my own progress.... Thanks for the introduction for the models! Although they look good, the scale is really off... Like you mentioned, the castle looks too small and I bet the Kaminarimon gate will look too big! Nonetheless great option for feeling the scenery¬¬ Link to comment

Nonetheless great option for feeling the scenery¬¬ Hey Sammy......... and thanks for the nice words! Dont sell yourself short bud, as I recall your layout is full of life and activity. Just as long as you're happy with it, nothing else matters. In my case, I was doing a different project when an idea suddenly popped in my head - so the madness continued! I also took it as a sign of changing some things in my shinkansen layout as there were aspects that I wasnt too thrilled with. I could only hope that this time around will make it better than previous. Mardon Link to comment

macdon
Currently working on a new station facade as part of the layout revamp. Gutted the under belly of the tube station for possibly something a bit more substantial than just a station facade/mask. Will still go ahead with extending the shinkansen line just a bit and maintaining the V11, 14 and 16 pattern. Yellow is current and orange will be the extension. macdon
Working with acrylics this time - 3mm clear and 2mm white (diffuser). Glass details are printed on clear decal and adhered on the 3mm clear acrylic facade. Flooring and walls - 2mm white acrylic. Cantilevered overhang and columns are 1/8" thick sintra.
