Socimi
Sotetsu has some of the ugliest trains in my opinion: the 8000 and 9000 series. They would be nice looking trains except for the single headlight in the middle of the front. How they would look better? E233 (or Sotetsu 11000) style. And the much better E231-500 (or Sotetsu 10000) style. 1 Link to comment

miyakoji
That artist's rendering of the new Sotetsu model seems a bit out of proportion, too tall/narrow. I'll wait until I see the real thing. It'll probably be fine. Link to comment
Mudkip Orange
That new Soutetsu train... This looks like someone took a monorail train and added train wheels on the bottom. Link to comment
Densha
The Joshin Railway 1000 and 6000 series are not the ugliest train in existence, but they are certainly ugly: https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E4%B8%8A%E4%BF%A1%E9%9B%BB%E9%89%841000%E7%B3%BB%E9%9B%BB%E8%BB%8A https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E4%B8%8A%E4%BF%A1%E9%9B%BB%E9%89%846000%E7%B3%BB%E9%9B%BB%E8%BB%8A 1 Link to comment

velotrain
While looking into the Seibu, I found a new candidate. Talk about a cramped cab. Info here: http://www.hcn.zaq.ne.jp/cadzy500/HP1/chinsya-htm/seibu_b15/seibu_b15.htm Link to comment

velotrain
Speaking of which, here's a proto Seibu B-train shorty, although it's missing an end casting and some doors. 1 Link to comment
Suica
Aw, so that was the end of the Seibu Galaxy Express train. I didn't know that. Let's talk ugly again, though. How about the Škoda Type 109 E1? I think there's a good reason one of its many nicknames is "bathtub". Link to comment

Kiha66
Los Angles got some new locomotives recently, and i think they qualify for ugly trains. The artist rendering is awful, the proposed paint schemes aren't great, and the final product looks like someone melted one end of a boxcab and added lipstick. 2 Link to comment

Densha
I think the MS75 is the winner of the ugliest Belgian train contest though: https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Automotrice_AM75 Especially when you actually see them or have to ride them in person... oh my god. I've never been on a train that had that much graffiti on it and was as dirty as that MS75 was. Edited December 4, 2016 by Densha 1 Link to comment

Densha
That's the post-overhaul version, which I have yet to see or ride on in person. I don't really see the point in doing a midlife overhaul for these trains considering that they're already more than 40 years in service. Maybe that's the reason why they've only overhauled one or two sets yet... Anyway, as the last paragraph already indicated, all of these trains are already more than 40 years in service without any overhaul, a new coating of paint or any maintenance not related to keeping them somehow in service, so they're in a pretty deteriorated state. The SNCB should really order some new rolling stock and buy the AM75 a one-way ticket to the scrapyard. This is just a lost cause.
