ChrisV
Just wanted to share a few pics of my collection so far. My Tomix 300 series arrived today ( 1 of 2 sets coming ) so I decided to do a family shot as well.... Still experimenting with the camera so excuse the shots if their a bit ordinary. Just so you know, the 300 Shinkansen is displayed on Kato viaduct sections - there is no layout yet. >:( The rest of the fleet are in a glass cabinet with some Kato & Tomix platform pieces for show - track is Peco. Hope you like. :D Link to comment
Claude_Dreyfus
I like....a lot ;D That is a very impressive fleet you have...good to see you have managed to track your 300 series down.... Link to comment
Bernard
I thought I liked Shinkansens! :o Chris - I'll just add the same as everyone else, that is one nice roster and thanks for the photos!! For your layout, are you going to use Peco flex track? I really like this track but LHS don't carry it around here I usually have to order it online. Link to comment
Martijn Meerts
I'm scared to pull out all my shinkansen (let alone all my trains), since it'll remind me how much I spent on them ;) Link to comment

The Peco Flex Track I have is only a few pieces as i have more Uni-Track and Fleischmann than Peco. I'm hoping to stick with Uni-Track to keep it simple. ;) I still have a 400 Series Shinkansen in the mail. After that I'm looking at an E1, E2 and 200 to follow....but the director of finance is yet to comply :'( Link to comment
scott
Very nice collection -- what kind of layout are you planning for them? Link to comment
ChrisV
Very nice collection -- what kind of layout are you planning for them? The layout will be something based on an above ground station and some fast curves - lots of ideas but nothing concrete. :-\ Got enough stuff to start but just jostling for space at the moment.... scott
I think you're going to need at least *some* concrete to hold all that up. :) Link to comment
ChrisV
Ok - not Japanese but still sticking with the theme. ;D Here are a few their European counterparts...... Link to comment

Bernard
Chris - Are the 2 middle trains both ICE and are they both made by the same manufacture? Link to comment
ChrisV
Yes, the 2 middle ones are Fleischmann Ice Trains - the one on the right has a tilt mechanism. So far they are only 3 car sets as I have never bothered getting any additional cars but now i'm thinking otherwise.... These run as smooth as silk - like Kato . The Roundhouse TGV not so - sounds like a GM diesel....you'd expect a puff of smoke to come out from the top if you heard her start up. ::) The Eurostar is Kato. Link to comment

The ICE-T is not going to be cheap or even easy to expand!!! :o Hpofully to be able to have a complet train you don't need so many additional cars. Like 3 or 4. I wonder to, the other ICE is what, a 1 or a 2? Link to comment
mrpig
ChrisV I now officially hate you ;) you ICE-T owner. I hear it is a beautiful model. I settled for the Minitrix ICE-3 and was a little underwhelmed. Not as detailed as the Japanese models, no head/tail lights and it won't even go fast enough. It tops out at a scale 186km/h. Maybe one day the train gods will bless me with an ICE-T :D Did you get a good price? All the ones I found were rather expensive. Link to comment

I really like my Fleischmann ICE-T, I got the full set. Unfortunately, the interior lighting is a mess since the Fleischmann uses bulbs and thus slow down the train to almost stand still...well let just say it is slower than walking in N scale. The Minitrix ICE-3 is a lemon, I just send my to my Oversea train shop in Germany in hopes they can fix the item soon. Minitrix however, has two years warranty. As for the Katos, I like them all Eurostar, Thalys, POS, Euromed...and soon the Duplex. To get back to the topic, I also like my Kato Shinkansen 500 and 700T. But the 700T proves to be too long for its own good. I will post some new pictures when I get back from my month long vacation starting April 9. Link to comment
roomd
So far they are only 3 car sets as I have never bothered getting any additional cars but now i'm thinking otherwise.... Pardon me for a selling plug, but I have 4 ICE-T cars that would like to sell and that will complete your 3 for a whole train. Perfect condition, $149 for all 4, which is far better than you will find in stores. I know buying from someone you do not know may be a dangerous thing, but at least two active posters on this board, Shashinka and cteno4, personally know me. I am a member of JRM/DC like them. Please let me know if you are interested. Dmitry. Link to comment
roomd
I settled for the Minitrix ICE-3 and was a little underwhelmed. Not as detailed as the Japanese models, no head/tail lights. This one was intended as a starter kids model, which was reflected in its rather low price point (for a European train). Mine is a lemon as well, developed a clicking sound in its innards, which is very annoying, although does not preclude it from running quite smoothly so far. I was thinking of buying extra cars, but now that I have the excellent ICE-T from Fleischmann, the Minitrix stays in its box. I am not quite happy with my Minitrix ICE-1 as well, runs slowly and overheats the decoder all the time. Link to comment

Bernard
Martijn - Very nice roster! Alright, I can ask you this question because we are in the same boat. How would you compare the Tomix 800 to Kato 800? (I was surprised when I got my Tomix 800 to find out that it was made in China and not Japan.) Link to comment
Sushi Train
Most tomix stuff is made in china now, im not a fan of Tomix, I don't find a lot of them prototypical enough, like the stupid thing in between the carriages that moves ::) excuse my rant please :-X Link to comment
