E6系
Hello Mr JR500系 I agree with your sentiment. I see the Kato new releases and wonder just how many 165系 Shonan and 581系 expresses I already own? Probably nearly a dozen between the two systems. So how can I justify another? Link to comment
Welshbloke
Aha, they're re-releasing the Kumoha 12. Hardly surprising by the way it flew off the shelves. I am a bit surprised that it isn't being offered with a different number. People who just want a KuMoHa 12 wouldn't mind, and people who managed to get hold of one before would be tempted to buy another. My KuMoNi 13 is currently whirring around a layout using CV1 and CV3 on the kitchen table. Downloaded and printed a pile of track plans from the Kato site. As for 165 Series, I know how popular Shonan colours are in Japan (and that this is a different sub-series of 165, without the KuMoHa) but I can't help thinking "You've just done a 165?" Unless this is a re-tooled model with close couplers. Would quite like to see another batch of 153 Series using the existing tooling, purely as I have a pair of dummy MoHas sitting here waiting to extend one. Fenway Park
The C50 looks stunning. Hope they issue other versions in the future. The Suha 32 coach set plus heating car will be issued next week. I have ordered one even though the heating car did not run in Kyushu but it's my railway. Link to comment

1954G
I'll probably buy the Akatsuki blue train, since it's a mid-1980s formation that no other manufacturer has produced yet in N scale. An EF65 1000, due to be re-released concurrently, or an old-school EF30 (in stock at most shops) would look great hauling it. A great site with photos of various locomotives that hauled the Akatsuki: http://akebonoroman.blog3.fc2.com/blog-entry-15.html Edited March 10, 2016 by 1954G Link to comment

katoftw
The 285 is the first thing Kato has released that has got me excited in a year. How does these newer 10-1332/33 relate to the older 10-594/95 sets? I read nothing about changes? Or just time for a price increase, so new stock number? JR 500系
Guys I need some help... We know the Sunrise Express is going to be re-released soon, in a newer, LED version. It seems that there are also parts for this set, as per their Kato page and also HS extensive page of Kato spares... My question is, is there a part that actually has the headlight/ tail light assembly that we can get? This way, perhaps we can change the older version model with the new LED lights assembly? Perfectly with the part numbers for the correct part, so that it can be easily pre-ordered while reservations are still open. I would definitely wanna change my older model lights... Thanks in advance for any information on this! Link to comment
railsquid
Not sure about that model, but I did find drop-in replacement LED parts for my Kato Eurostar recently. Link to comment
Kamome
You'll have to keep checking the Kato website nearer to release as they tend to add an Assy part PDF to the product information. HS usually have the Assy part info on their pre-orders pretty punctually too. I doubt Kato will remould the interior to allow newer parts to be interchangeable on older versions. The new LED lighting kit for the E26 Cassiopeia coaches are well designed to fit into the older style bulb mounts for the old lighting kit. Looks like the 285系 coach lighting has had a similar update. Link to comment

ToniBabelony
I think Kato may be laying down the hammer, smelling the demise of MicroAce and the saturation on the market of classic JNR models. The HB-E300 and the Hokkaidō 781 Series (in a lesser degree) are definitely unexpected announcements! 1 Link to comment

The HB-E300 and the Hokkaidō 781 Series (in a lesser degree) are definitely unexpected announcements!I agree. The H5 shocked me since I could see tomix making that but kato usually doesn't do anything like that. Also a re-release of 500 series? But it looks like only two 4 car sets and a SD set with track and such. Kodama organization possibly? Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S6 using Tapatalk Link to comment

katoftw
The H5 isn't shocking. Tomix and KAto both have the E5. So not really big news a H5 is on the way. Just surprising Kato has taken this long to get one out. The HB-E300 is the big surprise. Considering MicroAce's version has been on pre-order for almost 4 years and would have been 5,000 yen more pre 2015 price jumps. KAto have snagged a winning there. And it will lead onto other sets and consist being available in the future. The 500 series Nozomi shinkansen sets are just the regular shinkansen sets previously been available. They must sell these by the truck load. Cos they are always being re-released. I just wish Kato would release a modern 8 car Kodoma set. Edited April 6, 2016 by katoftw Link to comment
JR 500系
Ahah! Finally Kato took the H5. No surprise here really, just a matter of time... Tomix had the upper hand there with their release being earlier than the official launch~ The Resort Shirakame is a BIG welcome. More so since MA just cancelled theirs! More on this in the MA thread... The 500 series Nozomi must have been a really big hit, but weird just a 4 car basic 10-510 and 4 car add-on 10-511 and missing the 8-car 10-512. 10-510 500系新幹線「のぞみ」 基本(4両) ¥ 11,200+税 10-511 500系新幹線「のぞみ」 増結(4両) ¥ 8,000+税 10-512 500系新幹線「のぞみ」 増結(8両) ¥ 13,000+税 Does that mean to get a full 16 car you need a 4-car basic and 3 sets of 4-car add on? Then you will have 4 pantographs in a 16 car train... Looks strange... The 289 series Kuroshio is VERY welcomed, although technically it looks no different from a 683 Thunderbird except for a different coloured stripe... 289 Kuroshio (Green Stripe) 683 Thunderbird (Blue Stripe) Edited April 6, 2016 by JR 500系 Link to comment
