Kamome
Can I now sell my blue switches and controllers for exorbitant prices and add the word “Rare” to the posting? Actually the black makes more sense to look less toy-like but it does make the silver parts look cheap. I liked the blue. I wonder whether it was a conscious decision or if it comes down to something like black plastic pellets being cheaper than blue. A deep green would be more in keeping with train cabs and their current house colours. Link to comment
bc6
No one mentioned the re-released 104+107 2 set Koki? Link to comment
Kamome
Koki 104/107 without JRF marks is a 10 car set. The 2 car set is Koki 104s without JRF marks. Link to comment
Das Steinkopf
With regards to the new KoKi 104's they will be using new tooling that finally includes the steps on the platform end, I suspect they will more than likely use the new KoKi 105 bodies, this has been one of the biggest bones of contention with the original KoKi 104 models offered by Kato, the only way to fix the original KoKi's was to purchase the brass steps made by RLF which are impossible to get a hold of. 2 Link to comment

Pity, they could easily have used USB PD tech to get up to 12v from a (widely available) power bank or mains charger. I will still be after one though! Also liking the look of the Christmas train. Yes it's silly but it looks fun, and Japanese prices are rather more sensible than what I'm seeing quoted elsewhere. Edited October 7 by Welshbloke Link to comment
cteno4
I just got a little buck up board to play with little pwm boards so that I could run smaller trains with 5v battery pack and set the max voltage so kids could run the train and not fly them off the track. All of about $3 in parts for adjustable buck up board and pwm! I’m curious to see how long a decent 5v backup pack will run a kiha or two. Would be simpler than having wart and the 120v battery pack. The new little Kato is nicely put together and perfect for pocket trains on their mini module system. Reasonably priced. jeff Link to comment

The power bank I used is one of those generic ones with a dubious claim of its capacity, but the charge indicator hadn't dropped far after that. I'd expect a day's exhibition running with a lower current draw motor and a more reputable power bank (say Belkin or Anker). Link to comment
cteno4
@Welshbloke that’s good to hear. I hope to give a little pwm worh a buck up board on a hefty 5v pack I have at a show next month and see how it does. Right now we are using good old tech dual throttle and 120v lipo powerpack, but if it would work with smaller 5v and smaller power pack then may be worth just ditching the 120v all together! Fair amount of loss bumping up to 120vac then rectifying and bring down to 120vdc… I could just make a mini dual pwm power pack as the big tech dual is a bit awkward to hide now and then. Could even just build it into a module! cheers, jeff Link to comment
Burtos
Does anyone know if the kato 20-220 /221 no4 points are being re realised this month. Need quite a few, but seem to be thin on the ground, than noticed 1999.com had a notification on their website about it Link to comment
