KenS
third rail isn't necessarily in the subway. although they call alot of the osaka municiple lines subways where a large amount is above ground. True. A portion of my "subway" line is above ground (below my elevated viaduct station). It drew inspiration from one of Tokyo's two third-rail systems (the Marunouchi at Ochanomizu station). I'd originally thought about hand-building some third-rail for this, or perhaps just making it an overhead-wired line, but it will be much easier to use these parts, and there are several places where the track is visible and the addition of third-rail will improve the look. keitaro
I'm hoping that the release of third rail track pieces will follow with some GM releases of some of osaka's thirdrail models. 23, 20, 1100, 1200 to name a few would be great I'd really like the 30 http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/6/65/Osaka_subway_30_series_3520_c_1987.jpg I originally wanted to do osaka subways but since only a limited few long out of stock existed i started acquiring tokyo ones. Plus there only tomytech and not full blown models. Link to comment
Densha
The Kiha54 is getting a re-release. It seems to be a renewed product. http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10203970 http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10203971 I may be getting it, if the budget allows to do so. The original product looks fairly good as well if I compare it to pictures of other Greenmax models. I don't really understand the idea behind the "express specification". Link to comment

ToniBabelony
I just noticed (a bit belated) that Greenmax is releasing the first official Chiba Express Electric Railway train model EVER! Okay, apart from any obscure release from some small company that is... The model is a 3150 Type that ran from 1996 to 1998 and were leased from Keisei. Numbers were 3157 and 3158 for each 4-car set. If I didn't had to save money to actually go to Japan, this would have been a no-brainer for me... Maybe I can get a good 2nd-hand one there for half the price eventually. It's pretty rare to see a model from a company that operated only from 1994 to 1998. The company had four different types of train running though: Keikyu 1000 (1992-1994, 2 sets), Keisei 3050 (1994-1996, 2 sets), 3100 (1996-1998, 1 set) and 3150 (1996-1998, 2 sets) Types. Half of the trains leased from Keisei were scrapped after Chiba Express was abolished in 1998. Anyway, I wrote something about this company about a year ago on my slumbering blog: http://lasertrain.blogspot.nl/2011/07/keisei-chihara-line.html Link to comment

It's a nice and interesting livery, since it's the colour-inverted version from the original Keisei unit. Looks almost like a mis-print, but isn't actually. Link to comment
Mudkip Orange
Just noticed on HS that GM is re-releasing a couple of Keihan sets as completed models. Previously these were "some assembly required." The 9000 series is available in the new (dark green and white) scheme and the 6000 series is available in the old (SP&S lookalike) scheme. As I have had a GM 6000 series which has been sitting unassembled in a box for something like six years now, I do believe I'm just going plunk for the assembled version and ebay the one I never put together. Splendid. Link to comment
ToniBabelony
With all the Tokyu 1000 Series (and colleagues) coming out nowadays from Greenmax, this one had to be included as well: Ueda Railway 1000 Series. A 2-car set with double single-arm pantographs on the motor car. http://www.greenmax.co.jp/Product/GM4451_uedadentetsu_1000kei.htm I'm not sure if I like this train or not, since the two pantographs really look a bit odd to me. I'd rather go for the 3-car version for the Tokyu Tamagawa/Ikegami lines for that matter. Link to comment

Does any of you know the difference between both models? I can't find any on the photos HS included and the description doesn't mention any difference except the stations where between it is used and car number, may this be the difference they mean? Densha
Posting this here seems to be the most appropriate I think: http://www.gm-store.co.jp/blog/blog01/ It's the official GreenMax blog about new products. May be interesting for some people to take a look at the upcoming stuff. Link to comment

cteno4
its here http://www.jnsforum.com/community/topic/1508-painted-trains/page-6?hl=%20painted%20%20trains the search results seem to be harder to find stuff than the old forum for some reason. i think the old one defaulted to a search term weight list. if i dont see something in the first screen now i usually try doing replies sort if i think its an old one with a lot of replies. it defaults to last posted to so if its older its buried. jeff Link to comment
Densha
Yeah, I simply searched for "painted trains" and with the old software it turned up as the first hit between some others. I think the new software searches through all posts and titles while the older did search in topic titles. I can't find such an option in the search menu. Link to comment
cteno4
If you go into the advanced search you can search just titles if you want. problem is the results dont seem to be able to have them sorted by just the search term weight alone. you can sort results by last updated time, title, replies and views, but not just number of hits in a thread. jeff Link to comment

Mudkip Orange
Another day, another GM release that's gone the morning it's out. Sold out at HS, not in stock at PlazaJapan, bigman, Popondetta, or tokyo-rail. Link to comment
bill937ca
The HS blog has a Japanese language article on new Greenmax structures including a eight story Toyoko Inn hotel, pre-painted sidewalks, single track viaduct, inclines and pillars. http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/blog/1306132 Link to comment
cteno4
Nice building. wonder what the price point on this guy will be? interesting they are going to prepainted, guess tomytec really got a large amount of their business from folks who did not want to paint their structures so they are battling back! will be interesting to see how the price points come out on the prepainted versions. jeff Link to comment
Darklighter
Nice building. wonder what the price point on this guy will be? 4980 Yen (first image, bottom right corner ;) ) Link to comment
JR 500系
Quite a nice building, couldn't get a closer look, but first feeling that the facade looks kinda wierd? Perhaps the colours and the texture... Good idea for GreenMax to come out with pre-painted models! Some of their models are great, but people hesitate buying them because they require painting.. I for one is very unconfident of my painting skills and wouldn't bear risking to paint them.. Suddenly had a thought of using the viaducts as vehicular ones instead of rails since thei do not come with a rail... But it's probably too narrow for a dual carriage way vehicular viaduct...
