I think collecting the various trains is part of the nature of the beast . Anyway I love it and I've got something tangible to show for my money 1 Link to comment

I am guessing we are at the same red dot? haha ~ Well, here's my solution: My wall of trains ~~ Which reminds me... to take a new photo... The Keihan 8000 and the LSE are no longer around, and replacing them are the 800 series and E231-500 Sumiko Gurashi Yamanote line... And the Genbi has filled up that gap... 9 1 Link to comment

Haha ~ The trick is all about scheduling the deliveries, hiding the bookcases and ensuring the cabinet always have enough space to hide them in (which kinda explains why I always have to sell some of my trains...) Also, never say no to clothes and shoes, and keep the excel spreadsheet hidden, locked and password-ed. 🙂 9 minutes ago, gavino200 said: I think my son would take Dad's little kingdom and turn it into an Empire. Even if want to, rather give away to a museum for collection. After all, it contains a piece of history behind them. BTW BEAUTIFUL COLLECTION! Lol I would probably have to get approval to install one of these. That's a good point, but problem is I haven't gotten any juniors yet... 😞 Letting them know of the actual cost is like a double edged sword... A really dangerous one. Cause they might just go tell mama about it! 😫 Giving to a museum is interesting, you do know that we are having a Railway Museum soon here in our little red dot? 🙂 Thanks! Yes I think an approval is required ~ I can pass you the contact for the contractor if you get approval (hopefully soon)! It's an amazing centre piece in my apartment and I just love staring at it! I have also been getting a bit interested in JR Tokai lately, but I guess I shouldn't start collecting trains from yet another region. 😅 I was wondering which way to go for a while with complementing my JRF fleet and had looked at JR West as well as JR East, in the end I took the safe path in going for JR Tokai as there is nothing near the insane variations with rolling stock that you get with the other two, the fact that all of the freight locomotives I have travel through JR Tokai territory helped a lot with the decision. Also JR Tokai has a great mix of lines from major arterial routes such as the Chuo and Tokkaido Honsen through urban landscapes to the stunning rural scenery of the Takayama Honsen and the Iida-sen, having spent a bit of time travelling in that region has also helped reinforce my liking of this railway. Sure thing! However still not approved yet. Need more time to convince. Anyway I was also thinking of doing a "stack up" floor, where the trains run below. The floor would be made of thick glass panels, like those raise up panels in computer labs etc. so can run the train below, would be a nice piece for living room etc? Link to comment
Densha
Really nice collection, @JR 500系. Especially the Kintetsu limited express collection you have is very nice. I have lately also gotten a bit interested in the Kintetsu Nagoya/Ise region after all. The models are way too expensive for me to start up a collection though. 53 minutes ago, JR 500系 said: MicroAce A7887 Kiha-32 Tetsudo Hobby Train Tomix 9407 KIHA 40-2000 Coach (West Japan Railway Renewaled Design/Takaoka Area Color) (T) Tomix 5594 Car Loaded Camera System (E233-3000 Series) 3-Cars + 10-1269 E233-3000 add-on 2 car set The Tetsudo Hobby Train is not a private railway train, but a JR Shikoku local commuter train. Tomix 9407 and 5594 are local commuter trains as well, and not trams. You might also want to combine your JR Local/Suburban/Commuter/Rapid trains into one category, as most of these trains are used interchangeably for various services. For example, JR West 227 series in local train service or JR Kyushu KiHa 200 on rapid services etc. 41 minutes ago, Das Steinkopf said: I was wondering which way to go for a while with complementing my JRF fleet and had looked at JR West as well as JR East, in the end I took the safe path in going for JR Tokai as there is nothing near the insane variations with rolling stock that you get with the other two, the fact that all of the freight locomotives I have travel through JR Tokai territory helped a lot with the decision. Yeah, JR Tokai has pretty standardized rolling stock. That's part of what got me interested in them lately. I have spent so much time looking at the sheer variety of other Japanese railway companies that I got sort of exhausted by it. And you can still pretty much mix up 211/213/311/313 series in all kinds of formations.! Link to comment

I bought our first DC loop of track and an old Trix steam engine when he was just three. It's been steadily growing since then. He also has HO trains that he sets up on the floor and does without me. And we have Lego trains running through the house. Hurry up, create a mini-JR 500, and begin indoctrinating immediately! Edited July 9, 2018 by gavino200 Link to comment

Originally I was planning on building something based on the Iida-sen but with the expansion of my JRF fleet I also decided to expand the JR Tokai fleet, rolling stock wise I am getting closer to completion of my roster which is based from 2012 to current day, that’s if such a thing is possible. I have a 313-3000 Series on preorder which will round out my Iida-sen fleet, I also have powered 211-5000 Series LL formation on preoder which will run as a 3 car set, there is also an unpowered 211-5000 Series LL formation that will run with the 313-2300 Series. The only things missing from my wanted list are currently not available, 311 Series, 119-5300 Series, 119-5000 Series and maybe a Kiha 11-300 with reinforced skirting, I might also be tempted to get a 383 Series Wide View Shinano. 1 Link to comment

The model is based on when they were first introduced into service, later on the front skirting was reinforced by adding about another 15-20cm below it. The Kiha 11-300’s are the only units left in JR Tokai service with 4 out of the original 6 left, with the Kiha 11-0’s they got retired around 2012 and after that they ended up being shipped to Burma, the other variants ended up going to third sector operators. Nope it's never too late to start! Probably start with this set at quite a nice price I try to get only one private rail in each region, so for the Kanto, it was between Odakyu and Tobu (but I prefer the romance cars over the spacia) and for the Kansai, it was between Kintetsu & Hankyu, but Kintetsu had such a lovely fleet of trains such as the Shimakaze and Ise-Shima Liner and Urban Liner etc. so the choice was clear ~~ 21 hours ago, Densha said: The Tetsudo Hobby Train is not a private railway train, but a JR Shikoku local commuter train. Thanks for reading so in depth into my roster! I was surprised about this too, but I did a Shikoku trip in 2016 with a Seishun 18 Kippu and the Tetsudo Hobby Train actually turned out be used for normal local train services on the Yodo Line. Coincidentally, the Yodo Line local train I took was exactly one of these services! Link to comment
paolo
I recently started building my collection, alla KATO (because it's easier to DDC them). It's quite small for now, and I plan to put all these trians in my future layout: - 10-857, 10-858, 10-859: E5 series Shinkansen Hayabusa - 10-1174, 10-1175: N700A series Shinkansen Nozomi - 10-1221, 10-1222: E7/W7 series Hokuriku Shinkansen Kagayaki - 10-1136: E6 series Komachi mini-Shinkansen - 10-1374: H5 series Hokkaido Shinkansen Hayabusa - 10-1397: E657 series Hitachi/Tokiwa - 10-1473: E233 series Chuo Line - 10-1468, 10-1469: E235 series Yamanote Line Here's a video with all these trains running: My KATO N-scale Japanese trains collection 6 Link to comment
JR 500系
Interesting introduction video! Nice! Thanks for sharing! Another notable difference between the E5 and the H5 is the logo... The E5 is the pedigree Falcon, the H5 is the shape of Hokkaido island.. 🙂 2 1 Link to comment
