Even the trailer has the one piece under frame. it would have been much nicer to have better detail on the trailer. I am going to try and lower the floor when mine arrive in June, maybe try a truck mounted motor on the end with the blanked out windows for the bathroom, so I can have an interior in the rest of the car. :) It often helps a lot to paint the "gaps" between the various appliances [almost] black: Edited March 29, 2018 by MichiK 2 2 Link to comment

Especially the lack of an interior with such large windows like on the Type 36 and Kiha120. Link to comment
serotta1972
Got some new additions - my EH's Locomotives, all Kato. New to me are the EH10 and EH500 (Kato 3037). 6 Link to comment

Awesome! How do you like the EH10 so far? I haven't seen much in the way of reviews on it, but what's your take so far? 1 Link to comment
serotta1972
I had to give it a couple of nudges to get it running and once it did and after a few minutes it ran great. This EH10 is pretty old, it's in the blue and silver lining case so has got to be early 90's or older. It definitely stands out with its black and yellow stripe livery. This is the 3005 model. serotta1972
Trains from my 1992 Kato Catalog - just out of high school and bought my first Kato Train, the Bullet Train. I got the 253 while I was in college and just recently got the rest which I have wanted for years. These models rival anything that is out today as these were Kato's premium models with their version of a knuckle coupler and close coupling, excellent detailing and factory installed interior lighting on all of them except for the Series 0. It's amazing that these models are over 20 years old. 6 Link to comment

(Mind you I'm still amazed to realize the 1990s were 2 decades ago) 2 2 Link to comment

I m a bit late to the show here sam so appologies for that but I ve got to tell you that juniors simple green cloth and ovals of track were an inspiration to me deciding on simple loops for my revised track plan. For train running and viewing it s perfect and the green cloth certainly makes them look 1000 times better👍😀 3 Link to comment

Just running trains has brought me a lot more joy then trying to make tricky track arrangements, and having a nice clean place to run them makes it much less stressful as well. 3 Link to comment
Pauljag900
Before my surgery I was off work fo quite a while and had lots of spare time😂😂 I came up with some wonderful layout plans but there was always a reason why it would nt work for me and I kept coming back to the loops👍👍😀 1 Link to comment

I suspect that when I start my "temporary" layout later this Spring, once I get all my side jobs and Spring jobs done, I will end up with a few concentric loops or almost loops, with some sidings off each as a "yard". A double track for Shinkansen and a double track for commuters / freight. Makes it easy to run and play with the trains, and also good at practicing DCC wiring for zones etc. 2 Link to comment
Pauljag900
Well I was very apprehensive about the loops at first but now it’s up and running I really like what I can see from where I sit,I see all the trains all the way around and to be honest when all 8 are running you tend to forget it s just loops. I will eventually have a really large mountain at the back which will cover all 8 tracks so will break it up slightly. It will also be home to the shrine, village and farm modules that I removed from the old layout. 3 1 Link to comment
serotta1972
Not too long ago, I told myself I would not get into Japanese Freight and this Koki stuff. A couple of moments of weakness and now I have a nice fleet of freight cars and a collection of Kokis and containers. And here are a couple of new additions. 5 Link to comment

We just rent a house (planning on building in 2020 on a plot we bought). So the night before last I was cleaning up the basement of my boxes of new arrivals (since Jan) and putting things all nicely away, as the property manager wanted to do a house inspection (turns out they were just following up on some stuff from last year that needed to be corrected but I thought it was a PITA full on inspection -- which they have only done once in 10 years prior, last year). I have a bunch of those plastic bins with the folding tops that interlock. I filled one up with KoKi wagons and containers (all still in their packaging as I store things in their original packaging so it is not quite as much as it sounds like). KoKi and corresponding containers can be an addiction in and of themselves. Edited April 15, 2018 by chadbag 2 Link to comment

I ve seen guys on here asking a few tentative questions then the next thing they re posting pictures of boxes and boxes of stuff they ve bought!, and I m as bad as anyone I m afraid,ha ha,😀😀👍👍👍And no way am I suggesting it’s a bad thing, far from it ha ha Link to comment

serotta1972
Had the opportunity to buy another E259, now I get to replicate the 6+6 Narita Express - the first Japanese train I rode. :) 1 1 Link to comment
katoftw
Oh nice. I wouldn't mind one day tracking down the older Kato 6 car set so to have different running numbers to make a 12 car Narita to Tokyo consist. 1 Link to comment
serotta1972
Oh man, why did you have to mention the car numbers - these are 2 of the same sets. I won't look so closely at the running numbers. :) 1 1 Link to comment
