chadbag
While not being exclusive to Osaka area, that is what we are basing our train fleet on, kind of, more or less, maybe... We are not trying to be super prototypical. Current (and in route) trains (this is kind of getting out of hand): Shinkansen Kato 800 Tsubame 6 car. I like the looks of this and we road a real 800 back when they were new on Kyushu. W7 6 car (need the other 6). We rode an E7, which except for the company logo on the side, is the same as a W7. I chose the W7 as this will eventually, mid-century, go from Osaka to Tokyo on a round-about way through Hokuriku area on the Hokuriku Shinkansen. Now they go from Tokyo to Kanazawa. Looks cool. Tomix N700-8000 Kyushu -- 8 cars. (I wanted this livery and Kato does not make an N700 series with it). This was the first N700 I ever rode, a Sakura, when the N700 was relatively new and only Nozomi trains had them on JR Central, and I could not ride those with our JR Pass. But the JR Kyushu/JR West run N700 Sakura we could ride. 100 Kodama JR West Green Stripe. Tomix 92823 Other Passenger/Commuter (All Kato) JR 321 Kobe/Kyoto Line (3 cars -- trying to find the 10-1122 set that completes this). This is the line we take from my MIL's at Tachibana to get into Osaka. JR 225-100 Rapid Service (used on Kobe/Kyoto line I believe). 10 cars. When we get a Rapid service train to or from Amagasaki this is the one (or a 223). JR 223-2000 Rapid Service (also used on the Kobe line and affiliated lines). 8 Cars. Hankyu 9300 (8 cars IIRC). We sometimes take Hankyu to Umeda. And it looks cool. E231-500 Yamanote line -- Sumikko Gurashi livery (our non-Osaka line -- for my daughter the Sumikko Gurashi fan). Series 683 Thunderbird with expansions (10-1391 / 10-1392 -- 6 + 3 cars). We rode this one and my son bought the expansion set, not realizing it was only cars, so I ended up getting it from Japan for my son's birthday. Series 683 Thunderbird (10-482 -- 6 car set). This is an older version, non DCC ready (though it does not look hard), with older Thunderbird livery. This was advertised used on eBay as a 10-1391, which is what I wanted. But in actuality it was the older Thunderbird. The guy's pictures showed the older part number when showing the case but I had not noticed it and it was advertised as the newer one. I decided to keep it and just order the newer one sent over from Japan. So we have 2 different versions of the Thunderbird. Freight (Kato) EF210-100 EF64-1000 (x2 -- two different liveries. One is model 3024-1, the other is 3023-4) EF510-500 Kato 3065-3. EF510-0 Kato 3059. Freight (Tomix) EF210-100 Various Koki 107/106, 5500 and 50000 series cars (majority are Kato but also Tomix). A couple random other freight cars (Tomix). I know all these are not necessarily period correct with each other, but at the moment I don't care. This is a "fun" train. I also have various containers to put on them, including some international branded 20 and 40 foot ISOs as well as a bunch of various Japan domestic 19/20 class plus the older ones, slightly smaller, for the 5500 series (came together in a set). My reading says that the international branded ISOs are rare but seen in Japan occasionally, and again, this is a fun train setup, not a 100% accurate historical prototype. Various tank cars (older JNR types). Tomix. Non-Japanese Locomotives: HobbyTrain H2835 DB BR110 locomotive. This is a German Class 110 locomotive in the red livery. Fleischmann 7375 DB BR103 express locomotive. This is the German class 103 express locomotive in the beige/red livery used for things like TEE, IC, and other express trains. There is at least one of them supposedly still in use though it is an older locomotive. This is an older Fleischmann (2003?) and I got it on eBay. Fleischmann 7375 DB BR 103 express locomotive. Another one as above in beige/red, but with a different running number. Fleischmann 7377 BR103 express locomotive. Same as the above except this one is the Orientrot (all red) color of the early 90s. Neither of these are the later models with the DCC NEM 651 socket. Fleischmann 7237 BR218 diesel locomotive. Also in Orientrot and without the NEM 651 socket. Fleischmann 931702 DB BR120. German Class 120 in red. This is not normally sold separately but is taken from a starter set. At least one store breaks the start sets open and sells the engines and cars separately for good prices. Fleischmann 734101 DB E41 in the steel blue (early) livery. Fleischmann 733602 DB E10 1239 Rheingold. Museum livery. Fleischmann 7380 DB BR151 Heavy freight locomotive. Green. Fleischmann 7381 DB BR151 Heavy freight locomotive. Beige/Green. Arnold DB BR111 Lufthansa Express Fleischmann DB BR212 Diesel locomotive. Red livery. (From the color it looks to be Orientrot). Not sure the Fleischmann number on this. On order: HobbyTrain H2834 DB BR110. This is a German Class 110 in the beige/blue livery. Cars: Passenger Fleischmann 819003 DB Beige/turquoise baggage car Fleischmann 864103 DB beige/turquoise 1st class car Fleischmann 864203 DB beige/turquoise 1st/2nd class car Fleischmann 864305 DB beige/turquoise 2nd class car Fleischmann 811201 DB beige/red restaurant car (different layout from Fleischmann 8166) Fleischmann 8166 DB beige/red restaurant car (used) Fleischmann 8193 DB beige/turquoise QiockPicc Buffet Car (used) 2x Arnold prototype Speisewagen. Supposedly a single built in the 90s. (used) (I'll run it with Popfarben or 90s IC cars when I have some more) (Not sure how I ended up with more than 1 :) ) Fleischmann 8185K DB Popfarben 1st class wagon. (Used) Fleischmann 8111 listed cars -- two different model generations of Blue DB 1st class cars. Used Fleischmann 814485 SNCB Eurofima 1st class car. Fleischmann 863501 DB Express Train Mail Car (Era III) (Schnellzug) Fleischmann 863101 DB Express Train 1st Class Car (Era III) (Schnellzug) Fleischmann 863003 DB Baggage Coach Type Due941 (Era III) Fleischmann 867502 DB Express Train 1st Class (Era III) (Eilzug) Fleischmann 867602 DB Express Train 1st/2nd Class Car (Era III) (Eilzug) Freight Fleischmann 828325 DB Goods wagon type Eaos 106 (Era V) Brawa set of 4 DR passenger cars On order: bunch of other Fleischmann DB cars and an Arnold DB car or 2 in passenger A bunch of Fleischmann and HobbyTrain Freight cars of Era III -- V/VI Brawa freight cars I am sure more will come, but this will have to do for a good while. I want to stay married! Edited March 6, 2018 by chadbag 2 Link to comment

keiichi77
Love the Kiha 120, I have a pair from the Sanko line on order but I wish Tomix did more to hide the motor so they could have an interior, same goes for the under carriage equipment, everything is one big blob to hide the motor. Even the trailer has the one piece under frame. it would have been much nicer to have better detail on the trailer. I am going to try and lower the floor when mine arrive in June, maybe try a truck mounted motor on the end with the blanked out windows for the bathroom, so I can have an interior in the rest of the car. :) 1 Link to comment
