bill937ca
Does any of you know where the Keifuku Electric Railroad where the Hodeha 260 from The Railway Collection Vol.17 is located? There is a Keifuku railway in Kyoto prefecture, but the description is talking about the Fukui prefecture. I can't find anything about a Keifuku railway in Fukui, is this the correct railway I am searching for? In other words, does it exist? It did exist and had two bad crashes. That line is now the Echizen Railway. Photos of the old Keifuku Electric in Fukui. miyakoji
Interesting link, Bill, I had no idea about those crashes. Densha, I see some information about some rolling stock designated HODEHA on the Japanese wikipedia page about Keifuku Electric Railroad, but not specifically a HODEHA 260 series. It's in the section about the Fukui branch company. Link to comment
Densha
Now I understand that the Kyoto-based Keifuku is the same company as that operated in Fukui. That's a weird story on the Echizen Railway page history part. That lead to me browsing on the Fukui Railway page, and finding this interesting train (with Jakobs bogies) that rides on large street sections with tram-like stops. According to wikipedia: Moha 261 series: 261-263Original Keio DeHa 2400 series. Scrapped in 1976. The Keio DeHa 2400 is also included in Vol.17, interesting to know. Link to comment

linkey
Wondering if Tomix will bring out a demolition set out so you can create a scrapping yard for the 300 and the E1 shinkansens as well to the other retired rollingstock? Link to comment

JR 500系
Not exactly a new release, but a re-lease of something so very wierd to me: http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10039313 I mean, i find it really really amazed to see this in stock! Besides, that shouldnt the re-release set 92823 be the one that should be re-stocked? I'm really confused.... AND REALLY TEMPTED! Link to comment
Densha
They probably found some really old stock somewhere and put it on sale. There's a huge chance they have just one set available or something. Personally I wouldn't get such an old model that already has had a renewal. Link to comment
JR 500系
Hi Densaha! Wierd thing is, it's not just that... Featuring: Nissan Teana (Luxury car type! I'm missing this type of cars for my layout and the previous car collection 10 is gone..) Toyota Crown (Another Luxury car type! With taxi and a patrol car!) Toyota Estima (MPV car type! Another car type that i'm missing for my layout and the previous car collection 8 is long gone..) Toyota Alphand (Very Large MPV! Same length as the Kato Hiace van!) I'm thinking this is a very good series! Combination of the previous car collection 8 and 10 which is VERY hard to find now.. (Check Yahoo Auctions, their prices are not easy to swallow...) I have already pre-ordered mine ~ (Perhaps one box is not enough??) 1 Link to comment
ToniBabelony
Greenmax AND Tomytec releasing Ueda Dentetsu trains at virtually the same time? http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10209276 (7200 Series with round windows) Very tempting, since I really love the old 18m Tokyu cars... Honestly, now I'm patiently waiting for Tomytec to release variations of the Keio 3000 Series, if ever... Now of that train I'd buy an entire fleet. 1 Link to comment

cteno4
Last JRM show I had goji flattening a few cars in the city and a number of police cars cordening off the street a,ong with a news crew valiently reporting very close by. So I do get more use out of police cars than most, but even I have too many. Figure the police station parking lot will be a place to use some up as well, but the problem is they tend to be all different if you get them with the sets--similar issue with the taxis. One club member has a ttrak module with a little yakuza crime scene going on with a couple of police cars. Jeff Link to comment

Guest Closed Account 1
How DCC friendly are the Tomix 300 Series trains (92991,92758,92997)? Are there DCC interior lights for it? Link to comment
keitaro
define dcc interior lights? it's just like doing dcc on any non mount supported/nem model wire it up and away you go with the usual front and rear lighting board modifications. Link to comment

KenS
I don't think Tomix has DCC anything. They do have both bulb and LED-based interior lights in a variety of sizes and both white and "incandescent-like" color (I did a search on "interior" on HS to find them). The structure looks identical to MicroAce's lights, and company "F&MOKEI" makes sets that work on both brands so I guess they are. None of the three make any mention of DCC, but I wouldn't really expect it. Kato seems to be the only company in Japan that sells to the DCC market, and that's probably because of their overseas sales more than anything domestic. A representative Tomix set is: http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10066938 I don't have any Tomix EMUs, so I've never tried putting on of their sets in on DCC and I'd be a bit concerned about overdriving them. Perhaps like Kato it would "just work", but it would be nice if someone who's actually done it could report that it does. I do have a set of the MicroAce lights I bought a year ago for a not-yet-done project, and if I can remember where I put them (they're hiding from me at present) I'll open them up and take a look at the components. KenS
I do have a set of the MicroAce lights I bought a year ago for a not-yet-done project, and if I can remember where I put them (they're hiding from me at present) I'll open them up and take a look at the components. I played around a bit with my MicroAce G0003/G0004 lights. I can't seem to upload photos, so I'll point you at my website for those. But the long and short of it is that MicroAce's seem like they would work on DCC. There's a capacitor that could cause problems, and no way to cut it out of the circuit (it's underneath the lens assembly) and I'm a bit concerned the resistors might overheat on voltages above 12V (the LEDs are protected to at least 16V though), but I didn't see an obvious problem in a 40-minute test at 15V DC (the highest I can produce). I haven't tested on DCC yet, that's tbd. I need to get the lighting actually installed to really do that. Edit: adding some photos now that image uploading works: The basic form of the MA/Tomix/Greenmax lightboard: The circuit diagram (I think; I can't be sure which side of the rectifier the capacitor sits on, and I posted a different diagram on my site yesterday, but after more staring at the circuit board, I think the traces put it on the output side, as shown here).
